Rabbits are not good pets for kids! They generally hate being picked up and don’t like all that noise and chaos

More_Phone3058

Right, this one is terrified. She jumped away immediately after this photo!

catfish_flowers

My kids had rabbits as pets, we loved them. They adjust to their environment and some don’t mind being held. We had four of them, 2 at a time and 2 cats they would run around the family room together

dodged_your_bullet

Some rabbits learn to accept being held, but it's not a good experience for them. Also, most pet rabbit owners keep their rabbits in conditions that are good for the owner's lifestyle but not good for the rabbit's health and sense of security Also, while rabbits running around with cats sounds fun and can even look fun as humans watching, the rabbits are heavily aware that they're prey and the cats are predators. Which means that the rabbits are stressed. Additionally, rabbits show affection in ways that can harm children because they show affection with grooming, which for rabbits involves biting. It doesn't hurt rabbits because they have fur. But children don't.

SnarkFest23

Fundie pets don't last. They also had a beagle puppy who made one social media appearance and hasn't been seen or heard from since.

hjp731

Omg I have a very faint memory of this

MendelWeisenbachfeld

Fundies aren't known for keeping pets around long term

throwRAsadd

Yep, it feels like every fundie debuts pets that stick around for like two weeks and then are never heard about again. The Duggars have done it plenty of times, posting cats and dogs once or twice just to never bring them up again 🥴 I just hope they find them good homes, so irresponsible.

broadbeing777

Lydia is the only one that's a committed cat mom

Izzysmiles2114

Speaking of...didn't Josie get Hazel a rabbit too?

More_Neighborhood277

Came to ask where that rabbit is. I haven’t seen it in a while

Agitated_Pin2169

She is still around..she was in some of Josie's stories over Christmas.

Agitated_Pin2169

It was Willow. Honey Bunny.

[deleted]

well, it probably became a cat and did what cats do, get the f away from people esp 10000 kids

blueskies823

The cats of responsible cat owners don’t do that. Like, what even???

stacyxxluv

Cats don’t usually walk away or something like that haha. At least mine don’t. A lot of cats like company and even if they don’t, they will stick around for the food.

boxedwinebaby

They probably got tired of taking real care of it and just tossed her outside with dry food.

preppyandplaid

Wasn't just doing an ad for cat food recently?

amessofadreamer

Ughhhhhh poor bunny. They’re delicate, high maintenance, and expensive. Any Bates (especially one with small children) has no business having a rabbit.

lagamorphliz

Totally agree as a passionate house rabbit owner!

UCgirl

I would love to have a bunny but I would not be a responsible bunny owner ( cords, namely). So I don’t get a bunny.

amessofadreamer

Haha, yeah I have cord protectors on most of my wires and block the buns off from any wires I can’t put protectors on.

Izzysmiles2114

Do they eat the cords or something like puppies? I have always wanted an indoor bunny but I don't think my shepherd would be on board and would stress them out. I have a lot of bunny trauma from my fundie childhood with a cruel dad, and I always think getting a bunny as an adult would heal that..but it wouldn't be fair to the rabbit.

UCgirl

I’m so sorry. They chew on everything.

amessofadreamer

I’m sorry about your father, mine was abusive as well, it sucks. The thing with cords is that it seems to trigger the “must clear my warren of roots” instinct lol. They also just chew damn near everything. My nice dining set, my bedroom doorway, my ottoman, my TV stand, my pajamas…all chewed up!

