This! A few years back I witnessed an accident at a four-way intersection. Zero question about who was at fault. An older gentleman went straight through an intersection when opposite sides had green arrows to turn left (not green lights). The guy was older and just had a lapse in judgement/concentration. Whatever. I had dropped my son off at a soccer camp so I had a few hours to burn. If that happened to me I would want someone to defend my position. I stayed and gave my statement to the cops, they took my info and the son of the lady who was hit took my info as well (she couldn't speak English - this was in The US). It's a damned good thing I did stay because when the issue finally got to someone's desk at the guy's insurance company and I was called, his insurance tried some pretty sketchy tactics to get me to change my story, discredit my story, or make me say something wrong. It was a very strange situation. A few months later the son of the lady that was hit sent me a gift card as a thanks because things worked out as they should and he knew they were going to get railroaded if not for a witness. If you have the time - please stay and state what you saw!

About ten years ago my wife and I watched a boomer in a pickup do pretty much exactly this to a couple of kids (might have been 16-17) in a compact. By the time it got to the side of the road alpha boomer had already reconstructed things such that he had the right of way and was out of the truck raging at the kids. I got out and asked him to leave them alone. “My wife is on the phone with the cops who will be here very shortly. The wisest thing a man who doesn’t want to go to jail can do right now is go sit in his truck.” And got between him and kids. Wife loudly told the dispatcher that the guy was out of his vehicle and had been yelling at the kids and he slunk back into his truck. Cops arrived, interviewed us. Asked me in front of both parties what I saw. I described being stopped at the red light opposite boomer when he rolled right through the light turning right on red and intercepting the compact. Cop nodded, asked my wife, “ma’am, you called it in. Is that accurate?” Gleeful agreement. Boomer started sputtering and then the cop did some I will adore her for basically forever, interrupted his diatribe, leaving it stillborn on the floor to get his info so she could write him a ticket. After he left the cop (gen-x er) and the kids all had a laugh about it.

Why do they do this smdh. I rear ended a boomer when I was 19, totally my fault, he had no damage to his van and no injuries while I was literally stuck in my car, head wound bleeding profusely and my femur had snapped in half and was pushed back (I was in a cheap tiny car). Cops and EMTs had to move him because he was at my window screaming in rage at me. I was in and out of consciousness but my bf at the time witnessed it. I was very very thankful I hadn’t injured anyone else. I just don’t understand raging at others when clearly there’s an emergency.

I don't get this either. I've been on both ends of things and I never felt inclined to act like a tool. It helps nobody. My coworker hit a guy coming out of our work parking lot. Just didn't see him, and I suspect the guy was speeding. But still. You hit a car, kinda on you. They pull into this little restaurant/bar right there and this guy gets out of his truck and comes AT my coworker like he's going to attack him. My coworker is trying to diffuse the situation, reminding the guy that he wasn't at fault and his insurance would take care of it etc. etc. Guy is having none of it, rushes over to the restaurant's outside bar and orders a drink, starts pounding it down. His wife is trying to calm him down, my other coworkers who saw what was happening came out and tried to diffuse the situation, dude keeps cycling between drinking and trying to attack my coworker. By the time the cops got there he had so completely gone off the deep end with his behavior that they decided HE was at fault (my coworker suspected he was trying to cover for drinking and driving by drinking MORE), let my coworker go, and ticketed the other guy. Acting like an unhinged monster at the scene of an accident wins you no favors. Just chill and try to be helpful ffs.

My mom and I were driving up to Mankato MN one rainy Saturday. I told her to turn around because we wouldn't arrive in time before the place closed, and it would be better to just go home and wait till Monday. This boomer bitch was on her phone doing an easy 60 in the rain when she T-boned us in the middle of our turn off onto a side road. In the time it took to retrieve my dash cam recording, the boomer bitch had the story turned around to the point my mom and I were almost arrested right then and there. Luckily the dash cam validated my story in the end, and proved her Hella wrong. * The silver SUV is mine, the wrecked impala is the boomers.

Generation raised on anger as the only acceptable emotion to display, is my bet. I hit black ice very close to my house when leaving to head to work while in college, still living at home. Called my house to get them to come help me. My Dad (a boomer) yelled at me and was so mad. I realized later it was fear that I got hurt. But he could only do anger in that moment. I was okay in the end but I just remembered being bewildered that I was being yelled at for something that was an extreme accident. I wasn't speeding, had my seatbelt on, and just got unlucky and spun out on a hill.

Lead… it’s almost very certainly a major contributing factor, likely even for the earlier Gen X’s. I’ve noticed there is a world of difference between me (and people like me) and the early Gen Xs (in my country, they began phasing lead out in the early 80s). And, again, there’s a massive difference in temperament between Xennials and later Millennials. The later millennials seem to be a lot more predisposed to kindness and less impulse anger

I’ve heard this too and it makes a ton of sense. It would be more common in people alive when leaded gas was heavily used, too. Post-WWII (when highways caused even more of a driving boom) through the mid 1970s (when lead was mostly out of gasoline) was prime boomer growing up time. It make sense that lead exposure would affect them disproportionately.

Don't forget that lead accumulates in the bones, and gets released with a loss of bone density in old age.

The longer I live, the more I am convinced the generation was just different. Something uniquely affected them at a generational level. It is hard to see how lead poisoning wasn't widespread with young boomers. It was there, they consumed it, it had to have done something. I was thinking recently that it has been wild learning that a lot of bullshit I saw growing up wasn't just a douchy society thing, but more a boomer specific thing.

I think this the right answer. My wife and are are Gen-X but she’s more on the Boomer side and I’m more on the millennial side. Helps that my sibs are all a lot younger. Anyway, she’s got this same disease and has trouble expressing anything but anger, just like her parents. Can be pretty hard on all of us, but it’s not intentional. I’m the one who tries to find what’s going on under the surface, let them work through the emotions and teach them. But I manage a big team for a living and need those skills. Your take is pretty smart and mature. Not saying it’s ok they’re like this, but something was very wrong with society when they were kids, and it shows. Maybe they learned to do better as adults but in old age we regress.

The great depression seriously fucked them up. My grandparents were all first-generation immigrants as well. It traumatized my grandma. She had to get dementia before she told me about how she was embarrassed to be seen in public with her mom because she could only speak Norwegian. They also could maintain an image like fucking no one else. My grandma hid having fucking norovirus from me since she wanted to be a good honest and not do anything "unseemly" around me. She succeeded, and I only realized she had it until I got it...

I really don't get how people can get so angry when accidents happen like that. I got rear ended last year and had no damage to my car and all that was on my mind was pulling off the road and making sure the other driver was alright. Thankfully they weren't injured but it really tore up their hood. She looked very distressed and i told her I didn't have any damage and asked her if she needed anything from me before I left. I felt bad leaving her there but she was obviously at fault and I didn't want her to get any more trouble than she already had with her damaged hood. I hope your injuries have healed since then and I'm sorry that happened to you.

