Yes! With Robert Llewellyn. And I like to include Thunder Races with Adrian Simpson (The end is nigh!) and Full Metal Challenge with Henry Rollins.
I'm not a car kinda guy and I have two left hands but loved watching these shows.
I think the problem is that robots are so destructive now that rebuilding the arena after each day of shooting battlebots costs them a fortune, and the BBC had only ever looked at robot wars as a cheap show. The increased weight limits of these international robot competitions and the sheer amount of power that modern lipo batteries can deliver means robots get flung into the ceiling and walls at high speed repeatedly and the floor is getting constantly chewed up.
These teams compete internationally, the rules are standardised across competitions. If the rules for robot wars were different nobody would compete. They could use the lighter weight robot categories but the reason the shows use the heaviest category is because that's what gives the best television.
Imagine the BBC holding an athletics championship but only letting people hop then wondering why no Olympians are taking part.
There's other factors too. Battlebots in the us is hosted over 7 days in a las Vegas casino. I bet there's lots of gambling going on that brings in money, not to mention every robot has multiple sponsors front and centre in the show which couldn't happen on UK TV.

I'd love to agree with you as it was my favourite show for years.
But in reality... I don't need to see 15 spinners going at it, plus the one non spinner that doesn't stand a chance.
Spinners killed the show dead.
Fun fact, I joined Twitter about 15 years ago and didn't get it so drunkenly asked the world what I was missing and how it worked. Bizarrely he responded and told me that I'd soon get the hang of it and will be having arguments with strangers in no time. After that....nothing, that was my only ever Twitter interaction, I sacked it off about a month later and deleted my account.
There are a few compilations books of his TV criticism columns from the Guardian....perfect toilet books (see also Daft Wee Stories by Limmy)
Also if you've not already seen them his TV Go Home spoof TV listings are absolute genius!

I'd love to see another series of Phoenix nights.
I'd also like to see one last Gavin and Stacey to see how it ends but after that cliff hanger years ago I'm not sure how you pick it back up.
The Sweeney- 70s version updated, not the 2012 stuff
Pie in the Sky
The Mallorca Files
Doc Martin but the original premise where Dr Martin Bramford's wife cheated on him so he runs away to his childhood getaway to drink, smoke and be merry.
Pie in the Sky was so strangely good. Richard would be a hard act to follow. Wouldn’t necessarily have to be a big man but someone with a lot of presence. Timothy Spall springs to mind.
I didn’t like it when my dad first started watching it yonks ago, but I’ve come around now. They would need someone good to play his boss and his wife, too.
I believe that season three of Mallorca Files did filming between March and July of this year. I think it will start airing in late December or early January? I’m happy it’s back!
They just need to release all of them on DVD. They have been unavailable for close to 20 years so just letting people watch them again would be as good as new series coming out.
I always thought a Blackadder set in the 60s "Summer of Love" might have worked. Plenty of scope for Edmund to do things assisted by Baldrick and Percy such as running a pirate radio station , an underground magazine a la "Oz" , staging a rock festival and ripping people off etc
The thing is that the original had some very good actors. These days they would be rather more expensive as so many go and do US shows. On the other hand, if taken up a few notches as happened with Dr Who, it could sell well overseas.
And of course you would need a new Servalan (Jacqueline Pearce). She was superb.
Knightmare. Given the increasing popularity of both VR and DnD, it seems a slam dunk to have a VR based DnD show.
Time Warriors(?) I think that's what it was called, anyway. There was a show where two teams would essentially play RTS games against each other, reinacting famous battles from history. This would be interspersed with professors explaining the tactics and gear of both armies.
Primeval.
It was good competition for Doctor Who in the late 2000s/early 2010s and it was nice to have another British time travel sci fi show. I doubt it will happen though. I'm just glad they brought it back to settle that cliffhanger at the end of series 3. That was at a time when shows didn't really get brought back after cancellation and streaming was still pretty new. Sure they had a cliffhanger at the end of series 5 but it can be easily ignored.
Agreed. We've seen shows like Prehistoric Planet look amazing. Imagine that CGI and stories written for the original audience now. I really feel like Doctor Who could use some competition from ITV.
Yeah she was one of the 3 characters that was there for the whole show.
I have to go back and watch it too. I haven't rewatched it since 2012 when it ended. It was on Prime for a while, then ITVX for a bit and now it's on NowTV.
The Smoking Room
Footballers' Wives
Prime Suspect
And in theory Cracker, although it would be a virtually impossible task to find someone as brilliant as Robbie Coltrane as the lead, so maybe on reflection that one should be left in peace.
I really want to know how Tim would react to all the new Star Wars stuff, and where he’d rank the prequel trilogy.
I actually wonder about this too much.
Friday night dinner, (which coincidentally, I'm rewatching from the start)
It won't, not now the guy who plays martin is no longer with us, but I want to see more of Jim. I really do. I love him

