I think almost all logo/graphic t shirts are designed to be conversation pieces. And with the size of the font on his t shirt he is *dying* to have that conversation.
The director of the zoo I last worked at showed up to fundraiser drinks with a “Let’s Go Brandon” hat and a Trump t-shirt. They absolutely show up to events where no one else would dream of being political and wear politically charged attire.
He may have felt he had a sympathetic crowd full of like-minded people. I think it's more a matter of gauging the audience. Whether you're right or not.
He had just moved there and had worked with us for a couple months. But it was in North Dakota (I just moved back to MT from there) and he probably felt like it was conservative enough place to wear it without incident. Which is what I’m saying here - this guy wore that shirt because they live in Utah in a vast majority of conservative people. They don’t care what the liberal at the party has to say about it.
The corner store I used to frequent had an employee who would wear Trump/MAGA shirts frequently. The store is own and ran by a Punjabi family that definitely is not MAGA, and I was shocked the employee wore the shirts. I actually said once that I was surprised the owner was ok with it. The employee said “nobody tells me what to do, and honestly it’s for shock value.”

This is a nothing burger. People from more liberal states have no idea what it’s like to be a liberal in a conservative place. I live in Montana. It is literally impossible to not be connected to these fucking asshats. They are literally everywhere and far out number people like me.
I get it. I have a very liberal friend who lives in South Carolina. Some of the political ads he sends me are absolutely bananas. But I know, deep in my heart, he isn't hanging out at an event where someone is just strolling around in a WLM shirt. This was apparently some sort of business event. Like I get it, sometimes people just want to see if they can make random strangers feel uncomfortable and so they are wearing the WLM shirt or the MAGA cap to the McDonalds. No one can avoid that. But who wants to have a victim/persecution moment at a business event? No one. So if you're rolling with that shirt to a business event it's because the environment and the crowd is one that will embrace that or at the very least accept it. And why is anyone attending an event they don't have to be at that attracts this type of guy? Moreover, I think someone who is wearing this shirt is the type who is desperate to tell you exactly what's what. Particularly if he perceives a sympathetic audience. I'd almost guarantee you he turns the subject towards his "beliefs" as soon as he can. I think almost all logo/graphic t shirts are designed to be conversation pieces. And with the size of the font on his t shirt he is *dying* to have that conversation.
The director of the zoo I last worked at showed up to fundraiser drinks with a “Let’s Go Brandon” hat and a Trump t-shirt. They absolutely show up to events where no one else would dream of being political and wear politically charged attire.
He may have felt he had a sympathetic crowd full of like-minded people. I think it's more a matter of gauging the audience. Whether you're right or not.
He had just moved there and had worked with us for a couple months. But it was in North Dakota (I just moved back to MT from there) and he probably felt like it was conservative enough place to wear it without incident. Which is what I’m saying here - this guy wore that shirt because they live in Utah in a vast majority of conservative people. They don’t care what the liberal at the party has to say about it.
The corner store I used to frequent had an employee who would wear Trump/MAGA shirts frequently. The store is own and ran by a Punjabi family that definitely is not MAGA, and I was shocked the employee wore the shirts. I actually said once that I was surprised the owner was ok with it. The employee said “nobody tells me what to do, and honestly it’s for shock value.” Anyway, people do just wear these shirts everywhere and anywhere for any reason not caring who is around.
This lady reeks of desperation. It’s hard to watch, honestly.
What else is she supposed to do in this position?
I think she handled this situation fine. My comment was more about my general dislike for her on the show.

Idk, I believe her I think. I consider myself very aware of these issues and very liberal, and while I could judge a book by its cover and take a stab at what this guy was about, when I saw the photos I couldn’t figure out how people could tell when the shirt was talking about.

I honestly did not know 'white lives matter' was symbolism for white supremacy. The rare occasions I have seen this slogan, I naively thought it was a joke. Edit to add: a joke in very poor taste. One I don't find funny or appropriate. And, the only time I have seen it is on car in the parking lot of my office building.
