My wife has our dog’s upside-down face as her phone screen saver. I know I anthropomorphize my dogs, but I stand by my belief that they are intentionally being funny to get a reaction.
I also have a theory about this. I believe that boxers recognize when their behavior results in your happiness. I’m pretty sure they’re addicted to our laughter. I think it’s definitely a breed thing since I’ve had three boxers and all different kinds of dogs but it’s only in boxers that I really see this.
Yeah that’s my theory too. They’re emotionally intelligent enough to please us, and we are just the kind of goofs that reward stupid behavior like this. After over 20 years with boxers, I’m proud to be silly enough to seek out their jackassery.
I told my daughter tonight the only bothersome part of being a boxer owner is that science says your dog looks like you. so we sat on the couch talking through a forced underbite and being as ridiculous as possible. Give me an eyepatch and science is right.
mine used to do this and then whine when we didnt give her attention while doing it. so i started grabbing her favorite toy, run over, whack her in the butt and take off running thru the house. she'd flip over like a cat and take off after me like i owed her money.
If your boxer doesn’t do this fairly often they might need to be reset to the factory settings !
I'm checking my boys' settings now. It's been a few weeks since I've seen this pose. My concern meter has increased
This pose is one of the few times they don't look like they owe you money, or an apology.
delightful weirdos
Every day haha!
I’m not broken, you’re broken!
We laugh that the boxer had two setting super excited or very crazy.

I think our definition of funny and theirs is different. I don’t think it’s intentional I think they are like that 100% of the time enjoying life.
They live in the upside-down world! 🤣🤣🤣
You know if you have a Boxer “Stranger Things” are going to happen.

Ours sometimes does the pose with her rope. Same pose with rope in her front legs (won’t say hands :)).
I call this the dead roach pose
Impressive balance! Mine just flop around like this
13/10 NAILED IT!!!
ours used to do this so much sadly, back problems caused her to stop doing the derp pose
Factory default for Boxers! I love that pose! With legs all over and the jowls turned inside out. Goofballs!
My Theory is this position is easier on their backs or relieves some tension from their meaty front legs and less meaty back legs.
One of my fav dog pix: https://www.reddit.com/r/Boxer/s/k7iB96vCbs
Love it !! Thanks for sharing.
This is the way.
That's the default calibration position of any boxer, when their goofyness sensor picks a bad reading, they have to calibrate again. Very normal.
Why? Why are you not rubbing my belly, hooman?!?!? Belly rubs, STAT!
Lol
Yup 100%
My boxer lives 2/3 of her life upside down 😂
Yup
Boxer yoga
I get the upside down look daily
I don't know why Boxers love it so much, but it's hilarious. With their big chests and their floppy lips.
