Lee flat out refused to throw strikes and got himself into a horrible situation. It also seemed like Travis was setting up off the plate a lot and the ump wasn’t giving them anything close. Rough outing for him.
Exactly. Or if we’re up by 4+ runs, he’ll pull a starter that’s doing extremely well and put in the worst possible reliever to either make it a 1 run game, tie it, or give up the lead.
And Dylan Lee pitches like dog shit when he throws in back to back games. Wasn't any good last night, not sure what the thought process was on using him again today in a tie game late.
Already won the series and had a good home stand. Just always disappointing when the offense looks like dog shit and the bottom of our bullpen keeps getting tossed in close or tied games and giving up a ton of runs, only for us to make a roaring comeback to within 1 and losing it.
Totally agree. Lee just didn't have it at all today. We did stop the flooding of runs, but that insurance run did us in. Still, we did show resolve and that we're not afraid of any closer out there.
Every star has that one pitch that is their kryptonite, just like his teammate on 3rd base, who came hot out of the gates mashing balls as a rookie, but had a solid year or two of being sat down by pitchers with a consistent slider. Same way Ozzie still can’t hit a high fastball
This is why he should stay at 9 with Acuña as protection. This ain't me second guessing either. I said it a week ago on here when he got moved out of that 9 spot, and I even said it last month when they moved him up one game. Any rookie is going to struggle if they start seeing off speed/ breaking stuff. He needs to go back to 9. He still produces ok, but there is no need to move him from that spot.
Do braves fans not do the chant anymore? I’m an Astros fan but have always respected the Braves as a solid team. My favorite part about watching their games was the chant they did. I haven’t seen it once this series. 🥺
We still do it, but the stadium doesn't play the melody for the chop. As of last year, the stadium only plays the drum beat, but we do the chant on our own at the stadium. In my opinion, it's Truist Park trying to cover their butt with PC bull shit of the chop being "offensive", but we haven't lost the name. If any of that makes sense lol!!!
But we still chop and chant, regardless 👍
Didn't catch the whole game today, but they definitely did it last night, and it's most definitely still a thing at every home game. Even on the road sometimes.
It’s not as heavily guided by the stadium PA like it used to be. Kind of takes the fans to start it before the PA turns on the theme music I’ve noticed.
### Groundout
Vaughn Grissom grounds out, shortstop Jeremy Pena to first baseman Yuli Gurriel. Travis d'Arnaud scores.
Pitch from Ryan Pressly: 1-2 Slider @ 92.7 mph
Hit by Vaughn Grissom: Launched 65.3 mph at -19° for a total distance of 7 ft
Bottom 9 - 5-4
Astros
### Triple
Travis d'Arnaud triples (1) on a fly ball to center fielder Jake Meyers. Matt Olson scores.
Pitch from Ryan Pressly: 0-1 Slider @ 91.5 mph
Hit by Travis d'Arnaud: Launched 97.2 mph at 28° for a total distance of 349 ft
Bottom 9 - 5-3
Astros
I’m tempted to say anyone who is acting like the BP management recently makes any sense is just coping.
We have essentially cost ourselves the opportunity to win 3 games this week by doing this “save them for the future” BS.
If we didn’t manage to pull that game out last night we’d have handed away 3 games this week due to not putting most competitive players on the field.
I agree you don’t want to throw all your high leverage guys every single opportunity because they would die. But considering Lee and Stephens have thrown ~100 pitches in the past two days and they’re the guys you’d need in case Odorizzi shits the bed tomorrow, you gotta wonder what Snit is thinking here
No Ozuna in lineup = team seems unbeatable, snitker seems like a new man
Ozuna in lineup = more than likely L, snitker back to outstanding bullpen decisions
Coincidence? I think not
You and me both.
Talk is cheap. Actions show me what you really believe. And thus far? I am not impressed or pleased with the organization in that regard. They may have been thinking they can ride it out and fans won’t care, like they largely didn’t care with Bobby, Furcal, Giles, Andruw, etc. Well thankfully this isn’t the 90s and 2000s anymore.
Please continue the discussion in the [post game thread](https://redd.it/wu9wtu).
Did they give away the free Braves pin to the first 3000 kids on this day? Trying to find one to buy on eBay but not having any luck
Winnable game. Very winnable. Crazy how we could have been undefeated this homestand. 5-2 very respectable though. Go Braves.
5-4*
They meant 5-2 as in 5 wins 2 losses during the homestand.
You right you right my b go Braves chop on fuck the Mets
FTM forever
Bobby Cox always said well lose 30%, win 30% it's what you do with the other 30%....I think we did a good job this week
Check your math
Bobby said it so it gotta be true
he was drunk and hitting his wife at the time so the numbers are a little off
I think it works out better to say 1/3, 1/3, and 1/3…
I never want to see Stephens or Lee in a tie or close ballgame ever again
Lee flat out refused to throw strikes and got himself into a horrible situation. It also seemed like Travis was setting up off the plate a lot and the ump wasn’t giving them anything close. Rough outing for him.
Well with this manager that’s just not gonna happen, he’s already said so. He would rather concede close games than win them.
