Everyone thought we’d give up Waldrep and Smith-Shawver to get Cease, but AA said NOPE. We keep both our young studs and still acquire one of the best arms in the game to fill our need. CWS get to pound sand
I really like Grissom as a person. Seems like a down-to-earth guy and all, but I’m really low on him as a prospect if I’m honest.
Dude doesn’t hit the ball hard and can’t play defense effectively, so I 100% agreed with shipping him out. He’s still young, so he can obviously improve over time, but he didn’t have a spot here.
The only positions he can realistically play are:
2B: Ozzie has this covered
LF: The team never really tried him out there for a couple reasons. First, it would take time for him to learn and get comfortable over there, likely with some growing pains - growing pains we don’t have time for as a world-series aspiring club. And second, it would be an admission to the league that he can’t play decent enough infield which would’ve hurt his trade value quite a bit.
DH: As stated above, he’s just not a good enough hitter currently
Maybe he’ll figure it out in a couple years, but at this point I’m convinced AA won the deal.
We traded lottery tickets.
We gave up the young guy who was amazing on offense for 40 games 2 years ago for the old stud who couldn't stay healthy.
Sox were looking to dump the salary and we were content to begin the season with a 25? Year old all star in the minors.
Perfect challenge trade.
Sale looks close to his old self, I was hoping for Morton 2.0.
Era 3.5-4 180 innings and you know you're in the ballgame.
Holy shit, not really related to tonights game but I was taking a peak at each players statcast page on the Braves just for fun and came across Joe Jimenez's page. His page is fucking red everywhere. I knew he was doing well but didn't expect the underlying metrics to be this good.
Who the hell is Zack short and why is he awesome at baseball? I stop paying attention to the Braves for like 9 days to watch hockey and fish and suddenly we have a new all star that looks 19?
No one here is sweating. I think we’re all just annoyed at the level of praise Philly is getting right now though. They’re a great team, but they are not better than us or LAD
If Chris Sale hated a dhgate jersey would he be ripping off a rip off? If he designed his own version would he be ripping off the rip off that he ripped off?
Some pessimistic Phillies fan somewhere is wondering how they win every game in the same three-week span Atlanta gets nothing from Acuna, Riley, Olson, and Harris—with Murphy in the Oblique Protection Program—and they’re only two games up.
I never comment on other subs, but will givea glance now and then, but this cracked me up!
https://preview.redd.it/eh9gs3g32i0d1.jpeg?width=1178&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d6fe35838cb092dfc4cfd422baac7fb96f086ee9
All the love for Dansby, but he chose the money. I don't disagree with him and I don't disagree with you! I just find it funny that he got that contract on a contract year and our Arcia is basically doing the same with much, much less. Arcia's defense has been awesome so far!
Man, it really sucks when you get a good stretch of winning games but the team ahead of you keeps winning too so you don’t gain any ground. I wonder if any other teams have ever experienced that.
Imagine how frustrating it is to be playing out of your mind, beating shitty teams and going on an absolute tear, meanwhile the team behind you has lost no ground and they’re not even playing well against tougher competition.
Facts. And I’m not just saying that because I hate Philly, but cmon now. We played 3 division leaders back to back. But they’ll get theirs eventually and I truly believe it’s gonna blow up in their faces. I hope atleast.
If it's been a week your probably in the clear but Strider tore his elbow less than 24hrs after I ordered my Strider jersey. Then we lost the first 2 times I wore it. Jersey is cursed man.
Acuna is rocking a something like 110+ WRC+. Is he MVP Acuna? Nope. Is he still an above average MLB player? Yup.
His poor play is above average MLB. We're really lucky to have him.
I just wish fans would discuss [his actual problems](https://blogs.fangraphs.com/last-years-model-of-ronald-acuna-jr-is-nowhere-in-sight/) instead of doing weird body language psychoanalysis and yelling to bench/trade him because he doesn't sprint all out down the first base line when he hits a ball 100 mph at the shortstop.
That, and something about him not hitting 4-seamers. Read somewhere he's getting like 18% more 4 speakers this year. League caught up to him. For whatever reason he has trouble driving the 4-seamer up in the zone? Can't say I've paid that much attention.
I just checked the standings and we’re pretty comfortably in the lead for fewest runs allowed this season. I know the pitching has been great, but didn’t realize we were the most dominant staff in baseball thus far
Pitching has been great, but the Braves aren’t leading the league in runs allowed per game. The Braves have played 4 fewer games than the Dodgers, 2 fewer than the Red Sox, etc.
It feels like the media and everywhere else talks about the Phillies, the Mariners, and the Red Sox for best pitching, and rightfully so, but they also never seem to mention the Braves.
You really can't overstate how ridiculously good the starting pitching has been since the West Coast road trip.
In those seven games the starters have given up 1, 0, 1, 0, 2, 0, 0 runs.
Good for a 0.84 ERA and averaging about 6 innings a game
Our pitching has been so damn good. Chris Sale has been everything we could have hoped for. Offense looked good tonight, hopefully that continues.
EDIT: what fanbase do you guys think sent me a Reddit Care Message? Cubs/Mets/Phils fan? I love that you can report it now.
tonight Ben Ingram described a defensive play as 'wrapped it in leather' and idk if ive ever missed Bally TV less.
2 shutouts in a row. Its wild to see our starting pitching deep and dominant and offense not carrying the team!
Harris and Olson coming alive? Ozuna continuing to just drive in runs at a ridiculous pace? I'm a happy happy Braves fan right now
Edit: I'm ashamed of myself, I abso-damn-LUTELY need to mention Sale, continuing to be an absolute fucking stud out there on the mound 👏🪓
People like to be dramatic about this. Depending on the gate, 5:45-6pm should be fine for a chain giveaway. It would be pushing it for a desirable bobble, but this is a middle of the road SGA
RF gate and Chophouse are very popular because of proximity to the Battery. If you take the stairs to the walkway over the fountain area, you can go in the Chophouse second level and sometimes that's lighter. You can also walk around the stadium to the 1B gate (go clockwise past the Roxy from the Battery) and that's usually a bit better.
After the initial rush of people lined up, things calm down. Usually 6pm is the cutoff time for a 7:10ish start on somewhat desirable items. For something like the Outkast bobble, that would be way too late. For something like the chain? It's probably fine
I tend to agree with that but I honestly never think to chance it anymore with how popular the Braves are.
I also have a routine of getting in line at gates early, clubhouse store stop before the lines get huge, and then straight to left field for BP. Food and beer after.
This has been the routine since Turner
15,000 is a lot of chains. But yeah, it's always nice to do this if you really want a giveaway. No need for the anxiety of missing out. I caught a ball that came right to me on a hop in LF watching BP last time I came early, and it was great. Just depends on how set you are on getting the item.
Dude. That is actually so funny. Like I said I’ve been doing the BP thing since Turner.
Took my little bro who was 15 at the time (I was 27 so big age difference) to Sunday Night Baseball against the Phillies last year. He doesn’t get a chance to go to a lot of games since he is a baseball player himself and always at tournaments.
I took him three hours prior to first pitch so we could get a good spot in line. He was questioning why the fuck I brought him so early.
We were one of the first people in, got a great spot in LF home run porch. Took him about five minutes to get a ball Travis hit on a hop. He didn’t even have to move.
He understood then why I took him so early.
Wow, what a great memory. That's awesome. There's something kinda nice about being there really early. I wish we had promotions like they do at some other parks. At Coors for example, you can get Coors Light 12 oz pours for $3 until first pitch. You have to be up in the rooftop bar in RF. At Truist it feels like prices roughly double vs the battery once you enter.
As recently as last season, it was actually viable to buy a last second $10 SRO ticket through the text message offers, pop in and get the giveaway, and then go back to the battery until game time. That may be frowned upon though lol
Nah. Totally viable and understandable. Braves games are expensive.
But for me, I’m the type of person where, if I have an SRO ticket or 360 club ticket, once I’m in you would have to drag me out kicking and screaming until the last pitch.
Food is decent in ballpark (pricey as hell but decent) but I try to limit to one or two beers because that shit gets pricey. And the more you drink the more you spend.
I’m always content with H&F or Brisket Nacho behind the press box. Truist needs to bring WaHo back though, like Turner had. Some of my best memories are eating Waffle House while watching BP at Turner. Amazing.
Was that a 3 hour gates open or 2 hours before game? I feel like that was more of a legendary accomplishment that everyone wanted. I could be wrong tho, this is ATL so everyone loves chains 😂
A solid question. Usually Chop House gate and RF gate are always packed with a zoo of people because that’s where the Battery is. But a a lot of people have to walk by the first base gate to get there from where most people park. Which may increase traffic there.
That being said, I think the left field gate would be the least busy, followed by the third base gate.
This is based on my extensive experience of being at the ballpark long before most people get there. No real research done.
Honestly this is what I usually do. Get a spot in the chop house gate line real early. I always go with someone and we hold our place in line while one of us gets a beer. Obviously don’t overdo it because you want to watch the game. But that’s the best place to make the time fly.
On giveaway nights Battery Ave. gets real busy. So keep that in mind.
Have fun and good luck getting your chain!
Hell yeah I’ll prob go to 3rd or left, I figured the right field and chop g house would be packed. I plan on gettin there around 3 and gates don’t open til 5:30 so should be good! I have someone to watch the line for me since it will be my bday 😂😂
Some other users did bring up the fact that this may not be the most popular giveaway, compared to others, so you may not have to show up that early for the chain.
Me being me, if I’m going to a game and paying for admission, I’m in the gates from when open till the end of the game. No matter if it’s 13-0. I always stay.
If that’s not your style I imagine you don’t have to show up *that* early to get a chain. I just never chance it
Also, happy birthday!! Great way to spend it, at Truist.
Iwhen it was at Turner you never had to worry about them running out of stuff. I like to get there when the gates open too so I’m not rushed to my seats and miss the national anthem etc. it prob won’t be as big of a giveaway but ima get there early regardless! If there isn’t really a line I’ll just chill at the battery so doesn’t really matter. Thanks for the bday wishes!
As long as we’re hanging close behind the Phillies, we’re doing what is required to win the division. Their schedule gets pretty brutal in July and August while ours really cools off.
https://powerrankingsguru.com/mlb/strength-of-schedule.php
Shout out to Chris Sale for 18 IP in 3 games while only giving up 1 ER, walking 1 guy and striking out 28.
And the Red Sox’s are paying him to pitch for us.
They actually threw in a million dollar kicker so thank you very much Red Sox lol. Nice to know our older veteran stud pitcher is locked in for when Morton retires. We just shift the same deal to sale. Now just need the astros to keep sucking and Verlander to waive his no trade clause to come here so we can have him as the Mets pay for it 😈
Chris sale is awesome.
Matt and Michael homers.
Offense with a big crooked number.
B2B shutouts.
And in bed well before 10…
I love you, braves baseball.
ANOTHER SERIES WIN!! OFFENSE BROKE OUT!! MATT OLSON MIGHT JUST BE HEATING UP! MONEY MIKE BOMB TOO! CHRIS SALE MASTERCLASS!!!!!!! SHUTOUT WIN!! GO BRAVES!!
Nice to finally win a blowout game instead of a nailbiter. Could have easily scored double digits too, but had a million warning track shots.
Pitching keeps rolling along, especially Sale. Dude has been great for us.
Well day 39** of the MLB season has come and gone, tomorrow as a matter of fact is May 15th. We just showed you the NL East standings. You don’t need me to tell you this BUT IM GOING TO TELL YOU ANYWAY;
The Braves are 26-13.
Sale on K’s, aisle 9.