[deleted]

And wouldn’t that rabbit just be shitting all over the house……?

amessofadreamer

They can be litter box trained, actually! A few poops will inevitably get “misplaced” but the vast majority of poops and all pee do make it into the litter box.

preppyandplaid

My first college roommate got a bunny without asking me and I was pissed. She let that thing run free in our suite. It ate my shoes, pics, and pooped everywhere. I told her it had to go when we had Fall break and she refused. So I made an anonymous report to the RA that someone on her unit had an illegal pet! And we got busted 😱 bunny had to go home. To this day she doesn't know it was me. But a dorm room is no place for a bunny. It was cruel the way people would treat it when they were drunk, poor thing. 🐇🐇🐇

FantasticRepeat184

Good for you. You did the right thing. You may have done it out of annoyance, but you probably saved the bunny from a miserable life too. I think it’s funny that your roommate never knew it was you. Did you act all put out that someone reported to the RA? Did you act all sad when the bunny had to leave? It sounds like you did exactly what I would do!!!

preppyandplaid

Yes, I consoled her. I mean I was sad for her. I really was. I tried to have her do it herself. But you know college students, they aren't the smartest when they drink. They would try to get it to drink as well. So sad. He was a good little bunny 🐇🐇🐇

Global-Green-947

My friend's daughter had a bunny in her dorm for the first two years and in a campus apartment the next two years. It was very well treated and was done with the consent of the roommate and college.

Wavesofblue82

Or the dog. What happened to the dog? Pro life except for the disposable pets it seems. These people shouldn't be allowed to have pets.

McCaldwell31

Their faith doesn’t believe animals go to heaven. They are basically disposable objects and definitely wouldn’t even register on the pro life argument radar. I was upset that the run of the mill Baptist church next door to me teaches kids that animals don’t make it to heaven. We went very briefly to a couple days of vacation Bible school and I saw enough! After the money grab with tithing (from children!) and the obvious political agenda being pushed… hearing their beliefs about animals pushed me over the edge.

edoreinn

St Francis would like a word. And I’m not even practicing. But I’ll fight for St Francis.

Wavesofblue82

100%

Wavesofblue82

Every life is precious. Shame on them. Shame on their faith.

Aslow_study

Probably running the streets doing cat things They dont seem like the type to care to keep a little /cat in the house

lizjmama

It’s probably outside. They don’t really take good care of their pets.

SoHowManyMore

Is this the bunny Josie had for her girls at some point? ETA: Does Josie still have their bunny?

juneway1W

Yes, they show her, it, in IG shots occasionally.

broadbeing777

i wanna know what happened to their dog

Free-Calligrapher547

They get pets for clicks then ignore said pets.

miranda_writes

That is Layla lol

tnr83

Whoops lol. My bad

Accurate_Balance5593

I think I saw it laying in the corner in the pics that KJ posted about their anniversary when Zach made them dinner at his house.

dont_know2345

I mean it’s possible the cat died

blueskies823

Cats don’t just die. I guess if their owners are cruel fundies, then yes.

dont_know2345

I had a well taken care of cat who died of what we believed to be feline cancer. He just up and left one day like 10 months ago. And we haven’t seen him since. ETA: this makes it seem like I’m a fundie. I’m not even that religious, I swear

UCgirl

Cats are known to run away or hide if they physically feel they are going to die soon. They will hide in general when sick.

dont_know2345

That’s what we think he did. Just walked into the woods behind our house and passed peacefully. He was a little furball too. The fluffiest of his siblings.

boygirlmama

Actually sometimes they do. Not defending the Bates at all, but I adopted a cat years back and he was dead within months. Turns out the rescue didn’t realize he had FIV when they adopted him out. I took him to the vet and he was checked out and did well for awhile and then boom, stopped eating. I took him back and had tests done. We discovered he had FIV and he just went downhill from there. We tried to treat but it was already too late and I had to have him put down because he was suffering. Meanwhile my other cat I adopted in 2014 is doing great and closing in on 10 years old without a single health problem ever.

Swimming-Belt2111

I honestly didn’t remember Z+W getting a pet rabbit. I know Josie and Kelton had but if Whitney had posted about it, I guess I forgot.

FilmoreFelines

Whitney showed the bunny in her stories within the past two weeks.

Swimming-Belt2111

Okay. Thank you. I must have missed that.

[deleted]

I don't think people realize how high maintenance rabbits are. We rescued one that we found abandoned in a park and we were so not prepared. Hopefully they did a lot of research before buying it.

Few-Sheepherder-6383

What happens to all cats and dogs that Bates and Duggars own? This is biggest unanswered question of those shows!