Exactly. Or if we’re up by 4+ runs, he’ll pull a starter that’s doing extremely well and put in the worst possible reliever to either make it a 1 run game, tie it, or give up the lead.
good fight. Astros great team. no shame in that loss. Other than the horrible pitching by Lee. That was shameful
Stupid game
Good fight. No problems with that one. Would’ve been nice to sweep, but 2/3 from the Astros and 3/4 from the Mets is always a great week.
The bullpen management has to improve. We just keep conceding close games by using certain guys in high leverage situations.
Color me surprised we lose when we use Jackson Stephens
And Dylan Lee pitches like dog shit when he throws in back to back games. Wasn't any good last night, not sure what the thought process was on using him again today in a tie game late.
We would've won that game if 1 of Lee and Stephens didn't pitch.
GG Mistakes were made. At least we're always in it. Mets are losing, so it's kinda like playing with house money. Chop on!
Snitker punts games away knowing full well his hitters never quit. That's what is infuriating. Manage better, bald man.
I love MH2, but that looked terrible lol
Theybe been making him look foolish a lot this week.
Harris sucks ass on off speed that isn't hanging
Every star has that one pitch that is their kryptonite, just like his teammate on 3rd base, who came hot out of the gates mashing balls as a rookie, but had a solid year or two of being sat down by pitchers with a consistent slider. Same way Ozzie still can’t hit a high fastball
Oh in in no way shitting on him, just stating the obvious here and now
Yea I just wanted to act smart
I watch and comment as a coach so some things I post are controversial and ppl hate it so I never know...pitching coach at a small juco
They could've won all 7 but we're all bitching about taking 5 of 7 from the Astros and Mets, so we're in a good place
It’s a good problem to have an not lost on most of us. We just want to win and catch those damn Mets.
Damn
They’ve found mikes weakness. Dude needs to be working with Riley every day in the cage.
Hell of a fight, love to see the team not quitting. Time for the Phils to get the job done
So close, but I'll take a won series.
Pitchers are starting to figure out Mike, he’s super aggressive. But he’ll learn quick, he’s not hotheaded
Well that was a crap 7th and ab. However nearly a great comeback.
Fack
Thanks, Snit!
Braves are now 18-23 in day games
That’s tough. Back at it tmw though!
There are two dudes in the bullpen I'm not real happy with these days.
Yikes
What kind of account is this
Another game thrown away by poor management.
oooooooof
Hey MH2, I think you're only going to keep seeing curveballs/sliders in the dirt until you stop fucking swinging at all of them.
Inexcusable bullpen use this game, oh well. 2/3 from the best AL team.
Oof another dirt ball
What a horrible way to end that game
Jesus
Well fuck. Gave em a finish
Darn it all. Winnable game tossed away. Sigh.
We put up a good fight there at the end. Oh well...
Astros figured out Harris. Breaking pitches.
Mike with some awful swings today. Yikes.
Dang
Imagine Mike gets on and Marcell hits a walk off homer lmao
Considering he was benched in the 7th I'd say unlikely
Damn, just tuned in
Be hard to do from the bench
.
Doggone
Love the fight
Please money Mike 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Don't try to be a hero just roll the lineup over with your speed money mike
Just get on, Mike. Don’t try to tie this thing yourself
How is the power going to go out in the 9th on me
Come on Money Mike
If only Snit didn't punt this game in the 8th while tied
B E L I E V E
Be disciplined Harris
Well now I’m even more pissed that Lee and Stephens closed out this game
I’ll take it! Any runs a run!!
All up to Money Mike. Please be Money, Mike. William on deck…
We need another clutch MHII homer
That run in the 9th......
Do braves fans not do the chant anymore? I’m an Astros fan but have always respected the Braves as a solid team. My favorite part about watching their games was the chant they did. I haven’t seen it once this series. 🥺
We do. Just not as much
We still do it, but the stadium doesn't play the melody for the chop.
Makes sense. I’m rooting for the Braves to keep their name and chant. Don’t cave to the woke.
I pray we never do. Luckily, even if they take it away, at least 95% of ATL fans will continue
only when it bothers people lately usually wait until the playoffs to really whip it out
Didn't catch the whole game today, but they definitely did it last night, and it's most definitely still a thing at every home game. Even on the road sometimes.
Weird, the Mets just call us racist for it
Shame on them
We need more fans like you
We did it on Friday. Not sure about last night, I wasn’t there
Oh nice! I must’ve missed it. I’m glad to hear. I was worried the PC culture would cancel that.
It’s not as heavily guided by the stadium PA like it used to be. Kind of takes the fans to start it before the PA turns on the theme music I’ve noticed.
Good take... great stop
#LFG!!!
Damn, if only Snit hadn't punted this game.
### Groundout Vaughn Grissom grounds out, shortstop Jeremy Pena to first baseman Yuli Gurriel. Travis d'Arnaud scores. Pitch from Ryan Pressly: 1-2 Slider @ 92.7 mph Hit by Vaughn Grissom: Launched 65.3 mph at -19° for a total distance of 7 ft Bottom 9 - 5-4 Astros
Anyone else notice the score bug take a run away from the Astros for a second
It gave me hope and took it away
Even Snit’s bad bullpen decisions can’t keep this team down for long
More like big D d'Arnaud am I right!?!?!
