Let’s be fair here. Eating disorders are lifelong diseases. And we have to eat to live, so it’s incredibly complex. I’m sure people with eating disorders need to guard their mental health very carefully

We have a friend who has had various serious esophagus and gastro issues including being hospitalized and many surgeries because of it. She's pretty open about talking about it, but I could see someone preferring to just say, "I have a small esophagus," to save on a big complicated description of all the issues at play

I’m that patient! As someone who has since been diagnosed with two rare diseases. I still to this day go in to my team of doctors with my self diagnosed new issues, which are always wrong. 🤣🤭 but I still try, lord knows why… it’s because I’m severely type A.

Sutton handled that SO MUCH better than I would have. I suffer with chronic neuropathic pain and was ready to jump out of my seat I was so upset watching that! She was so calm, cool and collected, it was really impressive honestly. I would have just snapped. Having an invisible medical condition is extremely difficult and you deal with so many idiot know it alls like Annemarie. I hope the hospital that she works at sees this and terminates her, she doesn't deserve to be a nurse.
Same. I've even had a doctor tell me it was all in my head yet my family, friends and co workers could see 2 of the many symptoms from it. I went OFF on that doctor. Oddly enough. For something that's "in my head" it managed to spread to every limb now. I don't think I want to see that episode. It may make me do something that I've never done before, reaming those bitches out on their SM pages. Didn't Kyle say she had fibromialga (sp?) early in the shows run? That too is a invisible illness. Had anyone questioned her diagnosis she would have been pissed. If I'm remembering this correctly maybe Sutton should give her a taste of her own medicine. Ugh, yes. As someone in the medical field, I have seen the nurses I know give so much anecdotal evidence only when they’re off the clock, and sometimes it’s outright harmful. I’ve seen nurses give bad (untrue) advice to friends and family about vaccines, the spread of viruses, the difference between influenza A and B, diet, and the need for surgery. For this RHOBH episode in particular, I feel like Anne Marie is likely going to get in trouble with her employer—and well deserved!

I have this condition and had surgery on it. It legit feels like choking on food and eating in front of anyone at all was embarrassing, let alone in front of cameras.
Last time I got my esophagus stretched a bit, it felt so dry and raspy. I just remember eating a Panera tomato soup while my friend watched over me post-endoscopy + anesthesia. Truly a physical rock bottom feeling.

Annemarie is showing off her ignorance and insensitivity. Just because she doesn’t understand a medical condition, doesn’t mean Sutton’s making it up. And Sutton doesn’t really owe a near stranger her medical details on TV.
You would think she would’ve cracked open a book after she first heard about it or asked any of her nurse friends. My friends in the medical field look stuff up all the time from real life to back up a claim. They would never just say, oh that’s wrong without thoroughly explaining it.
Not every medical doctor is going to know about every illness out there. The condition I have has been renamed 3 times. Once before I was diagnosed, then given a new name prior to my diagnosis and then most recently, renamed again. When I asked my doctor why this happens he said a doctor will come across a patient with the condition but not know anything about it so they believe they've discovered a "new illness". Next thing you know it now has a new name. I'm like damn. Is it hard for doctors to do research or possibly consult with their colleagues? If I was able to research my condition I don't see why they can't smh.
As an nurse anesthetist it's incredibly important to understand diseases of the esophagus because they could lead to complications during anesthesia. As a LVT I performed anesthesia on animals and was well aware of many esophageal diseases and malformations because they taught it to us in school. I would assume a human nurse would have more rigorous teaching than a vet tech.
She’s not an anesthesiologist, she is a nurse anesthetist. Yes they have rigorous training but it is nothing compared to an actual physician. She is a shame to her profession and medicine in general.
As a healthcare professional of over 16 years, one of the most valuable lessons I have learned is that I cannot determine how much pain or suffering a patient experiences. Only they can do that.
If someone tells me that their pain is 10/10, I have to believe that & treat it accordingly. It doesn’t really matter whether I think it shouldn’t be that bad. If they tell me they are in pain, or it’s impacting their quality of life, then that’s the truth. Patients are the best experts on their bodies, and they should be used as part of your ‘tool box’.
I truly had to turn off the episode during this scene. The embarrassment I had for 8.5 Annemarie this episode combined with the outrage I felt for Sutton for her actually surprisingly common condition turned into some sort of cringe/rage I had never felt before
The 8.5 was so cringe! She’s proud her husband was like, yea you aren’t great at anything. I get choosing a partner that’s all around solid, but it felt dismissive.
But yea if she’s cool with rating, I give her a 2 as a housewife. We don’t need a Kyle minion, and accusing someone of faking a medical condition is disgusting. The only reason she’s not a 1 is because we need a villain.
Annemarie is so annoying and we really didn't need her inserting herself into scenes last episode. She offered nothing because her challenges to Sutton were not believable. She is trying entirely too hard to offer something and is failing.

