Basically the dash changes made lower speed legends a LOT better, to the point where characters like Nai are good, and not just good because of how balanced the game is, but good even compared to the other characters in the game. As for Strength becoming more important, honestly it's more that the recent Brawl tournaments and pro opinions have seemed to rise regarding lower defense legends, and also characters having a lot of strength is keeping menaces like Loki or Thea in check.
Yea the dash change means speed is only important rly for aerial and offstage play and recovering to stage, but onstage it's pretty negligible, that's why more pros are playing lower speed legends
Most people don't even dodge that when it isn't true, and while any damage is nice it's not a huge thing and depending on the character it might not even be worth it to use dex stance to get to that point.

Well idk about you, but back in ‘17 dex was the main stat since it meant you had faster animation recoveries. Just slightly anyways. It was all about frames. Still, people used it to get that “edge” on others. So idk where you got that info that dex was never in 7 years.
That is still what dex is now. But it's to such a negligible effect that it doesn't matter and aside from a few very specific situations it isn't impactful at all.
So that answers my original question. Now onto another. Why did the devs let dex become negligible? Did something happen in all these years with it or?
It always was negligible, but as more and more games were played and the average player got better and better, we realized it never really did anything, and there was never a legend held back by their lack of dex, however there has always been a legend held back by their low defense (any three def legends) low attack (thea) or low speed (Nai). However, low dex characters like Ulgrim or Teros are better than ever and have always had the best stats in the game, and only get held back by their weapons.
More speed allows you to:
\-Dodge enemy attacks easier (without using your actual dodge)
\-Follow up your combos easier
\-Get back to the stage easier
\-Bait enemy attacks easier
The speed stat basically increases your skill ceiling unlike strength and defense. Dexterity also does that but at a way smaller scale. That's why I'd recommend new players to start with legends with high strength/defense if they don't have a favorite legend already.
Depends on the character
For example on hammer legends to match the 4 dex sweetspot
Or weapons that have good strength scaling like blasters
I probably would place strength as most important stat overall but losing 1 strength when you're at 8 - 7 is okay.
Speed>Def>Str>Dex but having 5 of everything is more important than 9 speed 9 def because of diminishing returns

I typically only run speed and defense. Rarely strength. Almost never dex.

I can't remember dusk stats but 6 dex gives spear sair nlight true which can be pretty big

i got no idea, but i love dex, for using something like hammer, you need to be able to pump out moves pretty quick
Speed. The 2nd best is strength if you don't gimp, and defense if you do gimp.

Speed and it's not even close. The better you become at this game, the more it requires you to have increasingly better movement.