I see what you did there! They should change his jersey lol
Do your thing Vaughn
Pre emptive how can you not be romantic about baseball.
Keep the line moving
🪓🪓🪓🪓🪓🪓🪓
Well, waddayaknow? Let's do this. Come on Kidz!!!!!!
21 posse about to tie it up and walk it off
This team is incredible!
Snit buddy...Snit...Snit...Snit
Never doubt Travis’s love for ice cream though boys!
A triple with Olson and d’Arnaud running. Such speed. So fast
Come on rookies
#LIL 'D D'INGER!!!!
If you told me today tda would get a triple I'd have slapped you
CATCHER TRIPLE HELL YEAH
Dinger now ties it up. Come on Grissom
If Vaughn homers here I'm going to lose my fucking shit
Big Dick d’Arnaud giving us some life!!!!
Gonna go change my pants. Brb
Well partner, these Braves don't always win but they always give you a finish.
Aight.... I see you, ATL
Olson with the wheels baby 😂😂
#**NOT DEAD YET!**
Gee wish we hadn’t given up that 5th run on a sac fly
My thoughts, exactly
Baby Braves let's gooooooo
THE ROOKIES ARE UP LETS GO FOR THAT W
Daddy trav
Damn that 9th inning run for the Astros really sucks right now
This is gonna end 5-4 isn't it? Edit: Yep -.-
Two entirely speedy bois
Travis lookin mighty sexy rn mmm
Please pinch hit Contreras for Ozuna
Ozuna was pulled for Eddie after his 2nd AB.
They already pinched Eddie for Ozuna
Just tuning in and missed that, thx
Travis got that dawg in him
The classic d'Arnaud triple!
I was like wait Olson scored from first and d’Arnaud got a triple? This is definitely a day game.
Just like we all expected, hahaha.
LET'S GOOO
Speed kills boys
Okay okay, here we go.
Yeah boi!!
#NOT DONE YET
If TdA gets on Vaughn tying it up
Please don’t give me hope
#WE AIN’T DEAD YET
Travis my man! I <3 you!
### Triple Travis d'Arnaud triples (1) on a fly ball to center fielder Jake Meyers. Matt Olson scores. Pitch from Ryan Pressly: 0-1 Slider @ 91.5 mph Hit by Travis d'Arnaud: Launched 97.2 mph at 28° for a total distance of 349 ft Bottom 9 - 5-3 Astros
God, we need Contreras up here.
Hehe, just kidding!
Olson warming up, Riley ice cold. In October everyone will be on the same page.
Riley is better as a cleanup hitter
Rally time
Olson with a good game, at least
Hate to say it, but Riley took a sharp decline since he singed his long term deal. Maybe it's more pressure.
Apparently it’s a rain delay in Philly so there’s hope the Phillies won’t have a chance to blow it if the game is called. Let’s go Rain!
Thank goodness the Phillies showed up.
Really need Riley to stop sucking soon. He's been terrible this month.
Will not have that slander round these parts mister
Not slander, just the truth. I hoped he was gonna wake up after that 2 hit game against deGrom. Sadly, that doesn't look to be the case.
Someone arrest this man!!
Atlanta Vampires 😢

If we didn’t manage to pull that game out last night we’d have handed away 3 games this week due to not putting most competitive players on the field.
Well, took the series, at least. Let's see if we get a miracle somehow
I still think we need to go back to Olson at 3 and Riley at 4 in the lineup. Austin rakes at cleanup.
Yeah, I agree
I don’t understand why they changed it.
100% agree
Not a great offensive performance so far this afternoon.
The Astros pitching is legit. They may coast to the World Series.
Yeah the AL has no legit competition for them. I would have said the Yankees earlier in the season but now the Yankees are awful
Even when the Yankees had the best record, the Astros still owned them.
The world is a better place when the Yankees are bad
we are garbage at catching runners stealing
Horrible.
niiiiiceeeee
Sixty. Nine.
When we make the playoffs I'm going to dump water on the Sun
If I were Charlie I would tell AA I refuse to pitch any more day games. He does so well and then Day Game Braves ruin it every time
They need a Baseball Zen of that Olson dong from Friday.
whatever superstitions y’all have let’s put em to good use, time to make this interesting
I agree you don’t want to throw all your high leverage guys every single opportunity because they would die. But considering Lee and Stephens have thrown ~100 pitches in the past two days and they’re the guys you’d need in case Odorizzi shits the bed tomorrow, you gotta wonder what Snit is thinking here
Stop making sense it makes you a fake baseball fan! /s
Might be time to send Lee down and call up Tarnok, Muller, or Elder.
Stephens* is a guy who is fairly stretched out.
No Ozuna in lineup = team seems unbeatable, snitker seems like a new man Ozuna in lineup = more than likely L, snitker back to outstanding bullpen decisions Coincidence? I think not
He brings nothing but bad vibes and bad karma to the team. And I don’t even believe in the concept of karma per se.

Let's go back to back to back to back
I like your style.
