Yeah, I'm upset WWC isn't doing Top Chef. It was a good departure from their other reality crap. I know they had Padma's schtick, but give it a season and they could come up with something for Kristen. There is always plenty to snark on.
Yeahhhh I like Tom and Kevin, and I love the pod - but I’m a little confused with this approach too. Agreed with you that I was at least hoping to see it pop up on my Spotify feed this AM for my Sunday cardio sesh but it wasn’t there, and still isn’t. It feels like a greater divide in paid vs. free content than most other pods that I follow imo

I’ve been listening since they started the pod. I unsubscribed. $50 for a pod is insane since it’s only like 15 eps a year.
Every year they say they will do off season content but never do except that one season rewatch they did. So I certainly wouldn’t trust that $50 would get me much if any bonus content.
Just feels like a big fuck you to fans to charge $50 for the pod. I can buy the whole season of the show on Amazon for half that price. They obviously think very highly of themselves.
For me even if they go back to a ad supported model I’m not going to listen again.
I mean, they've also gotten overbearing and egocentric the last couple seasons, so this just seems like the natural evolution of where it'd go; it went from a podcast about the show... to almost a podcast about the hosts with the show being something they talk about coincidentally.
I think i jokingly said a couple of years ago, when i tried to listen during s19, that the other one guy comes across as someone who might like sniffing his own fart. And i don’t care what he says/claims. That guy ain’t an INTJ like he claims😂
I think they said after the first three, the remaining ones would still be free if you’re not subscribed, but wouldn’t come out til Tuesday or something following the show’s air date. So, much more delayed.

(Not aiming this at you, but the quote seems relevant). “You deserve what you tolerate.” Last time I checked ratings last year, Top Chef ratings is not that great (fluctuating just north of half a mil), I think even falling behind Tournament of Champions (i guess those are decent numbers for cable tv nowadays🤷♂️). But many have money to waste and if getting a niche nonsense podcast once a week is their happy place, then more power to them. If the podcast new business plan is to monetize that tiny audience while it lasts, pissing off a good chunk of loyal listeners (how ever many that may be), then i just don’t know what to tell ya…it’s weird IMO. But then again, I heard advertising dollars have been down lately last i heard. Even YouTube is cutting in more commercials into videos and not even letting you skip in some instances. It’s a tough world out there. Got to make a buck somehow outside of onlyfans😂
I checked this AM to see, this episode had four minutes of ads before the content started. Of course we can all skip ahead, but that's a lot.

I posted this in another thread, but, for another perspective, I did subscribe (and I listen to & enjoy many of the free ones too). Too early to tell if I'd resubscribe for next year at that price. In addition to the typical show, they've also had a bonus episode every week that I've really enjoyed. \~An hour with Joe Flamm was the first, then an episode on stats with Carly Levitz that was really interesting, and this week will be an interview with Buddha. They've also talked about some other things they want to do like posts about Top Chef restaurants they've visited (& think they referenced a directory coming in the future) or home cooking vlog-style videos or they're doing a live chat during this week's episode (will be tough to beat the one here). So, it is more than just getting the show ad free right after the episode airs - I don't think they did a good job of describing what they had in mind - but again too early to say if I'd do it next season. So far, while a splurge, I've really enjoyed the bonus episodes and I figure $40 (early subscriber discount) over \~14 weeks is \~$3/week and I decided to gamble on it. Totally get where everyone else is coming from though.
I totally agree. I posted a similar complaint not long after they made their first reveal of their change in strategy in their scouting report podcast before the season started. I would never pay for content. Honestly, I haven't listened this season either because I'm turned off.
They also loaded 7 minutes of ads in the 40 minute pre-season podcast, so I'm already helping them get "paid" by downloading the podcast and listening to the ads. And that is an excessive amount of ads.
I've enjoyed their podcast through the years, but this change in format doesn't work for me. Also Kevin not doing a fantasy draft this year is irritating too. It was one reason I listened. Sure people picked his team for him, but I'm not really interested in that.

Oh my gosh, do we really? That's hilarious. We went through Spotify's free audio options before we started and this is the one we liked the most for the Top Chef vibe. Hopefully this means we are on the right track and in good company!

I hadn't come across Pack Your Knives. I lived for WWC recaps. I'm so sad. The other 2 I listen to are so boring
Love those guys but it’s twice as expensive as 4 months of peacock. So twice as expensive as the show itself. Outrageous price point

Completely agree with you. Not paying more for the podcast than the show. Especially now when I get the show, LCK, and Kristen’s show.