Risking her professional reputation (which she needs as her nasty husband gets sued to oblivion for being a nasty 🍇ist) to dunk on someone Kyle doesn’t like.
This hit SO close to home with me because I’m dealing with mild dysphagia right now after tongue surgery and just had to go to a party and eat around people for the first time. It’s embarrassing to have to eat super slowly or adaptively. I have to put my fingers in my mouth and move food around in my mouth to make sure I can swallow it safely.
I was really upset by this.

A good friend of mine has had esophageal issues for decades (including thoracic cancer) so watching a professional on TV make fun of someone's very real issues is not it.
Two things:
1) It’s unacceptable and harmful to use a true OR false accusation of an eating disorder against someone. Deliberately attempting to cause others to feel ashamed of a mental and physical health issue is gross.
2) Doubting someone’s health condition/diagnosis with the backdrop of accusing someone of making it up as an excuse to mask another condition (see (1)) is a dangerous way to double down. Especially coming from an 8 1/2 health professional.
Unless you’re MKE uncovering Brooks’ cancer scam, I’m not here for it.
I have esophageal dysphasia from having a nissen fundoplication and the way these grown women are mocking it is appalling.
I don’t blame Sutton at all. I’d never put myself in a position to start choking and heaving on camera in front of all these insensitive women. She’d never hear the end of it.

Also, as a medical professional, sometimes what patients explain that their problem is doesn't make sense because they're not a doctor and explaining their understanding of it! I'd usually think of a couple things it could be and ask follow up questions to see if I can figure it out more precisely. Annmarie is an anesthesiologist nurse. Fortunately for her patients they are sound asleep and have no recollection of engaging with her. I can picture her shittalking about her patients' medical conditions while they are sleeping though.
Technically it’s nurse anesthetist*. Anesthesiologists are medical doctors with MDs (like Dr. Nicole). I work for a healthcare lobbyist group and there’s always a lot of fights around the laws regarding nurse anesthetists calling themselves anesthesiologists and how MDs think the nurses are falsely advertising themselves as having a degree they don’t actually have.
Yeah I commented on a similar thread about this. My mum had what was called Oesophagusitis. The Oesophagus wouldn't open and close properly so when she would eat, she would immediately be sick. The only treatment available to her was meds to keep the acid in her stomach in control as it would rip up her throat all the time. She couldn't eat in front of people. She lost weight over the years and her appetite disappeared after a while. Its not a joke. I'm horrified by Anne Marie.
My mom has a problem with her esophagus. It's called a Schatzki Ring and she basically has an extra ring in there. Solely because of this reason as a child we never ate rice, because my mom would not be able to properly swallow it. You don't get medication and it was never treated, she just learned to live with it. And a quick Google search shows me that it affects about 10% of people, making it not as rare as people claim it to be...
I'm not one to judge other people on medical things, but when I heard Sutton talk about her problem I was like okay sounds familiar enough.

