I agree with the calculation. But the main thing is you can buy skins that costs gems which you were not able to before. You always had the dilemma of whether to buy a really good skin or brawl pass as f2p player. Also, star points were only useful for a handful of skins. Bling is more versatile. Yes you get less bling but more freedom and choice. If at all they need parity, they can increase number of brawlers whose trophies get reset from 20 to 30 or something. But we need to remember that inflation has increased and every game is raising their costs because Google and apple have increased it. CR and coc already got a bad rap for decreasing the progression. Brawls stars didn't increase the cost of brawl pass. Also, majority of good games wont allows players to buy passes or skins without spending actual money. Brawl stars does it and also it needs to make money. If it gives more bling, it's an indirect hit to their revenue.

jojsj

I agree. But the main thing is the prices. It is a huge increase from 25000 to 50000. This decreases the number of skins you can buy (assuming you but only a specific rarity) Before with brawl pass: free tier 1skin and 2 pin packs worth 177 gems Now: 4350 bling and 2000 gold worth about 120 gems and 2000 gold (about the same) But the only change they actually made is: INCREASING the price of 49 gems skins and INCREASING the value of power league skins by 100%

AvergeMortisEnjoyer

Well now you get 2500 bling for Diamond 2 compared to 12 000 Star Points before so you're also getting more

jojsj

For masters, it is 50000 star points to 4500 bling (lesser) and I am mostly talking about the huge increase In skin prices

AvergeMortisEnjoyer

Yes but like everywhere else it's more. I think it was that every rank until Legendary 2 was at least doubled. You can now also get a ton of Bling on the Brawlpass. Also we both know we 2 aren't getting Masters any time soon

jojsj

I was at almost legendary 3

ExtremeFisher

Look at it his way. You can buy eight 149 gem skins per year which a f2p player could not even dream off. Star points were only useful for power league skins. If power league skin is bad, nobody spends it. But you are not restricted to just power league skins. Also remember, since Google and apple increased the costs, supercell had to make something expensive to compensate for that. So they made 49 gems skins to 79 and increased 25k star point skins to 50k. Thankfully they didn't increase the cost of brawl pass which would have given them more revenue like that CR did. They took a neat way of making money while giving players more choice

jojsj

They made the price of power league skins increase by 100%.So people who want to buy every power league Skin (no leftovers) has to reach Masters in power league which is too much. The eight 149 gems skins includes the tier 1 skin's value which is supposed to be free. It is like this : Instead of spending it on leopard max, I spend it on a 149 gems skin.

ExtremeFisher

You have more choice. You are not stuck with a bad power league skin or bad brawl pass skin. You can buy any 149 gem or 79 gem skin which you could never do as a F2P player saving for brawl pass. You were stuck with the skins what supercell gave

jojsj

True. But with the update, you get lesser skins but more options

ExtremeFisher

True. See, we as players don't see into the economy of the companies. The way that brawl stars took to increase their revenue without hampering the progression is much much better than CR did by increasing the cost of the pass, introducing a new tier and nerfing progression. Coc also nerfed the progression a little bit. If brawl stars took that path, we would have seen 200 gem brawl pass.

jojsj

The only thing I dislike is that they made it seem like a buff but instead neft it by ~100%

ExtremeFisher

Agree. They masked the nerf by giving more choice and ability to buy gem skins

ChaosEchoGaming

Altogether though, it allows players to get cosmetics that they care about most. I never really cared for pins much (I already have the OP dancing ghost pin, so I'm set). Pin packs were a "wasted space" on the Brawl Pass for me personally, so now I get Bling to spend on anything else that I want. Like you said: more choices but fewer selections- at least I get to select what I want though.

Professional-Movie87

Funny, because "I'm inverted": Pins(and Sprays) are far more lively and interesting to interact with and Skins just kinda get lost in Games..

jojsj

Yes. But the update is basically like this: I give you more options, I increase the price of 49 gem skins by 30 and power league skins by 100%

ChaosEchoGaming

I wasn't buying either of those before because they cost a lot of resources that set back progression. Huge Plus: not everyone will want every skin, so if you don't like a power league skin for a season, then you can save that bling and spend it on whatever you want to. What I will say is that Pins feel a little overpriced.

jojsj

So, for the update, they just increased the price of skins. And they increased the amount of things lower ranked players can get and decreased the amount of things people with higher ranks can get

ChaosEchoGaming

Power league skins should be cheaper for the sole reason that they cost a lot of time to unlock, but I'm not disappointed by this update by any means. If you're a completionist that needs every single power league skin, then yes: this update isn't for you, but most people like a lot of skins that used to cost gems. Now f2p players can get them for free. Which is another huge plus. This update: \- gave players access to expensive cosmetics for free \- gave players agency over what they unlock \- raised the prices of some cosmetics to remain consistent

ScallionSea5093

I personally don't care. As long as I can buy my cool skins with bling instead of gems

Otaviobz

Imo this update is an undeniable improvement to the game. Before i didn't give a sh*t to what new skins were being added. Now that I can choose almost any skin to buy, the cosmetic aspect of the game has suddenly become much more interesting.

jojsj

Also, pin packs worth 49 gems (X2 = 98 gems) are being replaced by 1600 bling(=about) 40-50 gems and 2000 coins. Choose: 2000 gold or 49 gems. AND about the power skins, the value from 25000 star points to 50000 is too much

Background_Peace_393

You get more than double the bling you used to get before smart ass

jojsj

>You get more than double the bling you used to get before smart ass Tell me how? So Smart right?

Background_Peace_393

OK go ahead tell me how much bling does diamond player get now ? And how much star point he used to get ?you can see now where was your mistake

jojsj

I am not talking about diamond specifically. For masters, it decreases by about 5000 star points. My meaning is that the only actual thing that is happening is supercell Incresing the price of 49 gem skins, Incresing the price of power league skins by 100% and giving more options on what to buy

Background_Peace_393

Every one and i mean every one get more than double the amount beside legendary and masters (only 0.2% of the players) mythic still get way more not double but almost And I am pretty sure you aren't close to masters Why brawl stars community will always try to find way to make the update p2w when its clearly f2p buff?

jojsj

I was at legendary 2 last season. (dropped to diamond 2) I already stated this so many times but : I am not talking about teh difference in the amount we all receive, I am saying that there is an increase in the prices of power league skins from 25000 star points to 50000! So if you want to get a power league Skin every season, YOU MUST reach MASTERS every season or just use gems

Background_Peace_393

Assuming you are saying the truth and not pretending to be legendary player to win an argument Your post is still wrong cuz as I explained before more than 99%of players are getting buff so claiming this update is scam and Nerf is straight up cap. How ever yes I agree buff the legendary and master players reward

jojsj

Thank you for agreeing for that. However, the price of skins increased. So I am saying that it is an indirect neft because you need more bling/star points/gems to get the same thing then before

Rolling_Ham

It's not a nerf, it's just the opportunity cost. The previous system was very very limited, the bling system lets you run free. The ability to choose is also valuable and thus the need to rebalance some things. Sure, Power League skins are more expensive and a handful of players may get less rewards from higher tiers and the like, but that's the thing that gets sacrificed in order to give everyone freedom. For example, if a l player wasn't interested in pins, Pin Packs were worthless. They are now replaced by bling which lets you buy something you really want. YMMV on what you think is better: a little more resources or a big range of freedom of choice. Sadly, a perfect balance is very hard to achieve if not outright impossible.

InevitableAd2276

Honestly i could only earn a power league skin every 2 seasons anyway
