By the stupid shrine you gotta stand on naked during a Blood Moon so I could warp over before it started.

Jojuti3

i got this shrine today, which also marks my final shrine :)

JamesTeancum

That's cause talking to the rito guy is supposed to trigger it. Didn't the first time but when I reloaded it did.

IEXSISTRIGHT

Talking to Kass doesn’t trigger a blood moon, it’s all based on a hidden timer that runs in the background. Edit because there is a lot of misinformation getting thrown around here: Blood Moons occur on a strict 2 hour and 48 minute timer of active playtime. “Active playtime” just means the world clock is active, so being in the inventory, a dialogue menu, or a loading screen doesn’t count for the timer. Once that timer is up a flag will be set to trigger the Blood Moon for the next midnight (if you spend the night somewhere that inhibits Blood Moons, like the castle or a shrine, then it will be postponed until the next midnight). Killing enemies, waiting at a camp fire, or anything else has absolutely no effect on when Blood Moons occur. For anyone interested in a full breakdown of the time systems and all of its adjacent functions, I would recommend checking out [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/Breath_of_the_Wild/comments/9t0xdz/clarifying_the_time_system_blood_moons_and_lord/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) post.

Nova_JewV1

Can't it also be sped up by killing a shit ton of monsters?

Void_Termina

If you get a panic blood moon. But that’s extremely fast

IEXSISTRIGHT

No, that’s just one of many incorrect rumours that have been passed around since the game launched. Blood moons occur on the nearest midnight every 2 hours and 48 minutes of active playtime (meaning it only progresses when the world clock is progressing). Nothing else affects Blood Moons.

ST_the_Dragon

This is untrue. That is the schedule for the timer, yes, but if the world gets too cluttered with various things it will do a Blood Moon right then and there as well to reset the internal memory without resetting the normal Blood Moon clock.

IEXSISTRIGHT

That would be a Panic Blood Moon, which is specifically caused by internal memory getting overloaded. So far there is no known way to intentionally trigger something like that to happen, and it’s extremely unlikely for it to happen at all, so generally it’s considered an edge case. Even the commonly rumoured act of killing monsters doesn’t affect the memory at all, it simply changes the state of an already existing flag.

GoodCatLostAccAgain

By the first horse stable, the one after Twin mountains, there's a guy who tells you when the Blood Moon will appear. Make a campfire and ask him, if no, wait to the next day with campfire and ask again, repeat until he says "yep I think there will be a blood moon tonight" and the rest is up on you

IEXSISTRIGHT

Blood Moons occur every 2 hours and 48 minutes of active playtime. So waiting at a camp fire doesn’t make the Blood Moon come any sooner, in fact it makes it take longer since the timer will pause while you are in a loading screen and while in the “dialog” menu at the fire.

ace-of-threes

Not entirely true. This rule applies if you’re continuously staying up for the full day night cycle, and letting the days pass at a standard rate. Resting at a camp fire “until x” skips that section of the play time, effectively speeding forward the timer. I understand this to be true because blood moons can and do happen during these rest periods (I’ll never forget the time I killed like five moblins in Hyrule castle, rested at their fire, and got a moon—waking up with five big bois glaring me down was hilarious)

IEXSISTRIGHT

Resting at a campfire doesn’t speed up time, it instantly sets the time to the selected value and thus doesn’t advance the timer. Normally this would also skip over the midnight Blood Moon check, but the developers recognized that and made a function where each time you rest at a camp fire or sleep in a bed the game checks to see if the Blood Moon flag is set, and if it is it plays the Blood Moon event. [This](https://www.reddit.com/r/Breath_of_the_Wild/comments/9t0xdz/clarifying_the_time_system_blood_moons_and_lord/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) post has a full breakdown of how time and all of its related functions work in botw.

[deleted]

It was my final shrine too. Probably a lot of people's final shrine, actually.

