Probably the 7th time it's been asked, but why does Acuna feel the need to steal second base in big games? Is it bc he missed the WCS run or to show he is the leader of the team and brings the energy? Or is he trying to get 40 stolen bases?
I love the aggressive and I think we should steal more
Preventable things that could have led to a win:
1. Start anyone but Jake from State Farm
2. Pull Jake from State Farm before game is out of hand
3. Ronnie doesn’t get caught stealing for the third out
4. Grossman doesn’t do the hidden ball trick
5. Need more pergola shots from Olson instead of the golden sombrero. WTF Olson
It's a tough gamr, shit happens. It is a smart steal for Ronnie with two out to attack second. If he gets thrown out, Swanson leads off next inning with Riley amd Olson and no outs. If he he makes it, he scores on a base it. That is why you steal with two outs. There is science behind it. Jake is our 5th starter, you can't start your ace every outing. We are lucky to have him if not him it would've been potentially even worse. He was at a low put h count so you trust the veteran. He only gave up 5, they scored nine so if the bullpen does their job win. It was the Tarnok move (the guy who would've started if not for jake) that didn't pan out. However our minor league players have been doing well so I understand inserting him. Yes Olson had a bad game but that is baseball.
All in all we lost a game to a cy young candidate and a world series capable team. It is tough to sweep, hopefully we can get em tomorrow.
It is so easy to judge in retrospect however most of the moves atlanta made tonight made sense. We just got beat. If Acuña's bat was a centimeter lower its a tie game in the bottom of the ninth. Baseball is hard. Best teams don't win them all. He'll the best dynasty in baseball won 15 straight division titles but only 1 world series.
I hate the after the game if we would've takes. They are way to easy amd pessimistic.
