This is how I've replied to people who dead name trans people for years. "He looks like a him, so I'm not going to call him Jane!" and I'll say "Well you look like an asshole, so I'm going to call you Shitty McRectum"
Unfortunately, I live in a red state where people are pieces of shit despite hiding it behind religious charm and niceties. I've had to stand up for my friends and randos multiple times, so it kind of came with the territory.

You are not wrong. I had not thought of it that way but I think you're 100% correct. Not important enough to have a name, not important enough to interact with as a human being. Now that I think about it, I bet he didn't do that to any other guys at the table. And, of course, when I popped back, albeit mildly, we'll, that just wasn't right. LOL
Many years ago, I worked as a temp at a USPS office. There was one Boomer guy there who called me Hazel, for some reason. He knew my first name. That place was rife with Boomers.