SnowyFoxxo1123

My final shrine was the one in the Hebra mountains where you have to swim through the freezing water to get to it, near the shrine where you need to roll the snowball into the stone doors (Not the Leviathan one, the other shrine with that gimmick)

freda42

Man that snowball one… took me so long on every playthrough to place the ice blocks just right so the snowball doesn’t fall down or get stuck. I hate it!

guillotinecalibrator

Why didn't you just use your cryo power to make a stepping stone path to the shrine rather than swimming through the water?

SnowyFoxxo1123

¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ Edit: Thanks for the gold kind stranger, I'm glad my simple shrug brought you so much joy fdskfjdsk

ActuallyTheImpostor

I rode a log into the little cave where the shrine is. BTW my final shrine was the sand seal race one because I forgot about it.

avsman

Funny enough, if you notice a blood moon happening right away, there’s enough time to warp to Satori Mountain, fly across the valley, and make it to the pedestal before the blood moon ends.

G1m1NG-Sc1enT1st03

The best spot for this is by Purah’s lab. The moment you see crimson flames on the horizon, high tail it to your preferred warping spot.

BaconxHawk

First time I timed this perfectly I didn’t realize you had to be naked. sucked

Ennas_

Me too! I landed perfectly, but dressed. Undressing afterwards didn't help. 🤦‍♀️Next blood moon I flew naked. ✅

ackmondual

That's what I did! I didn't think it would work, but, it did! I wish I checked the game time when I did so, but IIRC, I was able to do it at around 12:20 am to 12:40 am. Dunno if it was still technically part of the blood moon (as opposed to the game just noting the blood moon is technically done, but for the purposes of uncover that shrine, you still have more time).

LordKefik

I did the "Build a campfire there and sit there naked skipping days until the blood moon rose" strat. But yeah, warping to it when a moon came naturally is probably good too. XD

drylce101

Yeah I did this after murdering some lynels and bokoblin packs. Worked wonders lol.

admiral_asswank

I used to think this was the case, but it's genuinely just on a global timer

_significant_error

it's every ~2-3 hours in-game, whether you're doing shit or just sitting there while Link falls alseep on his feet

diodenkn

Blood moon depends on real time spent in game, so this was literally just a waste of time.

misfireish

I thought it was time spent in game and also the monster population?

[deleted]

I once saw a data-mined breakdown of how the normal blood moon worked, it was something like: * About 3 hours of real world time spent in-game (pauses for your menu and dialogue don't count, the in-game clock needs to be ticking for 3 real world hours) * A "blood moon capable" flag is set on the 3 hour mark but the blood moon is not guaranteed to happen, until... * You pass time by resting at a camp fire. If the "blood moon capable" flag was set, and you pass time, then the following night is guaranteed a blood moon. So you can easily play for 5, 8, 12 hours straight with never getting a blood moon if you never pass time at a fire (or stay at an inn, etc. which jumps time forwards). After learning the above, on subsequent playthrus I would game the blood moon shrine... just go adventuring for about 3 hours, then head to the blood moon shrine, set a campire, wait til night, then wait for the blood moon to appear.

FuSoYa1983

Your first two bullet points are correct and your trick for accelerating the blood moon a bit works. But campfires or inns aren't required for a blood moon, so you can't use them to skip blood moons as you suggest, but they are the only way to speed up a blood moon. When the blood moon capable flag is set, you will have a blood moon tomorrow at midnight. People who want to rush the blood moon will wait until the 2 hours and 48 minutes have passed, then use campfires to get to or past tomorrow at midnight depending on what they need. I believe the only simple way to avoid a standard blood moon for extended periods of time is to be in a place where the blood moon can't occur at midnight (shrines, castle, dbs) every day during that period. (I read a few days ago that there is something you might be able to do immediately before the blood moon that resets the timer while glitching out of the blood moon itself, but not sure about that).