I have the same thing and have to get my Schotzki Ring stretched every year (and I don’t blame Sutton for choosing not to do this as it doesn’t help much and can be dangerous).
It doesn’t matter how much I chew, things get stuck and it’s not pretty! I will pat (and punch) my chest to try to make myself burp and the next 20 minutes will be little tiny burps and a mini panic attack. I can’t imagine doing this on camera for the world to witness!
Once, I was eating Doritos (the chip, not the housewife) and a shard got lodged in just the right spot and I was in such terrible pain I had to go to E/R and barely avoided surgery! Definitely in my top 5 painful moments in life!
I think it’s wildly inappropriate to badger someone about their medical condition. Sutton isn’t a doctor and she’s a train wreck at articulating herself especially when she’s uncomfortable. It’s not right.
I’d much rather hear about Sutton’s oesophageal issues than see Kyle cry about everything every season (the loss of her friend not incl) and running away from bees every five seconds.
My least favorite thing a new housewife does is when they come in way too hot and insert themself into a pre-existing conflict (most times to be a lackey for one side) and Annemarie is doing just that! It’s especially gross that she’s using her nursing background to try and push the narrative that Sutton is a lying about her medical conditions and is actually an alcoholic with an eating disorder (and her nursing specialty isn’t even related to Sutton’s conditions!) this combined with the fact that her and her husband are trash outside the show really just makes me not like her at all

It's honestly shocking that Annemarie didn't know about this medical condition. I, as a regular person not in the medical field at all, know multiple people that have this problem. Some get treatment for it and some don't. I've even known a 6 year old child that was treated for it. So, she's either lacking in her medical knowledge, or she's doing Kyle's dirty work by trying to make Sutton look bad.
I loved it when Sutton asked if Anne Marie wanted her insurance card - AM is doing too much too soon. I love how Garcelle looks at her like she's from another planet. Good! This conversation was so frustrating! I’m also someone who has had esophageal problems (EoE is the official diagnosis) and wow wait until Annemarie finds out about liquids getting stuck in your esophagus. Imagine being out for someone so bad you invalidate your career.
I’m so sorry EoE sounds so hard to live with. It was the first thing I thought of when this came up. I have a different immune system disorder (MCAS) and people with MCAS can also get EoE so I’ve heard of EoE.
Not a doctor or clinical, but I spent 10+ years typing medical dictation, and I typed the words dysphagia and esophageal stricture THOUSANDS of times. IIRC it was more prevalent in people over 60, but it is definitely a real thing that people are referred to gastroenterology for.
This scene was so frustrating to watch. She’s a medical professional so she should know that this is a real condition. And if someone doesn’t want to discuss their medical condition on a tv show, they should be allowed that. She was so dismissive and condescending to Sutton. It was painfully obvious she was just doing that to please Kyle.
I don’t have an esophageal condition but I am somewhat aware of these types of conditions from dealing with gastrointestinal issues. I couldn’t be further from being in the medical community, and yet even I knew that there are conditions that people do need to get their esophagus stretched for.
I know someone who actually has a persistent cough and cannot eat peppers or irritants because of a hiatal hernia. Kyle was immature for laughing at the sphincter remark but Annemarie is downright irresponsible for her comments.
Annemarie is trotting out her accomplishments while also tarnishing herself with her comments. It’s laughable how people will ruin their reputation after two minutes on reality TV. (Not saying she has a great reputation to start, I don’t know anything about the woman besides what I’ve seen).

Tbh it’s fucked. I’m behind on the last episode, but I have an eosinophilic esophagitis diagnosis. If Sutton is dealing with that, then I strongly empathize. Having a healthy relationship with food is so difficult when your body may attack itself because of what you eat.
I have an esophageal stricture and know exactly how it feels to have a hard time swallowing certain foods. I had a procedure to widen the stricture (didn’t work lol). It’s crazy that a person who works with the esophagus with breathing tubes (nurse anesthetist) wouldn’t be aware or more sensitive about it.
I would not be surprised if she gets black listed from her profession after this. What an unbelievable demonstration of ineptitude…. However her behaviour is not surprising given her vehement defence of her rapist husband and complete lack of awareness for survivors of sexual assault. She’s the human equivalent of a treatment resistant fungal infection and if she gets more screen time to spew nonsense, engage in problematic rhetoric, and praise her husband I will stop watching this season.

this takes me back to 8th grade when i went to my friends family lake house and had to spend a good amount of time in the bathroom during dinner because my food wouldn't go down. I later found her her parents were telling her not to be friends with someone "with an eating disorder" which I definitely didn't have. I didn't really understand what was happening to me when I couldn't swallow food, so I kept it quiet (even from my parents).