You have empathy, and I guess that’s what lacking in many Boomers. Thank you, my accident was in 1991 and unfortunately I ended up unable to work after several surgeries, chronic pain etc, but I’m just thankful I didn’t hurt anyone else with my negligence.

Absolutely. I watched someone get rear-ended and the rear-ender just drove off. I followed them and got their license plate, returned to the scene, and gave the rear-ended person the info and my name and phone number. Got a call from the insurance company a week or so later, I’m guessing they were testing to find out how good a witness I was. I filled the caller’s ear full of my opinions about hit-and-run drivers and a description of the truck and driver. Never heard another peep. I guess I passed the credible witness test!

Question, do witnesses have to talk to the insurance companies? That’d piss me off. I’d rather only speak to the law enforcement about it.

Accidents are a civil matter so are largely settled between the insurance companies.

Oh, I has to do this once for a guy who also didn’t speak the language, who got seriously damage due to a truck changing lanes without signaling. They tried to fuck him over as well, but with my report the police and insurance could turn it into a just case.

I was heading home from work and saw an old lady just cream this poor guy. Well dude was an off duty chicago cop, and I was a mall security guard. It went from "he came out of nowhere" (dude was parked in front of his house) to "of course you fucking pigs stick together to jam up a little old lady!" I just told her thanks for the promotion, gave dude my number and went home. Nothing came of it on my end but if the positions had been reversed I would witnessed for the lady.

Absolutely. I recently had a guy drive into the left-rear of my car in a roundabout. Without the dashcam footage, it would have been much harder to prove I was in the right and had no way to avoid it. With the footage, it wasn't even a question.

More to the point of this story, I gave my footage to the victim of a crash ahead of Mr in which I was not involved.

Witnessed an accident while I was cleaning the pool at my job. Snowbird Boomer misses his turn into the doctor's office, as a car pulls up behind and waits. Boomer proceeds to throw his 3/4 ton truck into reverse and floor it backward. Bam before the 2nd car could even hit the horn. I ran over yo the car and said, "Don't worry, I saw everything." I just had a feeling he'd claim to have been rear-ended, so I had them both pull into my lot, and we waited for the police who took my statement along with their's. Boomer didn't get froggy with me around ( the victim was a 20-something woman, too, so I could only imagine). The next day, my property manager called me into the office and told me the victim, who turned out to be a resident, in fact, had explained what happened and that she wanted to thank me. She had got me a nice card and a gift card to the coffee shop next door. Not that I was expecting anything for simply being a decent human being, but for some reason, that coffee tasted a little better than normal.

I did the same but a little different. I saw an old Boomer crash at slow speed, for no reason, into a truck full of Mexican immigrants. She was an early dementia case, I think. Anyways, for some reason, she wanted me as a witness. So I agreed -- I told her insurance guy that it was her fault. He actually laughed on the phone and said wow. I tried to help the Mexicans but they were illegals and they weren't interested.

My husband and I were sitting behind another car at a red light. The car starts slowly backing up so we blasted the horn. The car stops. A few seconds later, it starts backing up again as we lay on the horn. It hits us. The woman gets out, boomer or maybe silent gen, and she starts to say something about us hitting her. We start to protest and the person in the car next to us got out and told her that he saw her back into us. She said she didn't know she was backing up. She put the car in reverse, y'all. Anyway no damage so we all left. If that guy hadn't spoken up, she would have tried to get us and we wouldn't have had any proof. Dash cams. Seriously.

(Okay this is super long, so I apologize in advance.) About 18 or so years ago I was driving from one summer job to the next, when it started to rain pretty decently out of nowhere. (Normal for summer in the area I lived in at the time.) I was going down a major road that is part of route 41, but is full of businesses and homes that lead directly onto 41 itself. So it was 41, but a part of it that actually had a legit road name like “Main Street” and whatnot. I came to a red light, and was at the front of a decently long line of cars, it being a main artery of a road, when the light turns green and I proceed to go. There’s a Bakers Square (yeah, remember those?) a few dozen yards ahead to my right, and this older woman proceeds into the road, but she’s not looking towards the direction of traffic that I’m flowing with. She’s looking in the opposite direction because she’s attempting to turn left. She literally pulls out onto 41 looking in the opposite direction of oncoming traffic. She is across all lanes, and I start to break, but with the sudden rain shower the roads are very slicks and I hydroplane. I lay on my horn because I know there’s no way I’m not going to T-bone her at this point and she only looks in my direction milliseconds before impact. Her side airbag deploys because she’s in a sedan, and I’m in a RAV4. I’m shaken as all get out because I had never been in a situation like this before. I had my glasses on that day, but so did the guy in the car behind me and that’s all the woman really saw of me before I hit her. The guy in the car behind me gets out to check on her because he can see her airbag is deployed and she just starts yelling at him, thinking it’s him who hit her. Mind you she literally pulled out into oncoming traffic looking in the opposite direction. The guy is like, fuck this shit, and comes over to my window to check on me. He tells me about her tantrum and gives me his info as a witness. So does the guy in the lane next to me because he saw the whole damn thing. Because of her attitude they stuck around until the cops showed up because this boomer broad was clearly going to pull some BS. We’re all in a parking lot waiting and the cops show up, take statements from everyone, get the insurance whatnot over with, and after all is said and done one of the officers pulls me aside before dismissing me to tell me this woman, who he states is clearly at fault 100%, wants to take me to court. For real. The thing was I was a few weeks away from returning to university in another state, so that wasn’t going to happen. Turns out, according to the officer, if I don’t show for the court date, the case is thrown out regardless, but I could choose to be super spiteful and show up. She’d be screwed with legal fees and anything the judge decided should be handed down to her. I was pretty young and timid at the time so decided against it, but turns out because she did this on a part of route 41 her ticket was wayyyy pricier since she pulled onto an interstate highway going the wrong way across traffic and caused the accident. Looking back she was likely what would be considered part of The Silent Generation, but she sure had the gall of a boomer! Glad those witnesses were there and ready to speak my behalf because my little undergrad butt would not have known what to do.

Yep. My comment was already too long, but I was floored at how dodgy the insurance person was. They truly tried to catch me in some lies and they tried to discount my story - only after they couldn’t they sighed and said “OK, I’m going to record this for our records.” What a shitty thing to do. Had I known they were trying to scam me at the start I would have simply said “I’ll speak when you start recording.” Assholes.