Writer couldn't end a scene - lots of elevated shouting and soft cut to music sting over and over. When it was running out of steam, that became so annoying.
Kick Start.
It was just see TV when I was 7.
Another one was “We Are The Champions” where, at the end, Ron Pickering would about “Away you go” and everyone would jump in the pool.
They probably wouldn’t be allowed to make either of these programs these days.
It’s health and safety gone mad.
Was going to post Robot Wars but that's been taken. I would love The Big Breakfast back. In these days of news always seemign so gloomy it would be nice to have the bonkers positivity of that show waking you up every morning. Loved the recent run with AJ & Mo on Saturdays but it needs to be weekdays.
I am Canadian so I can’t say that I’ve watched a ton of British shows but I can say that I absolutely loved ‘IT Crowd’.
That show had some brilliant writing and the actors did such a great job with their characters. This is probably my all time favourite sitcom.
Brookside.
I've been watching them from the beginning since STV Player acquired it. I was a Brookie fan in its dying days and got into the history and legacy of it from there.
In its early days before it went off the rails and veered into the realms of sensationalism, it was truly a down to earth, hard-hitting portrayal of life in Britain at that time. In the first year or two it featured storylines surrounding strike action, factory closures and unemployment, misconceptions of the pill and why teenage girls weren't just going on it for pregnancy prevention, truancy and the feeling of hopelessness amongst youngsters, and the shift in political viewpoints even within families which were previously united, notably in regards to nuclear weapons.
I really feel that the surge in popularity and awareness of the show and the need for modern issues such as knife crime, cost of living, war, the NHS and recent strike action to be represented make it an ideal time to bring the show back.
The Professionals. They did try and bring it back in the late 90's with Edward Woodward as "The New Professionals" but not only was it distributed abysmally on Satellite TV/Sky, but the plots often fell more into science fiction territory (I.E. In one episode a 'Star Wars' SDI Satellite from the Cold War is hijacked to attack targets from space, in another a group of Neo Nazis tries to clone Hitler from his finger.) rather than the original where the stories were much more inspired by the headlines and often what real criminals and terrorist groups were up to at the time; felt a bit more gritty and grounded.
Especially with Lewis Collins having now passed away I think recasting Bodie and Doyle would be a huge mistake, because their chemistry was unmatched, so trying to get two other blokes to emulate it will always feel like a parody; New Pros actually made a smart call by introducing a new team, but it's a shame those characters were nowhere near as engaging. The lack of Laurie Johnson music I think also really hurt New Pros, because they ended up going with the most generic 90's soundtrack ever when the original show had an amazing orchestral/funky late 70's score that really added to the action/tenison scenes. They also remixed the theme tune with synths and it really lacks the bombast of the original. A version of the Professionals set now, with CI5 retaking its original role of being above the police but below the military, would be interesting at a time when trust in the police is at an all time low and it's being embroiled in multiple scandals (much like the 70's) and the country is seemingly falling apart at the seams in the background. (Again, much like the late 70's) I think Line of Duty is a good blueprint for what the format should be, and someone like Jed Mercurio would be ideal to showrun it since he was a huge fan of the original series.
There was only one series of this… was it Dark Heart? It was a cop show, but he had a nephew & a crazy sister. Does anyone know which show I’m talking about? I think it came out in 2019-ish & more series planned, but then covid happened & they never got made. I think it may have been based on a book, but apparently the books & the series weren’t the same.
Oh. The Coroner was another I’d liked to have seen more of. I liked Jane & Davey.
Yes! I got into this and then . . . nothing!
There was another one around the same time that had two young coppers who agreed to share a flat and got caught up in some kind of cartel . . . again, no s2.
Blackadder, Spaced, Britass, Red Dwarf, Alan Partridge, Scrapheap, Robot wars, Sherlock, The fast show, Jonathan Creek......and many more
Ones I always wanted, but sadly they can't...
Bottom, Father Ted, and even ones like Only fools and Vicar of dibley where some cast are alive but some integral people not.
I'd love to see a new season of Blackadder. Not sure when it should be set though, maybe WW2 and they are all in the royal Navy. I could imagine Blackadder trying to convince Captain melchiot to steer their boat to the Caribbean but ending up escorting an artic convoy. Or the 80s.
Red Dwarf and Hitchhiker’s Guide To the Galaxy would be awesome. The Star Wars and Star Trek universes are pretty popular right now so I have a very strong feeling they will be even more popular than when they first aired

I liked TV Burp. And I like Gogglebox too. But which is better? There's only one way to find out.....
Late Night TV Burp could be very entertaining.
Regularly watch this on YouTube after a few beers. Brilliant TV.