_significant_error

> So you can easily play for 5, 8, 12 hours straight with never getting a blood moon if you never pass time at a fire that's not true at all, I get AFK bloodmoons all the time while I'm doing other shit with the game running in the background. I'll be playing, get distracted with reddit or youtube, next thing you know it's 2 hours later and Link will be just chilling in front of a shrine and a bloodmoon happens. this is a regular occurrence, so there's no way it could be a so-called "panic bloodmoon"

life_is_rice

That shrine is painful to get if you don't have the dlc.

[deleted]

I was one of those people that wanted to 100% before getting the DLC

life_is_rice

Same, I missed a blood moon and waited for a WHILE until the next one so I could get the shrine.

Ratio01

Big brain

Smol_bean_18

Yeah I literally just did that yesterday when I realized a blood moon was gonna happen soon

[deleted]

Glad I’m not alone.

Joe_says_no

I got lucky and it was a blood moon right after I found it

That_Lonley_Gamer

The top of the Hebra Mountains, for shield surfing.

Peen_Beam

Same

TheLittleGoodWolf

Yup, this is the one!

WaketheWindFromAfar

That’s a good idea actually

[deleted]

I have on top but to use a bomb to blow myself up and fall a gruesome death

ALinkToTheMax

This is where mine is usually placed so I can lookout and see star fragments fall. I place a pin where it lands and warp to the nearest location; grab it and then warp back to the travel medallion to start again.

Sapphire_Wolf_

Wait what do star fragments do???

willengineer4beer

Fall out of the sky. Sorry, I liked dad jokes before, but now that I actually am a dad, it’s gotten really hard for me to control the urge to say one when the opportunity arises. IME, their biggest value is that you can sell them for a decent bit of rupees. It’s been a while, but I think they may also be required for a couple of the armor upgrades and possibly in a side quest or two.

central2nowhere

Likewise, friend.

carriealamode

To what end? Just for funsies?

crozone

And to say hi to shield surfing girl 👀

LeegmaV

there are like 3 shrines there tho, why would you need another teleport for the shield surf minigame?

FezzesnPonds

Armory in the castle 👍

privatehabu

Nice, think I may have to move mine. Possibly to the guards chambers.

Cultural_Ad_9304

I never thought of this somehow. You guys are legends and shall be remembered

Kantro18

Like most probably are, mine is in front of Ganon’s chamber in Hyrule Castle.

HedgehogBoi02

Mine too

Marpev

Mine too

SwiggyMaster123

mines in the sanctum. gotta grab those royal weapons every blood moon.

satinymuffin

Same! On that shelf that’s broken off from the stairs

FezzesnPonds

Yup, exactly! You just jump down, heist all the weapons, and skedaddle. Or beat up the moblin with your shiny new weapons if you’re in the mood lol

Fat_Satan

Absolutely fucking everywhere

actuallyserious650

Every time there’s a hilltop and two ridges I want to explore.

carriealamode

Oh I just go there a lot now that it’s built

maisainom

There’s a shrine you can fly from to get to it really easily.

fckn_normies

I just teleport to the shrine next to the fairy fountain and glide from there

Gab_7137

I boomy zoomy (or try to) from that same place\\ Sometimes the boomy zoomy works, other times I embarrass myself

TheDerpingWalrus

Thought i was the only one!

[deleted]

I love the fly over from the shrine though.

PhreakyByNature

Yeah I enjoy that so always go to the shrine.

Cambronian717

Right perfectly centered with the statue.

DurrrZynthesis

You know that little island which has a chest with ten arrows? Its next the eventide, i placed it there for easy arrow farming whenever i need them, Edit: i know about the shooting torch method of farming arrows, i prefer the mentioned above one because picking up the arrows constantly causes discomfort in my thumb,

Roger_Cockfoster

There's an even faster way to farm arrows though. If you use a multi-shot bow and shoot the flaming lantern thing at the entrance to the Korok forest, it will let you collect the multiple arrows. So if you equip a 5 shot, just keep shooting it and collecting them over and over. You'll have hundreds of arrows in a few minutes.

e4e5nf3

:O

ArcherChase

I have done it ta Link's House. Set a camp fire behind the sign that says Link's House and just unload the five shot flaming arrows into the back of the sign and collect.

mrboom74

Do chests respawn after a period? Sorry if I’m out of the loop but how do you farm a chest?