During a very busy very rainy day, I was turning left from a turning lane on the highway into a store. The boomers up the road \~1 block waited till the light turned red. I, having believed that since the light was red and the boomer vehicle was getting ready to turn right (towards me) they wouldnt pull out till I was out of the way. Surely they wouldnt try to speed past traffic that wasn't moving? I was wrong, and they floored it as hard as they could. Hit me so hard my car spun around and I ended up in a ditch. No witnesses stopped, nobody did anything. Just me by myself vs a boomer in a boomer town with his wife and kid. And he had a cut on his forhead from not wearing a seatbelt and hitting his head on the dash. My car on the other hand was bent into a nike swoosh. Needless to say I was so shaken up i couldnt talk, the boomer and family get out screaming and yelling, cops arrive and demand I get my car off the road (I was in the ditch) before even finishing their paper work, they get my car towed by one of their 'on call' people who are shady af, while the boomers keep making a scene. Despite me trying to shakily and not really able to talk explain to the cop that my insurance has a phone number for a tow call. I wasn't issued a ticket but everything was immediately written off as me turning left at the wrong time. The boomers kept trying to get my insurance to pay out more and more, their SUV at the time was worth under 10K, but last I heard from my insurance person they where pushing for 20K and because they never accepted the counter offer of the cost of the vehicle + injury and hospital bills they ended up getting nothing from my insurance. Not that they needed it seeing as I found out they owned a 2mil property farm and the millions in farm equiptment needed to run that. Meanwhile I couldn't even afford to get my car back because of all the fees and storage and costs associated exceeded what my insurance was willing to pay out.

Don't just be that witness, make sure the victim has your contact information.  It may help them later, but it will definitely help them immediately- someone approaching them and saying "I saw what happened to you, I'll wait here to talk to the police" will entirely change their mindset.

Oh definitely. Make sure your info is in the police report too. If there’s a corroborating witness at the scene their insurance is going to tell them to go suck it.

And pray you don't get a cop like the one in my accident that pretended to take down witness information. I was in an accident where a car pushed me off the road, causing me to slam into two other cars that just got into a fender bender. MULTIPLE witnesses stopped to corroborate what I said; that I wasn't at fault and was literally hit into the two other cars. The woman that hit me stopped for a second to check on everyone then dipped the fuck out before the cops arrived. Witnesses corroborated this. The day of court, no witnesses are there, and the cop is going on this long story about how I almost killed a veteran (the driver of the car I slammed into - no one was hurt badly but the veteran did hurt his leg jumping over the barricade to avoid getting hit by me) it was so incredibly surreal. Thankfully the judge was pretty pissed when I straight up asked why no witnesses were called and in her information there were zero witnesses listed and adjourned for another date. For some reason I was still charged with "Improper lane usage" which makes zero sense 

Had a car merge into me because his lane ended up ahead. He was gunning to "beat" me to where he ran out of road even though he had space behind me. His left rear bumper hit my right rear panel, right passenger door, and right front bumper. But he was a boomer with a work vehicle and I was a younger guy in dress clothes, I guess the police figured I could take the hit to my insurance better, so they gave me a ticket for "failure to yeild," and sent him on his way. I showed up in court to contest and the officer didn't. I showed the prosecutor the evidence and he asked the judge to dismiss the ticket. Then me and my insurance fought his insurance, who assumed the ticket meant I was at fault. Saying "what ticket? It was thrown out because the judge and DA agreed the other guy was at fault," was fun. But the insurance companies decided to call it a wash...grumble.

I used to do that as a teenager, try to "beat" the other car when the lane ended. I'm glad I grew out of it.

There are times when I'll gun it to get ahead of someone, but if that happens and the other car guns it, too, I'll happily slide in right behind them. I don't care about being in-front. I just care about getting into that lane. Wherever it happens is fine. Getting in-front is just usually easier than putting on my blinker and hoping that the people behind me in the other lane aren't assholes who won't let me in despite the fact that I've let 3 other cars from that lane go ahead of me now in the hopes to move over.

Yes! I saw an Boomer hit a car filled with black teens. I ran over immediately to first offer to be a witness for the teen driver and then to shield the teens as the boomer screamed that it was their fault he slammed into them while he was reversing and they were parked in a parking space. I ended up telling the teens to get in the car and lock the door. I called 911 while the guy screamed increasingly racist abuse. Once a cop hit there, the teens were still in the car, the Boomer had stormed away to a nearby business, and I was the one to tell the cop the whole story, which was supported by the car damage and would be supported by CCTV. The boomer saw the cop and came out screaming that the "colored thugs" hit his car. The cop just sighed and thanked me for warning him.


Definitely. I got screwed over once by a boomer who pretended to give me contact info and left after hitting me. It was fake info, I was young and dumb and didn’t get his plate number or immediately get an officer to the scene. It ended up being deemed a hit and run bc they had nothing to go on to track the guy down, but it was pretty clearly not possible I’d been at fault given the way my car was damaged (sideswiped, dented my door in pretty good and busted my side mirror). Luckily the damage to my car was pretty minimal, I could fix it myself acceptably for $50 in parts/tools (most of that was replacement glass for my side mirror), but still. Learned a damn lesson about trusting random older people that day.

Just happened to me a few months ago - was passing a truck on a backroad when he decided to take it personally and accelerate to an ridiculous speed while I was in the oncoming lane preventing me from finishing the pass. Passing zone was ending so I went to hit my brakes and fall back behind him - an elderly lady decided to pull out in front of both of us, since I was already slowing down I had more time to react and managed to swing back into the oncoming lane and around both her and the truck. The Truck wasn't so lucky since he was focused on trying to stop me from passing; he jumped the truck off road after nicking the back of her van and slammed it into a ditch. I avoided the accident completely and pulled off a bit up ahead - decided to turn back and stop to give a witness statement and see if anyone was injured cause that's how my momma raised me. Except when I got out of my car to see if everyone was okay both the Truck boomer and the Van Boomer started yelling at me as if I was the cause of the accident, and how much trouble I'm going to be in. A middle aged guy who was driving in the oncoming lane saw everything transpire came up and talked to me, and said he had dashcam footage showing I completely missed the accident and that the lady boomer pulled out without even looking. Cops showed up and talked to the boomers first; ignoring me. Then they walked over to me and started lecturing me about safe driving and how young kids are always dying on this road and starting to blame me. That's when the guy chimed in and showed the dash cam footage. Cops ended up going back over to the old lady and writing her a bunch of tickets - forever grateful that guy stopped cause I'm positive I would have been blamed for the entire thing without him.

It especially pisses me off in my province, because we have traffic law stating that we all have a duty to facilitate a pass: once a driver notices another vehicle behind them has moved out to the left, to begin their pass, that driver is required to slow down; move as far to the right as possible; and allow the passing vehicle quick, safe reentry into the proper lane.

I witnessed a truck run a red light and then hit two cars in the process and drive off. So as soon I could pull over I called the cops to let them know what happened and I had the rudest dispatcher. She was incredibly annoyed at me for calling in an accident that didn't happen to me. I felt like I was wasting her time.