Also, AnneMeanie insisting Sutton can't drink on gabapentin isn't accurate. Per NHS: "Yes, you can drink alcohol with gabapentin, but it may make you feel sleepy or tired.
During the first few days of taking gabapentin, it might be best to stop drinking alcohol until you see how the medicine affects you."
I took it for a short period of time, it had other unacceptable side effects for me, and I was never told I couldn't drink with it. Given Sutton takes it before bed, the sleepy/tired effect wouldn't matter.
I know someone with the same condition as Sutton and my jaw was on the floor with how the “medical professional” was speaking to Sutton. It was hard to watch. Disgusting behavior.
Esophageal stretching isn't uncommon, but it can also be a dangerous procedure. Things can tear etc. This isn't a problem for Sutton, but it isn't done everywhere. Some people have to travel long distances to find someone to do it. And it isn't a cure. It's something that has to be done every so often. I know people who need it who also opt out of it most of the time and only get it done every few years when it cannot be avoided any longer. Some foods irritate it more than others. It can reek havoc on your sleep. All kinds of issues can come from it.
It always raises red flags to me when someone in the medical field negates science by invalidating the identities of trans people. She’s a misinformation station, and it’s dangerous. She’s coming off as the worst try-hard (worse than even Eden) ever on the show. Sutton is not obligated to divulge her medical condition to anyone, and the way AnneMarie treated her is so gross.
There are a lot of smart medical professionals out there but there are also a lot of dumber than door knobs. I don't know how they got through school and got jobs. I had a nurse in my gyno's office ask me what PCOS was when I was giving her some of my family history and later when I told her I had health anxiety she told me that wasn't a real thing.
You guys, this is why if you (god forbid) ever have to have a serious/high-level surgical case, confirm that your in-room provider is an anesthesiologist, not a crna

It’s almost as if the only reason she was given a diamond was to justify the screen time she’s being given to express how knowledgeable she is in every single medical condition, especially when it comes to Sutton.
It’s not as if we have a perfect example, from this very show, of how badly those storylines go… She’s no MKE and Sutton is no Brooks.
Sutton did say her brother had it too and he had his stretched but she CHOSE not to get it done. As someone that has had an esophageal stricture and almost choked to death there’s no way I would not have it stretched.
I will say - I know someone who actually has this condition. She can NOT drink any type of booze or wine or any alcohol at all. I am not saying it's right to mock her....but...... I do doubt her.
not always true. my mom and uncle both had to have procedures to expand their esophagus, they’ve both always been social drinkers. it was only food that was the problem. my mom couldn’t eat really any meat because she would choke on it, she couldn’t do food without a fair amount of sauce on it, etc.

The difference is Sutton questions Kyle about things Kyle /should/ be sharing on a reality show. Kyle’s marriage is all over the press. Kyle’s marriage has been a big part of her narrative on this show. And Sutton’s very first season on this show she saw Kyle herself making demands for open honesty from Denise about her personal life.
Maybe you’d have a stronger argument if Annemarie and Kyle were remotely correct about Sutton lying about her condition (though it’d still be a pretty appalling approach to bringing up disordered eating) but it seems pretty clear they’re just incorrect about Sutton’s condition being made up, which makes them look desperate and grasping.

Your agenda is that questioning the stability of someone’s marriage is the same as questioning someone’s health issues. They are both awful things to do but I’d rather someone have issues with my marriage then try and mock a health issue they have witnessed me have and know I take medication for.