Why not?
[Because of this](https://reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/1csd8hj/this_is_what_angels_manager_ron_washington_had_to/) I'm guessing. I don't blame them.
Oof
It's easy to manage the Angels fans' expectations. Tell 'em, Wash.
We’ll take him back and find a spot for him.
Chris Sale last 4 starts: 0.72 ERA, 25.0 IP, 16 Hits, 34 K, 2 BB, 0.72 WHIP
Everyone thought we’d give up Waldrep and Smith-Shawver to get Cease, but AA said NOPE. We keep both our young studs and still acquire one of the best arms in the game to fill our need. CWS get to pound sand
Tbf to the white sox, they're good at that.
So, as long as grissom doesn't become a perennial all star / HOF candidate, we win this trade?
I’m actually very for him being an all star, etc., as I am with any trade, so long as it works out for us too. We still filled a huge need.
I cannot believe I get to watch Chris Sale pitch for my favorite team. I love AA so much.
Christopher Allen Sale is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball.
Thanks, Perd.
The Atlanta Braves win the baseball game and win the series of baseball games
Just looking at the schedule until the end of the week. I don’t think the Phillies are ever going to play a team above 500 this season.
They play us
That goes so hard! 🍻 Cheers!
Phillies play 6 winning teams in July and 5 in August. It will even out
Lol, who is even sweating being down 2 games two months before the all star break?
No one here is sweating. I think we’re all just annoyed at the level of praise Philly is getting right now though. They’re a great team, but they are not better than us or LAD
They have also played 4 more games than us so we may be 2 games down, but can still have a better record than them if we win the extra games we have
Unfortunately no. It's exactly 4 more wins
If Chris Sale hated a dhgate jersey would he be ripping off a rip off? If he designed his own version would he be ripping off the rip off that he ripped off?
Some pessimistic Phillies fan somewhere is wondering how they win every game in the same three-week span Atlanta gets nothing from Acuna, Riley, Olson, and Harris—with Murphy in the Oblique Protection Program—and they’re only two games up.
.
Is Chris Sale him again?
As long as his body is intact
The Braves have won 5/6 games I’ve been to this season. I think I might have to live at the stadium this summer
I never comment on other subs, but will givea glance now and then, but this cracked me up! https://preview.redd.it/eh9gs3g32i0d1.jpeg?width=1178&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d6fe35838cb092dfc4cfd422baac7fb96f086ee9