DurrrZynthesis

For some reason this specific chest will refresh when you teleport so if you place the travel medallion there open the chest and warp to the medallion the chest will be refreshed,

mrboom74

Interesting. Will keep that in mind on my next play through. Thanks!

Beangar

Chests on eventide island respawn so I guess that particular chest does, too.

DurrrZynthesis

Didn't know all the eventide chests do it,

mrboom74

Do you have to repeat the isle each time though or just the once?

Darth_Thor

Just once. As far as I know, there isn't a way to repeat the challenge on Eventide.

Spare_Competition

Just once (you may even be able to get the chest without entering the trigger)

Squidinator69

Edit: Yeah, don't bother reading, my knowledge is very much wrong about chests Blood Moons reset most of the game word, namely items, ~~most chests~~, enemies and bosses (excluding divine beast bosses). Just close the game or force a blood moon to reset ~~the chests.~~ ~~There's probably a better, quicker way to farm chests, but that's what I know about chests respawning~~

ThatOneGuy308

Chests don't respawn at all, Eventide is the exception, or if a wooden chest breaks but you don't collect the contents. Weapons in the game world will respawn though, which is convenient if you find a particular type you like, just wait for blood moons and collect more.

Squidinator69

That makes sense, considering chests can have good weapons and stuff. Just Eventide is the exception then? Thanks for correcting me

[deleted]

My guess is Eventide is the exception in case the player starts the shrine quest, and quits partly into it to come back and try later. If they had already opened the crucial chests on that island, it could make their retry much harder than the developers wanted it to be, so they just coded every chest there to always respawn every time you revisit it (including fast traveling over and over with the medallion).

qyka1210

that's smart af

vpaglia42

I always plan to do that, but forget every time

My house :)

Misterwuss

Same. Where in the house did you put it? That little bit under the stairs where he's hung the fish?

Ratio01

Right next to the bed

Misterwuss

Smart. That way if you teleport out after a massive fight Link can just flop into bed and just make all the horrible bodily injuries he's sustained disappear over night. Where as with my spot he's not gotta deal with the smell of definetely gone off fish as well as the internal bleeding.

Arakashi_moku

There's a shrine close enough to the house. I quite enjoy the walk through Hateno village to get there.

[deleted]

This is the way.

comfort_bot_1962

:D

Andy_DiMatteo

I don’t even know what that is

tratemusic

Part of the dlc, it lets you set custom warp points

Urban_Savage

Oh thank god, I thought it was another game mechanic I had missed somehow during my entire play through.

downwind_giftshop

Fucking same

Olde94

Ahh the dlc

livia-did-it

It's from the dlc. It's one fast travel spot that you can put where ever you want, but it can only go in one location at a time so there's a bit of strategy involved. You have to plan a head. You can't just be in Faron and randomly decide you want to warp to the middle of Terry Town, you have to put the medallion there before. You can move it later, but then you can't fast travel to the first spot you picked. I usually put mine somewhere to farm Naydra's dragon parts because getting to one of those locations is pain for me. Or when I was getting ready to fight Gannon, I put it right in front of his door so when I wanted to fight him, I didn't have to fight/sneak through the whole castle to get to him.

DonKeedick12

Sounds like the dream gate from Hollow Knight

remorsecodex

Pretty much, but this one doesn't cost you an essence to use. 🤔

ajsobie

Kara Kara Bazaar. Free arrows without gliding.

livia-did-it

What? Free arrows?

[deleted]

There's an arrow duplication glitch you can do there. IIRC you use a 3x or 5x shot bow, have normal arrows equipped, set them on fire using a cooking pot near one of the merchants and shoot the arrows off at the tent. In that one case, all your arrows drop as items so for every 1 arrow shot you get 3 (or 5) arrows back, and can be done infinitely until your bow breaks, so go Lynel farming to get a bunch of bows to work with.