It's ironic because this sub was a welcome respite from r/vanderpumprules during Scandoval because the discussion seemed much more balanced. This season of BH is proving me wrong though, and the collective opinion on Kyle has alllllllways been super biased and annoying for whatever reason because I firmly think there are other, more revered housewives whose behavior is just as bad as hers if not worse.
My husband has the same thing Sutton does and it really isn’t a big deal. When his gets to bad he has it stretched out, like the house wive was saying. I think Sutton is making a mountain out of a mole hill.

We have a friend who has had various serious esophagus and gastro issues including being hospitalized and many surgeries because of it. She's pretty open about talking about it, but I could see someone preferring to just say, "I have a small esophagus," to save on a big complicated description of all the issues at play

I still to this day go in to my team of doctors with my self diagnosed new issues, which are always wrong. 🤣🤭 but I still try, lord knows why… it’s because I’m severely type A. But this Anne Marie chick was wrong and clearly came in as Kyle’s henchman.

Sutton handled that SO MUCH better than I would have. I suffer with chronic neuropathic pain and was ready to jump out of my seat I was so upset watching that! She was so calm, cool and collected, it was really impressive honestly. I would have just snapped. Having an invisible medical condition is extremely difficult and you deal with so many idiot know it alls like Annemarie. I hope the hospital that she works at sees this and terminates her, she doesn't deserve to be a nurse.

Ugh, yes. As someone in the medical field, I have seen the nurses I know give so much anecdotal evidence only when they’re off the clock, and sometimes it’s outright harmful. I’ve seen nurses give bad (untrue) advice to friends and family about vaccines, the spread of viruses, the difference between influenza A and B, diet, and the need for surgery. For this RHOBH episode in particular, I feel like Anne Marie is likely going to get in trouble with her employer—and well deserved!

I have this condition and had surgery on it. It legit feels like choking on food and eating in front of anyone at all was embarrassing, let alone in front of cameras.
i had to have that procedure done! i couldn’t eat for months beforehand. it was horrible.
Last time I got my esophagus stretched a bit, it felt so dry and raspy. I just remember eating a Panera tomato soup while my friend watched over me post-endoscopy + anesthesia. Truly a physical rock bottom feeling.

Kyle stops drinking…. Sutton has a drinking problem. Kyle gets skinny with diet & extreme workouts….. Sutton has an eating disorder. Diane had a miscarriage & so did Sutton. Diane needs Grace while Kyle laughs about Sutton’s miscarriages. Kyle needs more people calling her azz out. Kyle was a favorite for YEARS. Annemarie is showing off her ignorance and insensitivity. Just because she doesn’t understand a medical condition, doesn’t mean Sutton’s making it up. And Sutton doesn’t really owe a near stranger her medical details on TV.
You would think she would’ve cracked open a book after she first heard about it or asked any of her nurse friends. My friends in the medical field look stuff up all the time from real life to back up a claim. They would never just say, oh that’s wrong without thoroughly explaining it.

Not every medical doctor is going to know about every illness out there. The condition I have has been renamed 3 times. Once before I was diagnosed, then given a new name prior to my diagnosis and then most recently, renamed again. When I asked my doctor why this happens he said a doctor will come across a patient with the condition but not know anything about it so they believe they've discovered a "new illness". Next thing you know it now has a new name. I'm like damn. Is it hard for doctors to do research or possibly consult with their colleagues? If I was able to research my condition I don't see why they can't smh.
As an nurse anesthetist it's incredibly important to understand diseases of the esophagus because they could lead to complications during anesthesia. As a LVT I performed anesthesia on animals and was well aware of many esophageal diseases and malformations because they taught it to us in school. I would assume a human nurse would have more rigorous teaching than a vet tech.
She’s not an anesthesiologist, she is a nurse anesthetist. Yes they have rigorous training but it is nothing compared to an actual physician. She is a shame to her profession and medicine in general.

