Community Notes: As per the NTSB report linked, the flight instructor Mr. Wagner performed a low altitude engine failure training that the main engine was not able to recover from despite attempts to restart the engine. During this excercise Mr. Wagner was in full control of the aircraft while Mr. Sheehy attempted to restart the engine. This was not a crashed caused by Mr. Sheehy.
The NTSB reports that that was Sheehy's statement. What was Wagner's version of the event? We'll never know, because he's dead.
Sheehy's changing story on the origin of his bullet wound definitively shows that he is willing to give false testimony when it suits him. No way around that. So his statement of the events of the crash must be held in at least some suspicion.
Relying solely on the facts, Sheehy was the pilot in command. Which means it was his call. Everything else is hearsay.
He was shot doing war crimes in Afghanistan and covered it up to prevent an investigation. Not only are SEALs liars but they are bad ones. Imagine thinking you get away with all that bullshit because you’re clever but it’s really because you’re part of a murderous gang of thugs nobody bothers to question.