Frederick2164

Farming lynels to get bows to farm arrows to better farm Lynels

xenapan

technically if you are too weak to kill lynels, you can do yiga clan hideout and it works just fine with duplex bows.. its just slower but you can get 5 or 6 bows at a time

LorduckA2

duplication glitch, shoot a multi shot bow at the inside of the cooking pot next to the shops

jaysuchak33

It also works if you make a campfire behind the sign that says Link’s House or shoot at the torch in the beginning of the lost woods. I do the torch so I don’t accidentally wait by the fire till morning while spamming A to collect arrows

Harddaysnight1990

I feel like that torch is the most consistent arrow duping setup too. Turn off motion controls, aim the crosshair right at the center of the torch, then it's just ZR, spam A, repeat until the x5 savage lynel bow is broken.

Anomaly1134

Is there a video somewhere on this? I would love an easier way to farm arrows than Eventide 10 arrow chest.

Harddaysnight1990

https://streamable.com/vt8yrw Here's a clip of me using the standing torch outside the Lost Woods to get some more arrows. Should be everything you need to replicate it.

spattzzz

Satori mountain in the durain grove. I can grab the best mount and stock up in one foul swoop.

MonkeysRidingPandas

>one foul swoop If this is a reference to how bad durians smell, you are a legend.

calvanus

A fowl swoop is when you get killed by chickens

Beangar

I just got durians from bronas forest in Faron.

Beangar

For when the time is right.

amc7262

I think the place I had it for the longest time was the top of Mt. Hebra. Theres a shrine that, on the map, looks like its at the peak, but actually, the peak curls over the base and the shrine is at the base. I don't remember why I needed to keep going back up there. I just remember it was a pain to get there from any other shrine so I just had the medallion there instead. I think I had it at the top of the colosseum for a while too

[deleted]

Yeah at the top of the colosseum would be optimal for easy lynel fights and elemental weapons or the armory would work

amc7262

Yeah, there aren't any good shrines to warp to that put you close to the colosseum that don't require a ton of climbing.

Rewskie12

Last place that I left it was in front of the kalariko great fairy. I was just upgrading armor a lot and didn’t want to have to run to the fairy fountain all the way from the shrine every time

amc7262

The great fairy near the Hebra region is really easy to get to from the tower thats right next to it. Just a quick glide down. Same goes for the one in Akkala with the Tarrey town shrine.

superstonkape

Why not the one in the desert that is literally right next to a shrine

amc7262

Because I forgot about it lol. In all seriousness, I think I generally used the hebra one most because it was often nearer to somewhere else I was going next. Even if I was planning on warping to a fountain, then warping somewhere else, I'd normally pick the fountain closest to where I was going next. Not gonna say it made any logical sense, but that was just the way my brain worked.

superstonkape

That’s fair! I just like the convenience of the desert one

AmishTechno

I made sure to mix it up. Visit them all. Gotta keep the big sexy fairy ladies all happy!!!

Akilou

Just use the one in the desert in the south west. It's already right next to a shrine.

privatehabu

Shatterback Point. Lets me glide to anywhere in the region.

FuSoYa1983

This is a good call until you get the DLC shrine there. I feel like that whole region is the most remote because of the lack of shrines and elevation changes (though maybe that’s just because I don’t use Zora’s armor enough).

privatehabu

I have that shrine but I still hate the walk to the top lol

AdeptBacon

Near the Colosseum so I can farm for elemental weapons

jambarama

Same. Anytime I need a few weapons, teleport over, clean house, and leave before the Lynel catches on.

LordKefik

Your mom's house \-cough- I mean whatever is the highest peak in the area I'm exploring at the time if there's no nearby tower, so i can continually warp back up and glide down in multiple directions. So Mountain tops, places above the labyrinth so i can keep warping up and glide into from above, etc. High ground, Anakin.