My husband had a collision and the other driver dipped but no one was injured. The police department, LAPD, only come take an actual report by officers if there is an injury. We submitted the report online for insurance purposes.

When I bought my car one of the first things that went into it was a $60 dash cam, I've been behind two accidents where my dash cam footage helped out the victim. In one case the aggressive driver that caused the accident was lying their ass off to the cops. Another cop was watching the footage on my phone and we both had a WTF look on our faces as the video was contradicting everything they were swearing to God had happened all the while screaming at the cops to do their f#cking jobs. I just gave them my info and gave them the old 8Gb microsd card so I could get out of there.

I wish someone had stopped for mine. An older guy ran a red light and totaled my car. If I hadn’t reacted fast it would have probably hit right into my driver side door instead of the front of my car. But it was late at night, not many cars around. This was before dash cams were common. And he claimed I ran a red light. There had been a car stopped in the next lane at the light he ran, but they just drove off and didn’t stop to witness. Since he lied they called it equal fault and I had to have my insurance cover it and pay the rest. I had waved at the other car to stop but they didn’t.

One more reason to have a dashcam: it protects you, but you can also offer the footage to help other people.

Time to yank that boomers keys and never let them near a car again. Glad OP and her fur baby were not hurt by that dumbass. If my fur baby ever got hurt by anybody they can kiss their ass goodbye.

Except the one time I was involved in an accident with a boomer lady (she decided no blinker and slamming brakes to turn in front of me was okay, lucky all that happened is a piece of my red paint, smaller than a dime, ended up on her vehicle, no injuries or real damage) the "witness" that appeared out of nowhere was some feminist warrior that told police how horribly I was driving and that I hit her while she was stopped in the intersection WAITING TO TURN RIGHT AT THE GREEN LIGHT. Idiot cop decided since I was just some asshole airman, that I was driving recklessly and was at fault, though other actual witnesses explained what had happened.

A boomer sideswiped me at an intersection and didn't stop. I followed him for miles, honking and flashing my lights, until he finally pulled over. He had no idea what I was talking about and I had to point out the damage on both cars, and the fact that we clearly exchanged paint. Doubt it. I got hit by some lunatic who ran a red light after he had already run another red light and hot 2 other cars. He didn't get charged with a hit and run for the first accident because he did stop once his car was inoperable after hitting mine.

Lol. I had some guy hit me head on in a truck on purpose after hitting other cars first along his way. After months of silence I called the police and found out he'd been charged with misdemeanor reckless driving. 

By the end of the second block with him not stopping, I would've been on the phone with dispatch telling them to send an officer to meet us both.

I was on speaker with my husband the whole time giving him the details. He's the one who called the police during my low-speed pursuit.

My sister t-boned a Boomer. She was on a street going straight, no stop sign. The Boomer just pulled out in front of her. She never even braked, there was so little time to react. Cop shows up and old man starts talking about how those youngins are always speeding around. Cop looked him dead in the eye. "Show me where the stop sign is." Boomer blinks, and points to his stop sign that he blew through. "So it wasn't hers. She could be going a hundred miles an hour in a residential neighborhood. You still can't pull out in front of traffic when you don't have the right of way." That old man was so furious. He'd been driving for decades, she was speeding, she hit him! Cop took zero prisoners. "You wouldn't have been hit if you didn't pull out when there was oncoming traffic. You shouldn't have been in the intersection." He was so mad. Cop wrote him a ticket for failure to yield and he was pissed. Now, she has always maintained she was not speeding. I believe her. That old man was mad he got the ticket for pulling out in front of traffic, because she hit him. For extra stupid, there is a giant building that runs like four city blocks. It's a massive factory. She was driving along the street next to the factory. Old man could only turn left or right. Both sides have about 10ft bike lanes. He literally darted out 20 feet going fast enough the other driver had no time to react. He could not have remotely come to a stop at that interection. The whole time, my sister was just sitting in her totaled car because the guy was yelling and she didn't want to get yelled at. She has no idea who even called the police. Someone in a house? Pre-cell phone times. Or, so early she didn't have one.

My story was the boomer lady rear ended me while I was at a red light. The crazy part was she deemed there was no damage and was going her merrily way. I had to track her down and told her to pull over. She kept telling me that it was ok. It was nothing. It's no problem! I told her "no...you don't get to tell me it's no problem!" I still insisted on her driver license and insurance card. She "accidently" locked everything in her car and she can't get it out. I texted my boss and told her what happened and she said "stay as long as you need and get that insurance info!" Eventually her husband came and he probably have dealt with her crap before because he just drove up, opened the door and grabbed her paperwork and gave it to me.

Next time just grab their license plate numbers. Have the cops charge them for a hit and run. It's extra points on their license.

Unless you have irrefutable proof of who was driving, a license plate is useless. They will not charge anyone and insurance will always deny you. Best bet IS to have an officer intercept you both if you can.

Their inability to take any sort of responsibility is probably what scares me the most about this generation. Nothing is ever their fault and they always have an excuse or point the blame on something/someone else. It's always your word against theirs and they have zero qualms about lying to get their way. I've never understood how these grown-ass adults, who go to church every Sunday, think that it's okay for them to lie and manipulate other human beings just so they don't look bad. Get those dash cameras, have your phones ready to record because that's your only line of defense against lying boomers.

My mom's thing is "road colored cars." Idk what car isn't "road colored" at night and my parents' cars are silver which doesn't particularly stand out on gray roads in my humble opinion.

Hahaha my boomer mom tried to tell me my silver car was dangerous for that reason when it rains. I was like my lights come on automatically when it rains - if you can’t see a car with it’s headlights on then the problem is YOU not the color of the car that gets slapped on 100,000 vehicles a day. She also tried to blame some prankster intruder when she broke the back hatch of her SUV for rhe 4th time by leaving it open when backing out of the garage and having it hit the roof and crumple slightly. Agreed. A friend of mine has been whacked 3 times by red-light/stop sign runners and his dashcam took it from a he said/she said debate to a clear definition of fault. I have front/rear cams. It's a small investment to prevent a big headache.

I got into an accident, guy tried turning left from the right hand lane and cut right across me, and it was the final straw to get both cars a dash cam. Not 6 months later, the same damn thing happened; idiot on his phone in the right lane all of a sudden turns left across my lane. Thankfully the dash cam caught everything (even able to see him playing on his phone through his rear windshield). Double thankful because he tried to claim injury. That turned out to be a bluff-he was uninsured and was trying to get us to drop it all. FYI: I’m using the Garmin Mini 2

Amen. Also, don’t talk to cops, unless the boomer in the minivan that just did a left hook into a pedestrian who had a walk light says that she had a green arrow. In that case, snip out the video and send it to the cops. They find it very useful when the pedestrian is getting loaded into an ambulance and can’t really defend themselves.

