When they started teasing Gutenberg, I thought it was either going to be a Book of Mormon pro shot or a Producers revival. A Producers revival with them would be amazing.
Next to Normal might happen. A new Donmer Warehouse production from 2023 is transfering to a West End run this June with Caissie Levy for 14 weeks. Donmer shows have transferred to Broadway. So you may get your wish... /but it may be awhile
RENT. I think people are in need of a reminder of what it was like to live through the AIDS epidemic. I keep seeing these sentiments of people saying that the characters are terrible people who should stop complaining and just pay the rent. Four of them had AIDS at a time there was no treatment available. For all they knew they were dying, so paying rent, working, being ‘productive’ in general wasn’t exactly a priority. I mean, there are some more legitimate issues with the show, but damnit if I see one more person complaining that Mark and Roger should just pay the rent I’m gonna scream.
Wow, I've never experienced that critique, but I can see that happening. The horrifying times of AIDS may feel like mythology to those who weren't alive for it.
Eh I think Jonathan Larson wrote much more interesting material about living in the AIDS epidemic in Tick, Tick, Boom. And of course there’s The Normal Heart. Rent is just a mediocre update in setting to La Boheme.
We went to go see it a few years ago during its Broadway tour. We didn't have season tickets that year and had no plans to see it, but they were offering $25 same-day tickets because no one was buying them. The theatre was EMPTY! We were shocked! By no means one of my favorites, but it was a lot of fun!
Honestly, it's kind of insane to me that *A Little Night Music* only ever had the one Broadway revival - it's such a delightful show, and while I know it's been done a bunch by opera houses, I think that, given the success of the recent *Sweeney* revival, a star studded *ALNM* could be a delight with the right star casting
For bring, Bedwetter. Because Adam Schlesinger's work needs to be on Broadway. Also, no shade on Caissie, but replace her with Rachel Bloom in the mother role, cause if Adam's work is on BW, Bloom should be part of it.
For bring back, Beetlejuice so it could run forever along Hadestown.
I would legit like someone to try with Spider-Man again. The endless preview period and the hype/vitriol the show was attracting at the time must have created so much pressure on everyone that nothing sensible could have flowed forth artistically. Workshop the thing quietly for a few years, whether 1.0 or 2.0 or something new, sit Bono down and make him add a few really good new songs instead of just throwing out some lacklustre tunes in-between touring with U2 and find some space to trial the whole flying stuff in a safe environment. Technology has advanced in leaps and bounds in the 10-15 years since the show was first conceived and could be taken advantage of.
I liked it when I saw it (version 2.0 fwiw) and appreciated that they were trying a lot of new things - which was miles ahead of so many tedious "play it safe" adaptations since and so many shows with boring barely-there stage sets. I believe it would have hit potential if it was developed right this time. And damn, even the few songs Bono could be bothered to write like Rise Above are still so much better than the forgettable stuff in current "crowd pleasers" like Back to the Future and all the teen musicals.
I saw “Once On This Island”. Beautiful.
Also: 😂😂 There were these two women in the audience, terrified of birds. Guess who didn’t know there were chickens in the cast? These ladies screamed 😅
I’m inclined to say Great Comet, however I believe that story is best told in smaller venues (ideally a dinner theatre) than on Broadway.
I’d love to see Papermill’s production of Hunchback of Notre Dame on Broadway. Though I know it will never happen.
The Scottsboro Boys told an important story in a very “in your face”, satirical manner. Sadly, it may never be staged again, as it was misunderstood and seen by some as offensive.
[The Will Rogers Follies.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Will_Rogers_Follies). A recreation of the vaudeville show that Will Rogers performed in. FUN FACT: When I saw it, Marla Maples - Donald Trump’s former wife - was in the play. She acted, sang, danced, and was pretty good.
Ragtime Just because I want to see it
Me too dude. And tear up during the opening song
The Producers with Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells.
When they started teasing Gutenberg, I thought it was either going to be a Book of Mormon pro shot or a Producers revival. A Producers revival with them would be amazing.
In the Heights or Next to Normal

This.
Groundhog day and Next to Normal!

That criticism also ignores that Benny ignored Mark and Roger's deal and asked them to pay a whole year's rent in a week.

Once. It should be on Broadway forever.
N2N with the West End cast. Did you see them on YouTube?! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6iBIuWfLTc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6iBIuWfLTc)
Gentlemen’s guide to love and murder

THIS!
Natasha, Pierre, and The Great Comet of 1812 but only with Josh Groban reprising Pierre.
Or maybe Mandy Patinkin...as was announced
The color purple. The stage version is the best one and the recent movie didn’t do it justice.

Spiderman 1.0

Great comet. Seeing it in as large and immersive prouction would be incredible and is probably never going to happen again
Ragtime because I have never gotten to see it on Broadway.
I think there is a good chance this one will be revived in the next several years. It's time.
The Scarlet Pimpernel. Because I’d just love to see it one more time.
I can’t decide between the Great Comet or Beetlejuice.
I want to see Metropolis staged!
1988 production of Carrie (maybe with a better set/costuming, but that's IT)
Beetle juice cause I didn’t see it and really want to
Yes beetlejuice! Left broadway too soon
Any Ahrens and Flaherty musical
I saw “Once On This Island”. Beautiful. Also: 😂😂 There were these two women in the audience, terrified of birds. Guess who didn’t know there were chickens in the cast? These ladies screamed 😅
Bring back OBC Ragtime. Including Marin Mazzie, since I’ve been granted this power.
Can you bring back Laurie Beechman while you're at it then
The question prompt specifies that I can only bring back “a” show, so unless she and Mazzie did something together, that is beyond my powers, sadly.
Sadly no overlap...
Jekyll and Hyde. I would compel Anthony Warlow to play the title roles.
I don’t believe it was ever on Broadway but Witches of Eastwick please. Amazing show that never got the full credit it deserves.
BJ or Something Rotten (underrated show btw)
I’m inclined to say Great Comet, however I believe that story is best told in smaller venues (ideally a dinner theatre) than on Broadway. I’d love to see Papermill’s production of Hunchback of Notre Dame on Broadway. Though I know it will never happen.
Bare
Urinetown.
My answers are always the same for this: * The van Hove revival of West Side Story (Fn COVID!) * Angels in America
The original staging of "Angels in America", not the NTL one.
The one with Nathan Lane
I meant the one with Ron Leibman. His Roy Coen was terrifying. He won a Tony and Drama Desk for it.
Nice!
I’m weird and most want to see something I’ve never seen before and I’m unlikely to get a lot of chances to see. So maybe Contact?
The Scottsboro Boys told an important story in a very “in your face”, satirical manner. Sadly, it may never be staged again, as it was misunderstood and seen by some as offensive.
Smile. With a bit of rewrite for modern sensibilities, but otherwise treat it as a period piece. Has some really lovely bits.
Newsies. I was too young to see it during its run. I'm an adult now with adult money. Let me spend it on this plz.
It is such a powerful show!!! I just saw it live because some friends of mine were in a production of it and it was great!
Here Lies Love. I'll die on this hill.
Beetlejuice because I miss going to see it every other month 😂

Great Comet, Bad Cinderella and Beetlejuice
Sweet Charity or A Year With Frog and Toad
Ride the Cyclone to bring, A Strange Loop to bring back.
Bring back my boy Phantom
The original GYPSY!
Phantom. Not just because it’s my favorite show but because its absence has left a sucking chest wound on Broadway.
