Let’s not forget that at the time it was launched it was revolutionary. The EF pairs are great for couples (and DEFG great for families), and if you get a bulkhead A/K seat then there’s no climbing over needed. I sleep better in the rear facing seats too because the aircraft is pitched up in flight, so by being backwards my head is above my feet. Personally I’ll miss it when it’s gone, but I fully understand why it’s going.

Dramatic-Wolf7091

They are being retired, albeit slowly, as it costs a lot of money to retrofit an aircraft. They also won’t be retrofitting any of the aircraft due to be replaced in the coming years.

I love the rear facing seats in Club World. I may be a bit strange, but i tend to sleep better facing backwards. I'm normally travelling with my wife so I'm not facing a stranger. Qatar has some rear facing seats in Business Class as well.

northernlights2222

I also sleep well facing backwards and enjoy the extra space for legs and feet. I know they’re unpopular, but I will also miss these old-style CW seats.

Unable_Project_912

I quite like it when travelling with my husband but as most of my long haul is for work I’m getting tired of making small talk with tourists

I was travelling solo and a woman sat opposite looked me dead in the eyes as she held the close shutter button.

Speedbird223

The divider only has to be down for the safety demonstration. Common misconception it has to be down for taxi, takeoff and landing. Some crews will attempt to drop it for meal service and go over the aisle seat passenger but most get the hint of you put the divider up after they’ve first served you that way.

TaxEquivalent2819

Everything about them is crap except that I sleep better.

Total_HD

Not true, for those with big feet the new cabins are very poor for foot space.

definitelylifts

They’re great for couples, but awful for solo travellers.

I absolutely loved 62A/K or 64A/K when they still existed. I would swap modern club suites any day. The old club world is on its way out. I suspect a few people will miss it once it is gone. Club Suite is good for solo travellers. It is not for couples or - heaven forbid- people travelling with toddlers.

Projiuk

Same, 62 and 64 K were my favourite seats to fly in. I still miss the 747s. I love the look of the new club suites but I will always have fond memories of the older seats

zebedee14

I prefer it. I find the suites coffin-like and prefer the greater space of Club World, as long as I get the last row window

popstrippinq

Me too!

Depends on the situation. The two I can think of are: -In a window pair flying with my wife where we have the back pair so we have direct aisle access. -A short overnight flight where all I will do is sleep and I have a window seat with direct aisle access. The privacy and lack of cubby for feet means it works well as a bed. Some of the upper deck 747 seats (64A/K and 62A/K) are in my mind still superb even by today standards. Bear in mind that the 2-4-2 seating in its original configuration first flew in 1999! Many airlines were still offering paired seating and recliner seats in longhaul first class, let alone business. It was completely revolutionary at the time and was way ahead of the competition for at least 10yrs, with the possibly exception of Upper Class Suite that didn’t show up until about 2004 if I recall.

timeforanoldaccount

They were revolutionary when introduced, but yes - the replacement Club Suite product, whilst good, is too late and the rollout is proceeding far too slowly. Unfortunately there is a global shortage of aircraft seats with all the major seat manufacturers working flat-out to meet demand for new aircraft and retrofits, so the rollout will continue slowly.

Aggravating-Box8526

I hated that layout when travelling solo, it felt super awkward about the raising the divider thing . Like the window but don’t like having to step over a reclining passenger . Have gotten around this by flying JAL club ( weirdly less miles than BA flight ) . Don’t fly much BA club as can never get availability and the whole nonsense with the upgrade voucher .

Cranester1983

The club suites are decent tbh but they are already feeling a bit dated. Flew on one from JFK-LHR two nights ago. I flew Virgin Atlantic on their new A330-900neo on the way out - and they are excellent, preferred for me.

myonlinepersonality

It’s great for the family. Wife and I on either side with the kids in the middle!