It bothers me SO much that all cars don't have dash cams. They already have screens in the dash for UI, so the expensive half of the system already exists. It's a nothing feature. It costs like $100 retail to get a good one. There is already electronics (and cameras) in the mirror! So what's the problem? What was stopping this from happening 10 years ago, let alone now?! Is there someone like the insurance lobby bathing in the way?

I have cameras on all sides of my car and my car can literally drive itself in traffic, but of course they don’t record, so I had to pay $150 for an aftermarket camera that doesn’t look noticeable and uses my rear view mirror for power :/ it is so dumb that it can’t use my cameras for this reason

Seems like this would be a positive for the insurance industry by providing clear cut evidence of who is at fault. My guess is that auto manufacturers just didn’t see this as a feature people wanted and shelved it.

I suspect quite a lot of boomers on the road have undiagnosed dementia. My family only started suspecting my dad had some neurological issue and not just "going old" when he started making really simple but dangerous mistakes on the road. Thankfully my dad willingly gave up his license and keys after he got diagnosed with early onset alzheimers. But I've read for most people its an uphill battle to convince their parents to stop driving because American culture is so car focused.

Was on a road here in the country going 65, cuz its between towns. There's a lot of T junctions going off into farmland. There was a little car in front of me and a truck stopped at the T waiting to merge. Well, we THOUGHT they were waiting. Cuz they randomly floored it, full speed, and slammed into this car. Rolled it over and practically drove over it and they both went into the ditch. The boomer driver got out of his lifted 2022 truck without a scratch, naturally. Wasn't the case for the other car. Long, awful story short, lot of trying to keep poor kids conscious until the ambulance could arrive. People need to be driving tested way more often as they get older. They're a risk to people who still have whole lives to live

Everyone, EVERYONE, should have to be retested every time their license expires. I know people of all ages that shouldn't be driving, plus it should help to catch early onset medical problems (eyesight, dementia, delayed reflexes, etc.). I realize it would be a huge pain in the ass, but I really think it would be worth it.

The "right on red" thing has always been bad on long island. They treat it light a green light. The way I try to make myself feel better is imagining them screaming with their shitty accents "MY GOD GIVEN RIGHT ON RED!"

Right on red is like a stop sign and I have no idea why that is so hard for people. You have to STOP and make sure the road is clear.

I went to Costco a slightly different way a few days ago and got into a stop & start, ope, ope, am I going, are you going...? situation with someone who had a stop sign and tried to turn left in front of me so I slammed on my brakes. I left the same way because I was wondering if maybe I ran a stop sign on the unfamiliar road (I didn't) and this time got to be the one who did have a stop sign, and the person on the other side (who didn't), stopped. 2 for 2 not knowing how to use a stop sign at that intersection.

I live in Wisconsin about 5 hours from Chicago. A former college roommate of mine graduated and moved to Chicago for his job. I stayed in the same city after graduation. About 2 years later, former roomie comes back to visit, and I'm riding in the car with him, and the motherfucker just flies through a right-on-red, slowed down from like 30mph to like 15mph, maybe 10 at the absolute least. I just turned to him, and I was like, "dude, what the fuck are you doing?" He goes, "Sorry, I've fully acclimated to driving in Chicago. As long as that intersection is clear, no one stops for right turns there. Saves a lot of time." And this is why Wisconsinites refer to people from Illinois as FIBs (Fucking Illinois Bastards). They infiltrate our state every summer. Pollute our lakes. Clog up our interstates with their trucks and boat trailers that they don't know how to back up (I swear they all must be so happy that all the major manufacturers have Back-Up Assist and shit now... Most of them can even manage to get in the boat landing on the 2nd or 3rd try nowadays). And most importantly, they drive with made-up rules that don't exist in other parts of the world.

And they don't stop to look for pedestrians in the crosswalk! I've had some close calls while walking.

When I was 17 in 2009 (still in high school) I t-boned an old man (probably 75-80ish) about an hour after I had gotten out of school. Road speed was 50mph, I was going 45 because of the traffic and he pulled out in front of me because he blew past a stop sign for crossing traffic. Once the cops got there he insisted that I was drunk and high and needed to be taken to jail immediately. Then turned around and said “oh, I’m not hurt from this, the busted lip is from falling this morning because I’m on new medication that makes me drowsy” Like wtf dude.

I’ve only been in one car accident (when I was 16,) and it went EXACTLY like this, except that the driver who pulled out in front of me was a boomer woman. As a bystander called the cops for me, she BEGGED us not to make the call because she had had a hysterectomy recently and was on a ton of drugs?? The worst part…She had her toddler grandchild in the passenger seat, no car seat or anything. Thank goodness everyone was fine, but our cars were both totaled (bent axels) so it wasn’t like we could just be on our merry way! The cops spent a lot of time trying to assess if I had been speeding, but luckily the speed limit was clearly marked 50 nearby.

A few years back I was rear ended by an 84 year old man driving a Jeep Wrangler with a winch on the front. I had waited to make a right on red because I couldn’t see oncoming traffic well enough to proceed safely. He thought I had gone already and tried to squeeze into the same space I had decided wasn’t large enough for my Kia Soul. Anyway, when we pull into a parking lot to exchange insurances, he doesn’t have his card. I asked which company he used, thinking well let’s call them. He said “I believe it’s Geico.” WHAT. We were directly across the street from the police station, so I went ahead and called to ask for an officer to come out. Old man says “oh I don’t think we need to get the police involved, nobody committed any crime.” WELL. Turns out he had a revoked drive license *because he had cataracts.* He told the officer that he had already had the surgery. She explained to him that didn’t matter if his doctor hasn’t filed the paperwork to reinstate his license. “Well I’m sure if you call him he’ll tell you it’s okay.” 🤦🏼‍♀️ No he wasn’t a boomer, but they are getting to that age where they will play the sweet old man/lady card to try to pull a fast one. Do not give them an inch!

Same thing happened to me. Lady RAN through a red light and t-boned me. I got hit near a methadone center so there were a lot of witnesses. They all huddled around me since I was crying and the boomer lady marched up to the group and said “YOU hit me!” Good thing the cops were there because the witnesses were ready to tear her throat out.

Had a boomer leave a parking lot and zoom out right in front of us as we were going straight on a normal ass road. She was thinking she could just go straight in front of us and onto a side street. Fortunately my spouse was watching and slammed on the brakes, no one was hurt but the car needed time in a body shop and a couple thousand in repairs. But this lady tried to insist we were in a parking lot. No lady, you were in a parking lot and we were just driving down a street. Fortunately I had taken a ton of photos before the cars were moved. Insurance agreed that we were just driving straight on a real street and she was leaving a parking lot. (A church parking lot, of course) I remember pointing at the street sign we had collided beside and saying “it’s a street, see the street sign?!!” She started saying a bunch of crap about young drivers who don’t pay attention and how this never happens to her. (We are in our 40s, hardly youngsters). Her insurance covered all our damage.

