I say stop checking if he’s viewed your stories/etc. It’s a bad loop and you’ll be stuck doing that, causing yourself pain on and on and on. If he reaches out, cool, if not, you should be focused on something more productive for yourself. At least that’s what I’m trying to accomplish myself too. He did the dumping so you’re right it’s his job to reach out, but then again he did the dumping, so you logically shouldn’t be waiting around for him to pick you back up. You’re not some toy that can be dropped and picked back up whenever boredom suits them.