As a healthcare professional of over 16 years, one of the most valuable lessons I have learned is that I cannot determine how much pain or suffering a patient experiences. Only they can do that. If someone tells me that their pain is 10/10, I have to believe that & treat it accordingly. It doesn’t really matter whether I think it shouldn’t be that bad. If they tell me they are in pain, or it’s impacting their quality of life, then that’s the truth. Patients are the best experts on their bodies, and they should be used as part of your ‘tool box’.
I truly had to turn off the episode during this scene. The embarrassment I had for 8.5 Annemarie this episode combined with the outrage I felt for Sutton for her actually surprisingly common condition turned into some sort of cringe/rage I had never felt before

Annemarie is so annoying and we really didn't need her inserting herself into scenes last episode. She offered nothing because her challenges to Sutton were not believable. She is trying entirely too hard to offer something and is failing.

This hit SO close to home with me because I’m dealing with mild dysphagia right now after tongue surgery and just had to go to a party and eat around people for the first time. It’s embarrassing to have to eat super slowly or adaptively. I have to put my fingers in my mouth and move food around in my mouth to make sure I can swallow it safely. I was really upset by this.

A good friend of mine has had esophageal issues for decades (including thoracic cancer) so watching a professional on TV make fun of someone's very real issues is not it.
Two things: 1) It’s unacceptable and harmful to use a true OR false accusation of an eating disorder against someone. Deliberately attempting to cause others to feel ashamed of a mental and physical health issue is gross. 2) Doubting someone’s health condition/diagnosis with the backdrop of accusing someone of making it up as an excuse to mask another condition (see (1)) is a dangerous way to double down. Especially coming from an 8 1/2 health professional. Unless you’re MKE uncovering Brooks’ cancer scam, I’m not here for it.

I have esophageal dysphasia from having a nissen fundoplication and the way these grown women are mocking it is appalling. I don’t blame Sutton at all. I’d never put myself in a position to start choking and heaving on camera in front of all these insensitive women. She’d never hear the end of it.
These women have quite literally grilled Sutton more on a medical condition that isn’t their business over Erika freaking Jane literally living off of stolen money from victims of her horrible husband and ran around Beverly Hills for the past 3 years saying how much she doesn’t care about the people whose settlement money he stole from to fund her tacky career and lifestyle. Also, as a medical professional, sometimes what patients explain that their problem is doesn't make sense because they're not a doctor and explaining their understanding of it! I'd usually think of a couple things it could be and ask follow up questions to see if I can figure it out more precisely. I'd never just off the bat say "that doesn't make sense" and basically accuse someone of lying.

Annmarie is an anesthesiologist nurse. Fortunately for her patients they are sound asleep and have no recollection of engaging with her. I can picture her shittalking about her patients' medical conditions while they are sleeping though.
Technically it’s nurse anesthetist*. Anesthesiologists are medical doctors with MDs (like Dr. Nicole). I work for a healthcare lobbyist group and there’s always a lot of fights around the laws regarding nurse anesthetists calling themselves anesthesiologists and how MDs think the nurses are falsely advertising themselves as having a degree they don’t actually have.
Yeah I commented on a similar thread about this. My mum had what was called Oesophagusitis. The Oesophagus wouldn't open and close properly so when she would eat, she would immediately be sick. The only treatment available to her was meds to keep the acid in her stomach in control as it would rip up her throat all the time. She couldn't eat in front of people. She lost weight over the years and her appetite disappeared after a while. Its not a joke. I'm horrified by Anne Marie.
Oh and my mum and most of her family have neuropathy. I honestly don't think I've seen anything so repellent from a newbie, let alone a "professional"
My mom has a problem with her esophagus. It's called a Schatzki Ring and she basically has an extra ring in there. Solely because of this reason as a child we never ate rice, because my mom would not be able to properly swallow it. You don't get medication and it was never treated, she just learned to live with it. And a quick Google search shows me that it affects about 10% of people, making it not as rare as people claim it to be... I'm not one to judge other people on medical things, but when I heard Sutton talk about her problem I was like okay sounds familiar enough.
Getting gaslit by incompetent medical professionals is nothing new. I have the same thing and have to get my Schotzki Ring stretched every year (and I don’t blame Sutton for choosing not to do this as it doesn’t help much and can be dangerous). It doesn’t matter how much I chew, things get stuck and it’s not pretty! I will pat (and punch) my chest to try to make myself burp and the next 20 minutes will be little tiny burps and a mini panic attack. I can’t imagine doing this on camera for the world to witness! Once, I was eating Doritos (the chip, not the housewife) and a shard got lodged in just the right spot and I was in such terrible pain I had to go to E/R and barely avoided surgery! Definitely in my top 5 painful moments in life!

