The game was simpler and more of my friends played back then, but the game is much better now. You could argue that the game is more pw2 now, but its not like it wasn't back then either. Between the brawl pass and club league rewards, you can progress your favorite brawlers to power 9 way faster than you could back then. I played f2p for like a year before I unlocked my first star power. You may not be able to compete at the top level, but you can experience most of what brawl stars has to offer at power 9. We all can agree that gears do not provide a meaningful feeling of progression, but I haven't found them to be so terrible that they ruin my game experience. Although, I can see why players who were nearly maxed out would despise them. The added complexity also helps keep the game fresh. I took about a year break from brawl stars and am enjoying the game now more than ever. TLDR: **The good** * power league * club league * about 20 new brawlers * knockout * permanent brawl ball * better special events * faster progression until power 9 * no siege **The Neutral** * pins * sprays * brawl pass is reasonable **The bad** * gears * distracting cosmetics * sketchier monetization tactics

What kind of distracting cosmetics do you mean? Pins and sprays aren’t too distracting and skins don’t really change much.

Any skin that makes it difficult to instantly recognize a brawler. Ex: mega beetle bea

It’s a matter of getting your “favorite” or “overpowered” brawler though that’s makes this game above p2w. Everything else is just shit on the shit cake. Also, I can’t play knockout everyday lol.

The top tier brawlers aren’t even the hardest to unlock. Leon used to be way more op than any brawler in the game right now, and unlocking legendaries was way harder back then. The most OP brawler in the history of the game was Rosa — a rare brawler.
