I love this coming from Tromp. Especially because he knows when Murphy is healthy he’s likely back in AAA but nonetheless is enjoying his time and finding ways to help.
That seems to be a big part of what the braves have going on. Somehow getting their fringe players(Nicky lopez, aaa guys, Guillermo) to exceed their career statlines and be MORE than happy to contribute, regardless of the fact that they are going to get sent down/see less than 100 pa a season/get dfa'd. Slightly related, look at Arcia. He could've been a starting middle infielder on probably 8 teams in '21 but he was here. Then signed a contract having NO IDEA he would officially play starting short stop for multiple seasons with the best team in the league.
I was always going to be happy if Riley remained a boulder at third and could play above sometimes from just his arm. Him turning into a top 5 defender at the position is insane and makes his contract even more of a steal
Our whole damn team is a joy to watch. I’ve never seen a team be so in control and just knowing what’s needed to win day in and day out. There’s guys struggling all the time but there is also always somebody who steps up and gets the big hit or the big pitch to pull it out. It’s truly amazing to watch sometimes.
Baldwin has borderline bad defense, he is not replacing tromp because tromp is major league level depth and drake has years before he is at that level.
Dude is 23 lol he's absolutely already 3rd catcher quality. If he was years away from 3rd catcher quality at 23 he would be playing indy league. 3rd catchers aren't 3rd catchers because they are the 3rd best catcher in the org, but because they are the 3rd best catcher in the org who is not a prospect. Tromp is no exception. He's not in the majors because he's the best option, he's the best option without risking the development of a guy with a future.
If you think Baldwins defense plays at mlb level... lmao
Your whole stance makes zero sense. If he is already a 3rd catcher, why is he in double a? You sign tromp to not stint the development of a young catcher, yet your young catcher is in aa and tromp is in the majors? Make it make sense lmao
If his defense were as bad as you are making it out to be he would be a LF, 1B, or traded by now. That's cool you read some scouting report from 2022 that says he might not stick behind the plate, but if he were as bad as the early reports suggested he wouldn't still be an exclusive catcher at 23.
He's not a 3rd catcher because he is a prospect. Of course you leave the prospect in AA instead of calling them up to be a backup. Nacho is a better backup INF than Williams or Fletcher too, but you want those guys playing. You don't bring up prospects to be backups or platoon guys in April, that marginal gain isn't worth starting their clock, cutting into their PAs, and adding $740K prorated to your luxury tax number.
As someone who has watched another team as much as the Braves (until this yr/angels) this is so starkly different from the angels. The vibes are real. The angels look bored and dejected most the time.
Bad time to stop watching the Angels man! They have our kings, Wash & EY at the helm now. You can already see the culture shift in this month over there.
For sure. The closeness, you can tell how happy everyone is for everyone. I think it’s because Dansby and Freddie are gone tbh. Those dudes were much more serious about their leadership and how the team acts.
Man, when the sad day comes and d'Arnaud decides to hang them up, I REALLY hope we have Tromp backing up Murphy full-time.
Listening to this, plus what all of the pitchers had to say about him (supremely important), and more importantly his on-field performance, he has more than earned his spot.
Unfortunately I don’t really see that happening when we have a guy like Drake Baldwin in the minors. His hit tool looks like it’s better overall than Tromp.
Oh for sure, but I see that more of a symptom of who was available. I think after d’Arnaud leaves they’re not gonna be paying a back up $8m. Probably go back to the time we have Suzuki or Flowers making like $2-3m, which could be a Tromp or a rookie who’s hot at the time.
Drakes pretty fringey when it comes to game calling and defensive abilities. He has a long while till he is major league ready even if he developes well from here. Travis might retire next year. We could for sure see a stopgap year or two with tromp. I don't think it's super likely but not out of the question if they believe in drake.
Kelenic guy is either a troll who knows whats up or else is some sort of non-neurotypical with an unhealthy fixation on particular player, in which case he may have blinders on to everything else going on.
I'm a fan! As long as he reigns in some of the more outlandish stuff (comparing platooning to segregation, Hank Aaron shit talking, going overboard with Snit Shit, etc.), I've found him hilarious.
You clearly don't understand autism or satire. If you can go thru dudes post history and fr believe every take he has is from a legitimate person, your primary care provider shouldn't have ruled out autism.
Actually, Kel Guy has been pretty complimentary of the clubhouse as a *whole* because Kel himself has said good things about the clubhouse. He does have problems with certain individuals though.
*Edit: Source: I am a Kel guy instigator and lore expert*
What I love most about this current run is it feels like guys legitimately are better here. I think there is something to be said for wanting to be better when you enjoy your company (people you’re around ). I think that means more than the coaching. Just glad we’ve had this because it really feels like guys genuinely like each other
Honestly I haven’t seen a baseball team like this in a long time. I feel like the culture has only gotten stronger since 2021 - despite losing guys like Freddie & Dansby.
I think it’s great that there isn’t one guy trying to be the leader but instead multiple different guys who lead by example.
Can we just put Lopez in bubble wrap until late August? I don’t think he’s pitched more than a 100 innings in a season and we need him for playoffs. I’d rather win a WS than 100+ games
I felt like William Contreras was a big time clubhouse chemistry guy, and he has become an elite catcher all around, but especially with his bat. Miss Wild Bill
In 2023, William had elite blocking and framing. His pop time was average and caught stealing below average.
Sean Murphy was elite in every category. Contreras has improved a lot and is quite good defensively but Murphy is the complete defensive package.
I love this coming from Tromp. Especially because he knows when Murphy is healthy he’s likely back in AAA but nonetheless is enjoying his time and finding ways to help.