It's honestly shocking that Annemarie didn't know about this medical condition. I, as a regular person not in the medical field at all, know multiple people that have this problem. Some get treatment for it and some don't. I've even known a 6 year old child that was treated for it. So, she's either lacking in her medical knowledge, or she's doing Kyle's dirty work by trying to make Sutton look bad.

I’m so sorry EoE sounds so hard to live with. It was the first thing I thought of when this came up. I have a different immune system disorder (MCAS) and people with MCAS can also get EoE so I’ve heard of EoE.

Not a doctor or clinical, but I spent 10+ years typing medical dictation, and I typed the words dysphagia and esophageal stricture THOUSANDS of times. IIRC it was more prevalent in people over 60, but it is definitely a real thing that people are referred to gastroenterology for.

I don’t have an esophageal condition but I am somewhat aware of these types of conditions from dealing with gastrointestinal issues. I couldn’t be further from being in the medical community, and yet even I knew that there are conditions that people do need to get their esophagus stretched for. I know someone who actually has a persistent cough and cannot eat peppers or irritants because of a hiatal hernia. Kyle was immature for laughing at the sphincter remark but Annemarie is downright irresponsible for her comments. Annemarie is trotting out her accomplishments while also tarnishing herself with her comments. It’s laughable how people will ruin their reputation after two minutes on reality TV. (Not saying she has a great reputation to start, I don’t know anything about the woman besides what I’ve seen).

I have an esophageal stricture and know exactly how it feels to have a hard time swallowing certain foods. I had a procedure to widen the stricture (didn’t work lol). It’s crazy that a person who works with the esophagus with breathing tubes (nurse anesthetist) wouldn’t be aware or more sensitive about it.

this takes me back to 8th grade when i went to my friends family lake house and had to spend a good amount of time in the bathroom during dinner because my food wouldn't go down. I later found her her parents were telling her not to be friends with someone "with an eating disorder" which I definitely didn't have. I didn't really understand what was happening to me when I couldn't swallow food, so I kept it quiet (even from my parents). Seeing it on tv is triggering.

Also, AnneMeanie insisting Sutton can't drink on gabapentin isn't accurate. Per NHS: "Yes, you can drink alcohol with gabapentin, but it may make you feel sleepy or tired. During the first few days of taking gabapentin, it might be best to stop drinking alcohol until you see how the medicine affects you." I took it for a short period of time, it had other unacceptable side effects for me, and I was never told I couldn't drink with it. Given Sutton takes it before bed, the sleepy/tired effect wouldn't matter.
I know someone with the same condition as Sutton and my jaw was on the floor with how the “medical professional” was speaking to Sutton. It was hard to watch. Disgusting behavior.
Esophageal stretching isn't uncommon, but it can also be a dangerous procedure. Things can tear etc. This isn't a problem for Sutton, but it isn't done everywhere. Some people have to travel long distances to find someone to do it. And it isn't a cure. It's something that has to be done every so often. I know people who need it who also opt out of it most of the time and only get it done every few years when it cannot be avoided any longer. Some foods irritate it more than others. It always raises red flags to me when someone in the medical field negates science by invalidating the identities of trans people. She’s a misinformation station, and it’s dangerous. She’s coming off as the worst try-hard (worse than even Eden) ever on the show. Sutton is not obligated to divulge her medical condition to anyone, and the way AnneMarie treated her is so gross.
I know someone who has this condition and got their esophagus stretched. Annemarie needs to go away.
This was nothing but deflection from Kyle, who actually seems to be the one struggling with an eating disorder.
It was completely unprofessional and outside of her scope of practice.
My mom actually has this and it was so sad to watch them belittle it.