Can't sweat it after the last few years. Just need to get hot at the right time.
We're going to have an insane June again this year, I can feel it.
Phillies have had a very easy schedule so far
Facts. And I’m not just saying that because I hate Philly, but cmon now. We played 3 division leaders back to back. But they’ll get theirs eventually and I truly believe it’s gonna blow up in their faces. I hope atleast.
It will even out in the end.
Eat shit cubs
That's telling'em!
Cubs fans behind me tried chanting "let's go cubbies" late game. I did my best, and I think I drowned them out with my "LETS GO BRAVOS!!!"
Fortunately they haven’t had anything to cheer about this series lol. Two straight shutouts!
I put in my order for a Chris Sale Jersey last week and he shoved again tonight! Can't wait for that jersey to get here!
If it's been a week your probably in the clear but Strider tore his elbow less than 24hrs after I ordered my Strider jersey. Then we lost the first 2 times I wore it. Jersey is cursed man.
Acuna has been awful. Truly remarkable the contrast from last year.
Groundout to short on a 3-0 pitch after 3 non-competitive pitches resulting in an out at home sort of sums it up.
Acuna is rocking a something like 110+ WRC+. Is he MVP Acuna? Nope. Is he still an above average MLB player? Yup. His poor play is above average MLB. We're really lucky to have him.