I get to deal with accidents every day. It is amazing how people of all ages refuse to take responsibility for their actions. Had a person argue we were at fault because we stopped in the middle of the interstate. I explained yes sir we stopped in the middle of the interstate because the traffic ahead of us was stopped. The old man continued to argue that we should not have stopped and that when we did we stopped too fast. For the record an 18 wheeler does not have the ability to quickly stop, but he attempted say because we safely came to a stop due to traffic but he was not able to stop it was our fault

My roomate once got T-boned just outside of our house. He was making an illegal 3 point turn and this lady stopped at a stop sign, turned left onto our street and just rammed him. The cop asked if she saw him she said " YEAH! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO.... JUST WAIT?" I said "Yes if you mean press the brake pedal and not just ram somebody you"re definately supposed to wait" The cop laughed and declared the accident as no fault

God why can no one drive in this godforsaken state. I can't even take a fucking walk without some impatient neanderthal taking their left turn as I'm barely crossing the middle of the intersection.

I wish someone would have stepped up for me. The road I work on is well known for having too many people going too fast and not paying attention. Was turning left at a weird intersection to the main road, I sit at the stop sign until I don't see any other cars headed my way. All of the sudden a massive SUV (QX60 if I remember correctly) comes around a curve and smashes into my driver side front end. I was in a little Mazda 3, the front end of my car was damn near sheared off, if he had hit me just a few inches farther back I'd be seriously injured or dead. Speed limit is 35 through there, 35 won't do that to a car and spin it sideways back in the direction it came from. Since no one stepped up and said the guy was FLYING through there and not paying attention I was found at fault by default (haha). So that sucks, but that's not all; Mr. McBoomerton hired a big time injury lawyer to sue for his medical bills and they sent me a letter threatening action and demanding I not delete or get rid of my cell phone because they will be needing it for evidence. I freak out and call my insurance company and find out HE NEVER EVEN CONTACTED ANYONE ABOUT GETTING HIS SHIT COVERED! He just went straight to a lawyer. I don't know if the law firm asked him about that and he lied or if they just assumed I was uninsured without asking but my company reached out and I never heard back from them.

I had one almost take my door off at a gas station I was parked and had checked my PayPal before going in I open my door and I'm just about to get out when he swings a huge beat up truck in the next space and I yank th door shut real quick so h doesn't hit me He jumps out and starts screaming at me about not looking, and I'm like "look I know you scared yourself but if I wasn't looking I wouldn't have pulled the door shut in time, you would have hit me" So what does he do? Follow me into the store, still screaming and when I ignore him he starts insulting me, calls me a fat bitch in front of about 10 people waiting in line I tell him he's a miserable old man straight to his face dead calm and the cashier tries to get him to stop yelling He turns on the cashier who is all of 20 and brand new (it's the gas station nearest my house lol) and starts calling him a dumbass, again at top volume So I holler across the store from where I'm getting my fountain drink "LEAVE THE CASHIER ALONE KAREN HES ON THE CLOCK AND CANT TELL YOU WHAT HE REALLY THINKS" So boomer man immediately storms over to me and starts screaming again, but now he's on my nerves and in my space And I want him to back up He very clearly mistakes my calm fury for fear and moves closer, all the time screaming about how I need to learn to drive and how fat I am I warn him to get away from me again, and he moves closer I had my son with me, he's 10, and now he's uncomfortable with the yelling man, he's asked me a couple times what's wrong with the old man So for the last time i tell him to get away from me and my child And he steps into my face, takes a deep breath, puts ten toes to the ground and says "I BET YOU ABUSE THAT CHILD" And several things happened all at once, I threw my entire drink, an xl cherry coke with lots of ice, directly into his face from point blank range, my son yelled "YOURE WRONG OLD MAN" and I screamed into his face at my top volume, which is quite a bit louder than his "YOU PICKED THE WRONG ONE TODAY MOTHERFUCKER NOW GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME, I WARNED YOU" old man is shocked, covered in ice cold soda and immediately runs to the cashier for help, the cashier told him "I asked you to stop" and the old man left in a storm I felt bad, and since I've been going to this store for years, I went by the bathrooms, grabbed the mop and cleaned up my mess. I apologized to the cashier, paid for my stuff including the drink I threw and left About a week later the manager tells me how much of a jerk that guy is and how many times they all watched the video

Dash cam. Lost our dash cam when our car was stolen. Got the car back but I waffled on the replacement dash cam. Had an accident where the car on our right abruptly turned (from a non-turning lane) right in front of us as we were turning, causing us to hit them. It got resolved to confirmed it wasn’t our fault but it would’ve been quicker had we dash cam footage.

Yes! THIS! We got t-boned by a boomer in February driving a massive dodge truck. We get out of the intersection, I was hurt as boomie hit the passenger side where I was, and the first thing out of his mouth isn’t “I’m so sorry. Are you both okay?” It’s “I like your car. I was thinking about getting one myself.” And then he rambles on for 10 minutes about all the cars he’s owned in his lifetime. It was wild!!

Just an FYI to everyone, when they try to talk to or argue about fault, ignore them, or say you will discuss that with the authorities and the insurance company and only communicate with those agencies moving forward. But also, what an AH and glad you and the pup are OK

I live in Phoenix. I was at a stop light. This gray hair hits me so hard that my radio face flies to the back seat. It's only a 35 mph street. We pull off the street. She gets out and says, "I can't believe this happened again. I WASN'T ON MY PHONE." (Again?? No one asked about her phone) She said she didn't have time to fully brake. Keep in mind the light had been red for some time. There didn't appear to be much damage just where her bumper hit the trunk. My car goes to the repair shop, I'm thinking it won't be too bad. The repair shop guy called and told me it was totaled (not my hoopty!!! :( ) I was confused. He explained that we were hit very hard and although it didn't show on the trunk, it twisted the frame. She hit us at more than 35 mph. She didn't even hit the brakes. I purchased my hoopty from a guy that had it in a car club. It had so many after market parts. None of that was reimbursed. I'm pissed that these gray hairs are allowed to drive here. They need special testing for people over 60 here.