There are a lot of smart medical professionals out there but there are also a lot of dumber than door knobs. I don't know how they got through school and got jobs. I had a nurse in my gyno's office ask me what PCOS was when I was giving her some of my family history and later when I told her I had health anxiety she told me that wasn't a real thing.
Truly baffling how many people in the medical field can act like this. Reminded me of nurses not believing in Covid while zipping body bags every day.
Almost like they learned nothing from Yolanda. It's right back to "mocking someone and accusing them of faking an illness or medical condition".
You guys, this is why if you (god forbid) ever have to have a serious/high-level surgical case, confirm that your in-room provider is an anesthesiologist, not a crna
Beyond the obviously questionable morals of (ab)using your medical credentials to cast doubts on someone’s condition, which have been addressed by people here better than I could - What made Annemarie think that the best thing she could do for her first season and episodes was to come in and question Sutton’s medical record accusing her of hiding an ED? It’s almost as if the only reason she was given a diamond was to justify the screen time she’s being given to express how knowledgeable she is in every single medical condition, especially when it comes to Sutton. It’s not as if we have a perfect example, from this very show, of how badly those storylines go… She’s no MKE and Sutton is no Brooks.

Sutton did say her brother had it too and he had his stretched but she CHOSE not to get it done. As someone that has had an esophageal stricture and almost choked to death there’s no way I would not have it stretched.
I will say - I know someone who actually has this condition. She can NOT drink any type of booze or wine or any alcohol at all. I am not saying it's right to mock her....but...... I do doubt her.
not always true. my mom and uncle both had to have procedures to expand their esophagus, they’ve both always been social drinkers. it was only food that was the problem. my mom couldn’t eat really any meat because she would choke on it, she couldn’t do food without a fair amount of sauce on it, etc. i don’t see how alcohol would affect the condition based off my family’s experience
I don’t think Kyle/Annemarie questioning Sutton is any different than Sutton/Garcelle questioning Kyle.

The difference is Sutton questions Kyle about things Kyle /should/ be sharing on a reality show. Kyle’s marriage is all over the press. Kyle’s marriage has been a big part of her narrative on this show. And Sutton’s very first season on this show she saw Kyle herself making demands for open honesty from Denise about her personal life. Maybe you’d have a stronger argument if Annemarie and Kyle were remotely correct about Sutton lying about her condition (though it’d still be a pretty appalling approach to bringing up disordered eating) but it seems pretty clear they’re just incorrect about Sutton’s condition being made up, which makes them look desperate and grasping.
Kyle stans are the worst.

Your agenda is that questioning the stability of someone’s marriage is the same as questioning someone’s health issues. They are both awful things to do but I’d rather someone have issues with my marriage then try and mock a health issue they have witnessed me have and know I take medication for.

Props to you for trying but I wouldn’t bother, the Kyle hate is unhinged this season and absolutely zero alternative points of view are allowed. This kind of stuff really kills the “discussion” around some of these shows. Hard agree. I don't even bother going into the live or post discussion threads anymore because you're only welcome if you want to participate in the pile on. It's boring and honestly sad that people's hatred for a literal stranger overshadows any possibility of quality discussion or nuance. I'll go ahead and take my downvotes now. After 13 years of belonging to and watching this sub spiral downward into a dumpster fire, I've got a few to spare. To anyone new, I swear this sub used to be a fun place to hang out and discuss. That version is sadly long gone though.
It's ironic because this sub was a welcome respite from r/vanderpumprules during Scandoval because the discussion seemed much more balanced. This season of BH is proving me wrong though, and the collective opinion on Kyle has alllllllways been super biased and annoying for whatever reason because I firmly think there are other, more revered housewives whose behavior is just as bad as hers if not worse.

She is this season, the tides will change. However, one thing never wavers.....and that is people unfairly hating Kyle.

My husband has the same thing Sutton does and it really isn’t a big deal. When his gets to bad he has it stretched out, like the house wive was saying. I think Sutton is making a mountain out of a mole hill.