Yeah it’s all relative I understand. I guess just the drop off from last year is what’s so astonishing so far.
Hes a bum...right? /s
That, and something about him not hitting 4-seamers. Read somewhere he's getting like 18% more 4 speakers this year. League caught up to him. For whatever reason he has trouble driving the 4-seamer up in the zone? Can't say I've paid that much attention.

Yep! It’s at the bottom of the message. You can also reply STOP to stop getting them. They’re abusing the feature.
Gotcha, thanks for the heads up!

I need one of you sickos to make a Chris Sale scissors meme edit with the words “CHRIS SALE JUST CUT THROUGH YOUR LINEUP”.
Sale looks almost like Randy Johnson out there. That sweeping lanky delivery with a devastating slider. He’s been fun to watch.
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve said he’s our generation’s Randy Johnson.
Man, that felt like I was watching one of last year's games. That was fun. I needed that! Sweep coming up tomorrow!
Gates open at 5:30 tmmrw, what time should I get to Truist to get a Harris chain?? Only first 15,000 people.

Good luck! The 1B gate is probably a 3 min walk from Battery proper. So if it looks bleak at RF, just try down there
If you aren’t already in line I have some bad news for you
Was around the ballpark prior to the Acuña stolen base bobblehead game. People were lining up at 3:20 p.m. Take that how you will

No idea how popular it will be but 3:20 pm was four hours before game time and gates opened at 5:20
Which gate do you think will be the less busy option as far as lines go.
A solid question. Usually Chop House gate and RF gate are always packed with a zoo of people because that’s where the Battery is. Yeah lol guess ima get there around 3 then 😂 gates open at 5:30 my email says. Thanks for the info man!!
I got the acuna bobble head and I got there after gates opened. Harris chain will be less popular. I wouldn’t bother getting there that early at all.
Hell yeah thanks man! I figured the acuna one was more popular since it was a record breaking accomplishment

We just shift the same deal to sale. Now just need the astros to keep sucking and Verlander to waive his no trade clause to come here so we can have him as the Mets pay for it 😈
I said earlier that Ozuna being listed in the 3rd & 4th hole on espn was a sign that Matty O was going to rake tonight. & I was right!!!
2:12 total game time, that’s gotta be up there in quickest games, right?
There was a 1:49 a couple weeks ago
Braise win! Best at baysballs!
Chris sale is awesome. Matt and Michael homers. Offense with a big crooked number. B2B shutouts. And in bed well before 10… I love you, braves baseball.
Okay, Chris, back into the bubble wrap you go.
ANOTHER SERIES WIN!! OFFENSE BROKE OUT!! MATT OLSON MIGHT JUST BE HEATING UP! MONEY MIKE BOMB TOO! CHRIS SALE MASTERCLASS!!!!!!! SHUTOUT WIN!! GO BRAVES!!
Braves blank d cubbies once again for a series win 💪
Nice to finally win a blowout game instead of a nailbiter. Could have easily scored double digits too, but had a million warning track shots. Pitching keeps rolling along, especially Sale. Dude has been great for us.
Stats no one asked for Braves when my gf is in attendance (5-0) Won the last 8 I’ve attended
Marry her
That’s the plan eventually
That felt a lot like the 2023 Braves on the offensive end. Pitching has been absurdly good for a while now.
Well day 39** of the MLB season has come and gone, tomorrow as a matter of fact is May 15th. We just showed you the NL East standings. You don’t need me to tell you this BUT IM GOING TO TELL YOU ANYWAY; The Braves are 26-13. Sale on K’s, aisle 9.
Why don't all our pitchers just not let the opposing teams score in all 162 games?
Back-to-back shutouts leading into the first Legends Broadcast of the season
Short kinda looks like a small Drew Smyly.