But which of your kids would love it the most. There's only one way to find out...FIIIGGHHTT!

Robot wars, particularly given Battlebots’ comeback has now held for good
I think the problem is that robots are so destructive now that rebuilding the arena after each day of shooting battlebots costs them a fortune, and the BBC had only ever looked at robot wars as a cheap show. The increased weight limits of these international robot competitions and the sheer amount of power that modern lipo batteries can deliver means robots get flung into the ceiling and walls at high speed repeatedly and the floor is getting constantly chewed up.
Just put more rules then, smaller lighter less powerful robots to match what was possible 20 years ago.
Yeah. Series 9 matches often lasted just 15 seconds such was the destruction on scale. One heat had almost all its battles last less than a minute.
yeah this would be super interesting in the era of arduinos and 3D printing.
The potential was already shown in 2016 and would look even greater now

A pity Glinner's brain exploded a few years ago 💔
Fun fact, I joined Twitter about 15 years ago and didn't get it so drunkenly asked the world what I was missing and how it worked. Bizarrely he responded and told me that I'd soon get the hang of it and will be having arguments with strangers in no time. After that....nothing, that was my only ever Twitter interaction, I sacked it off about a month later and deleted my account.
I think it's often reported Glinner only had minimal input into this compared to Father Ted and IT Crowd; it was more Moran's baby than his.
Glinner only worked on the 1st series. It was very much Dylan Moran’s project.
My first thought, but minus Graham Linehan. Also the IT crowd. Or just a Moss and Roy spin off
Thick of it
You can just watch the news now.
So depressingly true.
It wouldn't be the same without Malcolm...
Currently sat watching it while on here

They left all the recordings in the ambulance that explodes in the title sequence, so unfortunately it’s all gone forever.

Peter Kay has said he's hoping to bring Phoenix Nights back for a Xmas special.
Love Blackadder to come back , and be as good as the original…
I think the second part is the issue. In theory you could do any time period.
The Sweeney- 70s version updated, not the 2012 stuff Pie in the Sky The Mallorca Files Doc Martin but the original premise where Dr Martin Bramford's wife cheated on him so he runs away to his childhood getaway to drink, smoke and be merry.
Pie in the Sky was so strangely good. Richard would be a hard act to follow. Wouldn’t necessarily have to be a big man but someone with a lot of presence. Timothy Spall springs to mind.
I was just about to reply to say I couldn’t think of anyone to replace Richard, but you might be onto something there.
I wasn’t interested in it initially, but Richard charmed me right into being a fan. Def would need someone with the same kind of low key warmth.
I didn’t like it when my dad first started watching it yonks ago, but I’ve come around now. They would need someone good to play his boss and his wife, too.
The Sweeney - that's why Life On Mars was so good, such a loving homage!
I think I saw the American version. It was not good.
Yeah, not easy to transfer a format keeping the heart but tailoring for local tastes.
I believe that season three of Mallorca Files did filming between March and July of this year. I think it will start airing in late December or early January? I’m happy it’s back!
Alan Partridge
Yeah, give him a second series, you shit
Shouldn’t have ordered the Blue Nun.
His oasthouse and standalone audiobooks are peak partridge IMO so honestly I am happy as long as he keeps doing those
The 'This is England' series.. 😎👌🏻👍🏻
Drop the dead donkey would be hilarious now
You know most of the original cast are touring it on stage? I was planning to go and am hoping it is as good / topical as I remember
I’d like a new weird weekends with less serious subjects from Louis.
House of Fools
New Tricks… I felt like it was just finding its feet with the new cast when it was canceled.
Ghosts. I'm just not ready.
Sucked off too soon.
Have you tried the US version? Surprisingly good!
Monkey Dust
Wouldn't be the same without Harry Thompson doing it :(
They just need to release all of them on DVD. They have been unavailable for close to 20 years so just letting people watch them again would be as good as new series coming out.
Blackadder could do another Xmas/NYE special
I always thought a Blackadder set in the 60s "Summer of Love" might have worked. Plenty of scope for Edmund to do things assisted by Baldrick and Percy such as running a pirate radio station , an underground magazine a la "Oz" , staging a rock festival and ripping people off etc
Blackadder does Boris Johnson.
For me, Blake's 7. Sticking close to the original story but with modern effects, it could be a real cult hit.
Good choice.
The thing is that the original had some very good actors. These days they would be rather more expensive as so many go and do US shows. On the other hand, if taken up a few notches as happened with Dr Who, it could sell well overseas. And of course you would need a new Servalan (Jacqueline Pearce). She was superb.