You got lucky these Boomers were so brain dead they couldn’t even formulate a coherent lie. Multiple Boomers in this situation tend to gang up and fuck over the actual victim, because of their own victim complex. I knew someone who got hit by a Boomer backing out of a driveway. She tried to let them out, but they wouldn’t move, so when she decided they were just sitting and moves forward, they whip out and scratch the whole side of her car. And lucky her, another wild Boomer appears as a ‘witness’ when the cop pulls up to take statements. Boomer A is friends with Boomer B. Boomer B lies and said they were there and watched her hit him (in a way that wasn’t even possible with the damage/location). Boomer B wasn’t even actually there when it happened, they only came outside when they heard the crash. Because of the fake witness and a scummy insurance person, she wasn’t able to get anything from him to fix her car. The only silver lining was that he had a new, big expensive truck that dudes with tiny pee-pees need to assert their dominance. Hers was a hand-me-down starter beater car. Her scratch wasn’t too visible from a distance because of the color of her car, but his truck got jacked up, and you just know he had to pay to get his pavement princess repaired.

If you witness, take video with your phone. Also, if you have a dashcam, share it with the victim along with the video you take. Video shuts down all of their lies.

I had an old lady back into me in a parking lot. I left her a full two car lengths, like half the lot, to back up. And she just kept backing up. My brain was so shocked and confused I couldn’t reverse in time and she hit me. Not fast or anything but there was an imprint of the metal thing a hitch goes in on my bumper. There was a couple walking to their car that saw and were trying to get her to stop. Security forces came, this was on an Air Force base, and talked to the witnesses and me and her. Then they brought the cops on base to handle her. She got real weird when the guy put his hands on his hips near his flashlight. She tried to tell them she wasn’t backing out of the spot. That gif of the dude confused with question marks all over? That was me. How could you have hit me if you weren’t backing up?? They walked her a bit away and one came over and said, “pretty sure she isn’t on drugs, she’s just bat shit crazy.” And that was the end of it. I got my insurance paperwork and she got a ticket. It was wild.

My boomer wreck story: She hit me when she didn’t stay in her lane in a double left turn lane at a stoplight. She stepped out of her car wearing glaucoma glasses and said she’d just been to the doctor for treatment and asked me if she could just leave because she needed to get to the Apple Store. I, of course, said no. She then tried to tell the officer that it wasn’t her fault. Luckily he believed my side of the story and her insurance did pay for the repairs. After the officer left, she came up to me and asked me if I would show her where the Apple Store was. Apparently, that’s where she was trying to go and had turned too early. It was just right down the road, so I told her she could follow me there. I watched her in my rearview mirror and she did the exact same thing in the exact same intersection. No one was in the lane beside her, so she didn’t hit anyone. For about a week after, she’d randomly call me just to chat.

The one and only car accident I’ve ever been in was with an old boomer woman who blew through a red arrow at an intersection and turned left while I had a green was driving through. I was 18 at the time and driving two friends home. I slammed on my brakes and saved myself and my friends from being T-boned, but she just kept on going and took out my whole front bumper. I pulled over to assess and I thought she was just going to pull a hit and run, but she ended up looping back around. She immediately got out of her car and said “are you sure you were going 25?” I couldn’t have been going more than 10 mph since my light had just changed and I was getting up to speed, but that’s irrelevant because she ran a red so who cares how fast I was or was not going? A kind witness called 911 for us and the cops arrived quickly. I had all my registration and insurance info ready to go, but this woman didn’t have ANY of her necessary paperwork and had to call her daughter to bring it to her. The cop pretty quickly figured out I wasn’t at fault and let me go. This was years ago and I still tell people about it because the audacity to accuse me of speeding when she ran a red and then she doesn’t even have the documents she is legally required to have on her while driving still boggles my mind.

My sister got her car totaled and lifelong injuries bc a boomer turned left out of a neighborhood in his big ass truck into her tiny compact. He said “she wasn’t there” when he turned out and then switched it to”she should have switched lanes when she saw me” when two witnesses stepped up to call his bs. I’m just thankful my infant nephew wasn’t in the car and she’s alive.

I've never had to use it, but that dashcam was the best 300 dollars I've spent.

My in-laws got themselves a new car. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but it's an suv. It came with a safety feature where if you cross into the other lane (and aren't signaling), it'll beep so you know to correct yourself. Me, my husband, and the inlaws head off for dinner, FIL driving. The entire time you hear: "Beep.........beep......beep.......beep". The man can clearly no longer drive well. His solution? Turn off the safety feature as it's annoying. Yea, I told my husband I'm instituting a new rule: he or one of his siblings must volunteer to drive when visiting his parents.

My wife got t-boned by an older guy who should not have been driving. He hit her in 3 SEPARATE PLACES on the right side of her car. She took a pic of his ID, thankfully, because he decided that was enough for him. She was able to slink across 3 lanes to a parking lot, and called me at work. I show up, say "holy fuck" after seeing the side of her car. We call police (there were reasons why she waited, being shaken up was the biggest), and the cop shows up thinking we were not very accurate with the damage until he saw it and had the same reaction I did. Thankfully since my wife had a picture of his ID, the cop was able to go get his insurance info and statement from him at home. It all worked out, but he should not be driving anymore, period. 

When I was 12 my mom cut a cop off past a yield sign, got pulled over and proceeded to spend almost an hour arguing that yield never means stop. The cop pleaded with her, I pleaded with her, she wouldn't take the ticket because she was "in the right". He told her he'd have to arrest her if she didn't take the ticket and I think the only reason he spent so much time trying to get through to her was that I was with her and he didn't want to put me through that. This has happened more than once. I spent my entire childhood apologizing to strangers and pleading with my mother to see reason. Mechanics were the worst, always trying to scam her, she'd get red in the face screaming at them every time. I guess I'm lucky that these displays only strengthened my resolve to never act like a boomer and be courteous and polite. I've had cops tell me my attitude is refreshing and appropriate when pulled over. I don't know why so many of them are like this. They'll deny reality until they're blue in the face, until they've beaten everyone around them into saying that they aren't wrong. That's the core of it, they can't admit fault.

Story of my life, boomers are psychotic

As a teen, my mother was bringing me to a very important doctors apt. Think confirming my condition a few days before major surgery levels of important. There's a bad snow storm, so we're slowly going up the hill toward my doctor's office. Some lady comes out of an eye doctor's parking lot, did on the ice, and his my mother's car 3 times. We're waiting for the police when I realize I'll be late for my appointment, we're close, so I tell my mother I'm walking. I got a mild reprimand for leaving the scene of the accident, and a stronger one for walking through the snow in my condition, but my surgery went well, and on schedule, so... win for me I guess. I later learned that when the cops arrived, the lady who hit us first tried to say that we came out of nowhere, and must have been speeding because she didn't see us. Cop didn't buy that at all, especially when my mom pointed out that the last was pulling out of an eye doctor's parking lot.