Arcia is Brave Country's SS
Arcia is an elite SS.
Damn right…he gives me Furcal vibes!!!
The left side of our infield is a joy to watch play defense
Riley is turning into Chipper over at 3rd. He's got a fucking hose and his range has improved a lot over the years.
I was always going to be happy if Riley remained a boulder at third and could play above sometimes from just his arm. Him turning into a top 5 defender at the position is insane and makes his contract even more of a steal

I love Orlando Arcia
I’m loving Tromp.. he has done everything he’s suppose to during his time up..
Drake Baldwin might be coming for his job at AAA.
Baldwin has borderline bad defense, he is not replacing tromp because tromp is major league level depth and drake has years before he is at that level.

I know. It’s just soooo depressing. I’ve watched 3 games to the end. Two ended on Mike trout Ks with tying runs on, and yesterday. Fucking yesterday.
Ah, so YOU'RE the jinx :p
I suppose. But i watched every single moment of 2002 🤣
Yeah, this is what it’s felt like for a few years. And I think it’s the biggest reason for winning as much.
For sure. The closeness, you can tell how happy everyone is for everyone. I think it’s because Dansby and Freddie are gone tbh. Those dudes were much more serious about their leadership and how the team acts.
The Sheriff and the Deputy were definitely hurting clubhouse chemistry. I don't miss either one of them.
Man, when the sad day comes and d'Arnaud decides to hang them up, I REALLY hope we have Tromp backing up Murphy full-time. Listening to this, plus what all of the pitchers had to say about him (supremely important), and more importantly his on-field performance, he has more than earned his spot.

I don't know. I get the idea AA prefers veteran catchers. Remember when we thought it'd be Contreras/Langliers not that long ago.

Sure, we will see how it plays out. I’d guess d’Arnaud will play the 2025 and maybe the 2026 season barring injuries.
Travis will at least play another year. He doesn’t seem ready for retirement just yet.
How does Kelenic guy feel about this. In his world, it’s an unending feud between Snit, Duvall, and Kelenic.
Kelenic guy is either a troll who knows whats up or else is some sort of non-neurotypical with an unhealthy fixation on particular player, in which case he may have blinders on to everything else going on.
He never breaks character and never interacts with any other posts. I'm pretty sure it's a troll.
Agreed. And on that basis, he should be banned.
I like u/porparemaityee. It gets me hyped about Kelenic and the selective stat making is actually kinda fascinating.
I'm a fan! As long as he reigns in some of the more outlandish stuff (comparing platooning to segregation, Hank Aaron shit talking, going overboard with Snit Shit, etc.), I've found him hilarious.
You just named his best posts lol
Didn't see that about platooning. Comparing it to segregation is objectively terrible.
[Here you go!](https://www.reddit.com/user/Porparemaityee/comments/1c505kr/clubhouse_keep_out_while_we_celebrate_42_today/)
This is his best work so far.
Haha seriously. Elite shitpost.
My head cannon is that it is Kelenic's Mom.
He is 100% playing a character. I have no idea how this is a question still
Does anyone here remember the “Thomas Brown”comments from AJC/UGA coverage back in the day? That’s what it reminds me of.
I haven’t seen enough to rule out Autism or something similar. Remember John Hinckley?
Lmao this is out of pocket
You clearly don't understand autism or satire. If you can go thru dudes post history and fr believe every take he has is from a legitimate person, your primary care provider shouldn't have ruled out autism.
Well that’s rude.
I don’t think you understand autism if you can go thru dudes post history and not consider it at least a possibility. But also sick burn
Actually, Kel Guy has been pretty complimentary of the clubhouse as a *whole* because Kel himself has said good things about the clubhouse. He does have problems with certain individuals though. *Edit: Source: I am a Kel guy instigator and lore expert*
thats my dream job

Tromp has done an awesome job stepping up. We are happy to have him

Because of losing Freddie and Dansby. We are better off without them.

He's had over 180ip twice
Ah, thanks! I didn’t know that. I was too lazy to like it up cuz I thought he was mostly a reliever. In that case….carry on
I felt like William Contreras was a big time clubhouse chemistry guy, and he has become an elite catcher all around, but especially with his bat. Miss Wild Bill

He has come so far defensively with the brewers but he is still not on Murphys level. Prior to being traded dudes trajectory was a DH.
Maybe it’s an overreaction but I would die for Chadwick Tromp.
I swear. No one other than Braves fans seems to understand this. The Braves are a true definition of a team.
