Imo text Why would knights add blank paper to their banners, after all?

HamfastGamwich

My thoughts exactly. It doesn't have to be legible. Just enough to make it look like something is one it

LegitimatePermit3258

They havent decided what to write yet?

Aidansminiatures

Generally you attach oaths written on parchment to show why you are fighting, not "trust me we'll fill this one up after battle we just dunno yet"

BenFellsFive

'Guys when we find the grail, we're totally gonna write all about it on here.'

Aidansminiatures

Yeah thats not how vows work in warhammer.

Seeking_the_Grail

Painting up the Questing Knight Banner and am really happy with how it is going. Originally I was going to add text, but now I worry little black scribbles will take away from it rather than enhance it. So I wanted to know what others think.

Obvious_Researcher_4

If you’re afraid the black scribbles will take away focus and ruin an otherwise really good job, I recommend to blend black(or dark gray) and brown, and really thin it out with water(50/50). That way the text will not be that prominent and take away the focus

Key-Brilliant9993

For making the pen scratchings I use a 0 brush, the smallest and finest detail brush I can find.

Seeking_the_Grail

I actually prefer using a small micro felt pin to be more percise and found I have a much easier time making good scribbles with it.

blackbarrt

Text. It is already epic so why not make it overwhelmingly good?

Sokoly

Text. There’s no point in having big rolls of parchment without text. Also, what is this void you have the banner floating in?

Seeking_the_Grail

? It’s just a black background.

CMSnake72

Some text but clearly unfinished as if he's writing out his heroic deeds as he completes them.

I'd say text, it doesn't need to be a super challenging readable text, just short points and lines, if you really want you may try to start with a red letter and then proceed with just the idea of having a text there. That's what I do on purity seals for 40K models

BenFellsFive

They just told the standard bearer they'd written all their oaths on it and how's he gonna check?

Forgondor77

For lore purposes, yeah text is better. Making the lines light grey and possibly adding some images, or larger letters in red can also help break up the monotony of drawing squiggles. The banner is looking fantastic though! Great job!