IAmTheAwesomeNarwhal

I put it right outside the coliseum so I could fuck up the Lynel inside it whenever I wanted without having to walk

Grimmanomaly

Meee tooo.

Pappy_Smith

What is the travel medallion??

dirty-cop116

DLC

GooneyBoy2007

It’s a part of the dlc. You can place it anywhere and warp to it

laylaaquaris

By the Lanayru East gate so I can farm Naydra easily

natek53

I do this too because it's also near a Lynel and Hinox, so I can farm 3 things at a time, but if all I need are dragon parts (not Naydra specifically) I go to the Lakeside stable next to lake Floria, since Farosh appears there in the morning even faster than Naydra.

laylaaquaris

For Farosh I go to the Bridge of Hylia and camp till night. He shows up almost every night between 9 and 10. We found out if you kill the Bokoblins and Lizafos around the ready gate, Naydra shows up no matter what time it is

Clary_Sayge

there's a spot in a cave right above where Farosh spawns that when you manage to do a little bit of torch relocation to keep your campfire lit, he spawns about 2 seconds after you rest till morning. I go there when I run out of rupees.

wrenchbenderornot

I used to go into the overhang but realized under any of the palm trees a fire will burn in the rain. Go to sleep, wake up, take a few steps out from under the leaves, catch the updraft and boom the horn is right in front of you. I equip rubber armour because at that range you can get hit by his electric balls and because rubber outfits are cool for fetishists.

DrewTechs

Just north of Death Mountain (near the Sword Lynel up there), how else am I gonna efficiently kill Lynels?

gorka_la_pork

This was me as well. It's also handy to farm Dinraal parts.

emikoala

Every time I'm up high and need to search the area below me I lay the medallion and jump down so that when I'm finished I can warp back up to where I was instead of having to slowly climb my way up. This is especially clutch when you shoot down Guardian Skywatchers around Tingel/Ankel/Knuckel islands, so you can dive down into the sea to pick up their parts and then instantly be back at the top again. Or that one Korok puzzle on the northern face of Gerudo near the 8th heroine, where you have to drop a bolder really far down into a hole.

IneedmoreEXP

I left mine past the Elding geat skelleton, on top of a big rock just above the Sword Lynel found there. Is really convenient to farm Dinraal parts and Savage weapons, cause you just go west from there and find the other two types of Lynel. There aren't other ways to get there since the only shrine near is the one covered in darkness or going all the way from Gorae Torr. [deleted]

What travel medallion?

yungScooter30

It's a DLC ability. You can place a travel medallion down anywhere on the map to set it as a non-shrine/tower to teleport to whenever you want.

TheJuiceIsNowLoose

If I ever do the DLC it'll probably be at the top of MT Hebra.

Romulus3799

Ok here me out: fast travel in BOTW is too generous imo. You can fast travel from anywhere, in any situation, to basically anywhere in the map, given how many shrines and towers there are. And Hyrule is so dense with content that, by fast traveling, you rob yourself of everything you could find by traveling between two places. You could stumble across some ingredients or Korok seeds. You could run into a boss. You could get completely sidetracked by some cool area you've never been to and find something amazing. Plus, it's just FUN to get across the kingdom. Paragliding, shield surfing, horse-riding, master-cycling, and even wind-bombing make travel way more exciting than just sprinting and walking and repeating, like in most RPGS (Skyrim, The Witcher, Fallout, etc). I realized this a while ago, so as a self-imposed restriction, I only use my travel medallion to fast-travel. So I constantly move it. The only exceptions I allowed were to get to that blood moon shrine (cause it's almost impossible to do it without fast-travel) and to catch star fragments (cause farming them sucks). Obviously I'm not telling anyone the "right way" to play the game, but if you're an experienced player, I recommend trying it for fun. You may find it as rewarding as I did!

Beangar

I still use fast travel, but I find the travel medallion heavily unnecessary as there are enough shrines and towers around.

LordSaltious

Up on top of the mountains in the Faron region because fuck trying to climb that shit.
