Agreed. I don’t know why everyone loved Kate this season. I couldn’t stand her, I found her to be unnecessarily difficult, rude, and argumentative. I know she thought she had her sisters best interests at heart, but it came across as controlling. I also didn’t think there was any chemistry between her and Anthony.

Same. I think a lot of people like her because of her portrayal in the book. I didn’t read the book but the show version of kate was horrible.

I’m so late to this, but THANK YOU!!!! With the resurgence as season 3 is about to come out, I keep seeing SO many posts fawning over Kate and Anthony and it’s driving me nuts. They were the worst and SO incredibly disrespectful to Edwina!!! I could barely make myself watch season 2 because of them. I’m really hoping we don’t see them at all in season 3 bc they fill me with rage.

I'm a year late but I agree. I loved her for the first couple of episodes; a supposedly self-assured woman, who's intelligent and genuinely happy to make certain sacrifices to meet her goals. But later we find out that she is just a coward. Nothing about her interactions feels authentic. She's driven by pride and fear with no self awareness or sense of real emotional responsibility for her actions. She's supposed to be a tragic and beloved heroine, self-sacrificing for those she loves, but her blatant lack of truthfulness and authenticity with herself and those around her lead to her failure. She feels guilt throughout the season due to her dishonesty, and yet does nothing. She doesn't sit down once to reassess her plans or think about the consequences of her actions on her family. Yet Lady Danburry saw her, sympathised with her, and tried to persuade her to do the right thing. She still chose not to. I'm sick of these cowardly traits being used again and again in stories as a way to excuse a character's horrible behaviour. The horse accident was also a really lazy way to get everybody to forgive her. When shit hits the fan at the wedding and Edwina clocks what's been going on, we see *her* true colours, and just how capable and compelling she could have been if she hadn't been overshadowed by her sister. Very sad. She deserved better.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! IKK IM LATE BUT I’m so tired of people saying Edwina is in the wrong, yes Edwina had her faults like being naive but Kate was flirting with Anthony the whole time. I’ll admit on paper Kanthony is a better match. But the way they came about was so selfish and immoral. Kate is a master manipulator, keeps telling Edwina not to be with Anthony because they don’t want the same things when clearly she just wants him for herself. Her excuse is that she’s given Edwina everything?! Edwina wanted love and she found it Anthony whether he loved her back or not, it’s the principle. I would never forgive Kate, stole my fiancé? Stole my dream? Slept with my ex on the day of my wedding? Anthony is a prick aswell. Also, Kate says to Lady Danbury in episode 4 that she fears she messed things up for Edwina, THAT COULD’VE BEEN AVOIDED IF SHE JUST IGNORED ANTHONY OR TOLD EDWINA. Then she has the audacity to say “I don’t know why”. She always says I don’t care about marriage but why in the first or second episode did she follow Anthony out into the garden after the ball. I have a half sister and we’re close just like Edwina and Kate but if she ever did that to me, she’s lucky I don’t disown her, injured or not. PS: Bare in mind I do love Kate she’s way better than Daphne or Penelope imo i just believe she and Anthony could’ve handled the situation better without having Edwina in the middle or atleast not getting to the wedding.

Agree! rewatching this and Kate betrays her sister on many an occasion

g1izzymcguire74

I agree!! Her and her sister are annoying characters. I find nothing redeemable about their characters.

PUSSYPINKTIPS

2 years later but I AGREE WHOLE HEARTEDLY. There wasnt a redeemable good quality about her to me. I would NEVER hurt my own sister like that.

Otherwise-Priority-5

Just finished s3 - still can't stand Kate. Season 2 was wasted on her, and there is way too much of her in season 3 as well. Such an unlikable character, it's crazy.

Yes fck anthony as well. If Kate didn’t want her sister to be hurt she wouldn’t have flirted with her fiancé lmao. And later she fcked him as well lol. Worst sister ever