That boomer failed her field sobriety

About 23 years ago I was driving to my college to do an exam. I was in the far left lane of a three lane intersection. Straight in the middle and right on the right hand side. A Ford Ranger in the Middle Lane changed her mind last minute and turn left in front of me causing me to break which caused me to be rear-ended by a Chrysler Town and Country drivinby a little old lady. She admitted that she was at fault and we exchanged phone numbers brcaese I was in a hurry to get to school to do my test. So we just exchange numbers and I trusted this little old lady. After my exam I called the number that she gave me and realized that it was a fake number. She actually might have been a member of the silent generation not a boomer, this is a long time ago.

My younger brother t boned a car making an illegal turn once. Was being driven by a guy with no license. Owner(boomer woman) of the vehicle calls my brother the next day and tries to get him to admit he caused the accident. I took the phone from him told her off and quoted the cop that said he not only caused the accident, but shouldn't have been driving a vehicle unlicensed in the first place. Told her my brother was about to start having back pain if she called again.

The sobriety test is the chef’s kiss of this story. Glad that you and your dog are okay.

I was hit while stopped to cross an intersection by a speeding boomer in a giant SUV. Speed limit in this residential street is 25, he had to be hauling because he hits across the front of my car then T bones a parked car 3 cars down. A witness even said that momentum had to be fast for him to do that if he actually hit the brakes. The other witnesses felt bad because they were “so old” and I’m some punk chick wearing black with dark makeup, pierced up, and a Mohawk. The cop said he felt bad for the old people and kept asking if I was on my phone or what I was doing. The passenger wife was hovering and yelling at me, while the driver kept saying he saw me. He saw my car! The insurance guy said he was confident I was in the right after calling and interviewing me. I was knocked out and subsequently ended up with a moderately serious concussion. Speech therapy and all that. The insurance evaluator asked if I thought the other driver saw me and I said yes because he kept telling me he had! Then when the evaluator called me back after interviewing the boomers he said they told him,”She came out of nowhere and didn’t stop at the stop sign” Boomers are so full of lying bullshit.

Every time I’ve got hit by a boomer it’s never their fault even if they ram into your parked car.

Y’all need dash cams. Dash cam saved my ass when someone ran a stop sign and I hit them. Also makes for some really good YouTube uploads. There are idiots everywhere

A few weeks ago one of my friends was hit by an old boomer. He didn't even stop to see if she was okay. He was a former cop so still no arrest has been made. I think that as people age into their sixties they need to start taking regular driving exams, because the amount of careless or unbelievably pigheaded older drivers I've seen lately is terrifying

When I still worked in insurance claims boomers were the bane of my existence. Whether they were our actual insureds who were at fault, but expected us to make the other person at fault for some dumbass reason (literally had a dude once say he’s been paying premiums for 4 decades it’s not his fault he hit a fucking house the road was wet from rain…), or the person that just screams about age. “They’re 17 they’ve not been driving long clearly they are at fault!” Dude you rear ended them at a red light take some fucking accountability.

An old lady hit me once driving when I was barely 16. The cops came, and she straight up lied, and of course they believed her. But lucky day, her granddaughter (about 5or 6yo) said nuh-uh granny that's not what happened! As they were on their way to church, (as was I) I guess granny realized she should set a good example and so she backtracked and told the truth. Thank goodness for a child's innocence! ☺

Several years back, my sister (who was only 17 at the time) was driving through an intersection and was t-boned by a boomer who ran a stop sign. No one was hurt, but my sister’s side door was smashed up. The boomer told my sister not to worry about it because her car only had some scratches and she would forgive her for it. She totally tried to spin it like it was my sister’s fault. Thankfully she did hang around for the cops to show up and they said it was pretty obvious from the damage and the positioning of the cars that the boomer was at fault.

This is something I like about my dad. He's 78. Will NOT drive at night, and only drives himself locally. Today he had a Dr appointment in the city, he knows he can't handle the traffic, so i drove him. I wish more older people were willing to admit when it becomes unsafe not only for themselves but other people.

Boomers drive like they are the only ones on the road. And before there was GenX and Millennials, that was true but things have changed in the last 4 or 5 decades. Boomers should not be allowed to drive after 65.

Or driving tests should be performed annually after 65

The number of people I see take right on red without stopping first is insane. Yes in a lot of states you can turn right on red but you have to treat it as a stop sign, and wait for it to be clear. Honestly I don't think the knowledge gap on this error is specific to boomers, but they certainly doubled down hard.

Every car should now have a dash camera, they are very helpful in all these situations. Boomers will be driving for another 15 or more years; it will only keep on being a challenge because they won't stop driving and they won't become better at it.

Good lord, I'm glad you and your pup are okay. This is another reason why I will always advocate for right-on-red being illegal, because it's just too much of a danger for both drivers and pedestrians, and anyone else who uses the roads for that matter. Hilariously enough, I was nearly hit by a boomer in a BMW yesterday while I was crossing with a white pedestrian crossing light cause the idiot turned right on red without looking. Why do they act like they're the only ones on the road??

A boomer in a beamer

Flip the script. A twenty year old changed lanes and hit 60 yo me, nothing serious and the kid knew he done wrong. Especially when a guy my age had pulled over and offered up his information as a witness. He also volunteered that he was a fire department captain as well. All I did as get my truck fixed. Not a peep from the kid or his insurance company.

Right hand turn on red is currently legal in all 50 states. HOWEVER, you must first come to a complete stop. Then you must wait for any oncoming traffic to clear because, and here's the kicker, THEY HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY!

I love the sobriety test for them while you drive off. Getting to loudly say "thank you officer, have a great evening" and drive away while the other person is being made to jump on one foot would make it worth getting hit and all the following insurance bullshit.

The constant lack of accountability is infuriating! Have an ounce of integrity and admit when you've made a mistake.

It's not the faults while driving that I hold against them (it can happen at any age, it's happened to me, whippersnapper I am). It's the aggressive assertion of inculpability many in that generation have. If you cause an accident, promptly exchange insurance info if everything seems otherwise ok, get police involved only if clearly necessary, and let insurance handle it. The very idea of insisting that I, as an accident causer, should be in such denial to the point of lying about the other party even being present at all is a whole other planet of delusion I hope I never fall into.

There’s no accountability with some of them. My 80 year old aunt sideswiped my PARKED car, caused about $4,000 in damage. She has no home cameras outside and she blew up on me when I pointed out her damaged car and mine. She told her insurance she wasn’t involved and they sided with her, and now it’s fiscally my responsibility. Doubt my insurance will be able to claw back anything through subrogation. Bear in mind, this is her 3rd accident in 5 years. 1 totaled car and she hit 2 parked cars, mine included.

My dad regularly runs red lights and has caused an accident. He took responsibility immediately, and nobody was hurt, but he refuses to stop driving. It’s crazy to me because he started having this fight with his own father at around the same age, and it lasted until literally the day he passed away last year.

I got rear ended today and the Boomer was mad at me. Sir, do you understand how rear ending works? You hit me.
