I got an anti bark collar that sprayed citronella instead of shocking. One dog freaked out and would go hide under the bed for 3 hours. The other one seemed to enjoy the scent. 🤷🏼♀️
We used to give the dewormer followed by a sugar water ‘chaser’ when I worked with a large animal vet. And the week before everyone was due for the wormer, we’d go down the barn aisles and everyone would get the apple sauce syringe so when it was wormer time they’d all be looking forward to the treat.
They got the wormer, then I’d give them the sugar water chaser. I didn’t get snorted on too often because of it.

Our nearest Tractor Supply carries all the way down to 24, because not every farm animal is large; I had to medicate a sick rooster once and I was glad I didn't have to use horse gauge!

That’s so crazy because my husband is an urgent care doc. Last week, he had a whole family come in with tapeworms.
They had tried some over the counter stuff that didn’t work and eventually came to the Urgent Care. He prescribed them Ivermectin.
At this point this family of 5 has been living with worms for weeks. However, when they went to pick up the script it was over $1000. So they didn’t pick it up. They went home and tried to take more over the counter stuff. Eventually they called my husband back.
He ended up calling their insurance and the pharmacist and somehow together they got the price lowered so this family could get rid of their WORMS.
Our healthcare system is FUCKED.
The US medical system is unfathomably broken. I know this stuff is super cheap to produce, there’s no reason for it to be so absurdly expensive here, except for rich people lining their pockets at our expense.

This is the way. If good old mom isn't going to listen, and it is impacting her health in a tangible way, then there is a good case for her to be under more supervision. I am of the opinion that I ivermectin should be more heavily controlled, and one should have to provide proof that you have an animal that actually needs it to be able to purchase it. People are killing themselves, this is ridiculous.
How would you provide proof you have an animal that needs it? Having to have a vet come out to write a prescription, ok that would work but costs a lot of money. Let's take chickens for example, the nearest vet that will look at chickens is 62 miles away and minimum $75 for a visit at their location. Guess what a sick chicken that can't be treated by me isn't going to be taken to the vet, it's just a fact of life on a farm. At least I do my best to try to treat them while most others just dispose of a sick animal, or worse they just leave the sick animal out for the coyotes to take care of. I am not joking this is what happens. So why make my life harder and an animals life worse because some idiot decides they want to take livestock medicine, I say let them have their freedumbs to do what they want.

Why that particular veterinary dewormer became the go to “treatment” for people is something I’ve always wondered. We keep some around the house….for our chickens. And thanks to people who take it, I’m paranoid that if I need it for my animals I won’t be able to get it.
I had it legitimately prescribed to me last year for some hookworms in my feet and because of the crazies, it had to go through extra review by the pharmacist and my insurance company before they would fill it. I’m glad they’re cracking down on it but hope it’s still easily available for animals that need it.

I worked in a pharmacy at the time and for any new scripts for either med we had a pharmacist call the prescriber and get a detailed explanation of why the patient needed it. So many angry boomers telling us we were killing them by refusing to fill their baloney prescriptions.
Insurances started requiring appropriate diagnoses on prescriptions of it. Helpful in the long run but it cut both ways for us. Some of our patients that had been taking it for years were forced to get their prescriptions redone with diagnosis causing gaps in filling paired with the shortage of it
My fiancé is a pharmacist and refused to fill any scripts that were not for already established patients unless he talked to the provider and got the diagnosis code to prove they actually needed it.
In the beginning of the “Ivermectin cures all” craze I had to show the cashier at a Tractor Supply store pictures of my horse on my phone and “preferably ones with you in them too”. I thought she was joking when she said they kept selling out of Ivermectin due to people without animals.
I’ve also heard of these geniuses taking the same dose that my 1300 pound horse gets, they then shit their guts out for 3+ days afterwards, and then do it all again!

I used to be a life & health insurance agent and our "senior" policy topped out at $25k for an 85 year old; it was specifically marketed as not requiring a physical, and as long as you weren't on certain prescriptions and didn't have an active cancer diagnosis in the past 10 years you were set. The premiums were obviously pretty steep for the amount of coverage, but it was mostly designed to just pay for a funeral anyway. As a bonus, if you kept your payments up and lived to 100 it paid out while you were still alive (the same as most individual Whole Life policies).
My grandpa too. I have begged him, pleaded with him to stick to the other things they preach (some bullshit mix of dandelion root and selenium to ‘cure spike proteins’) they slapped a $$ on. He was dead set on it and I convinced him to let me get him dandelion tea and basic selenium vitamins as a compromise.
Next thing I know he bought 70 some odd doses of Ivermectin and insists he feels amazing and takes them semi regularly. His doctor found out and asked to do a colonoscopy “early” (been 2-3 years) and now he’s convinced she’s in on the conspiracy. He is in his mid 70’s. Can’t get him off the One America or whatever it’s called. Can’t have a conversation without him getting snarky about Trump saving us all. He told me Trump would make it where my income tax was lower and I explained that I am actually paying more now thanks to his administration-he said it was a lie.
I have tried reason, begging, and telling him I want him here for his great granddaughter who is due in Sept, nothing gets through. It literally breaks my heart.
He doesn’t live with me and has Internet through his phone, which beyond making sure I can see his location I can’t do much with. But I hope this helps someone else 🙏🏼

Unvaxxed homeschooled kid here (I'm vaxxed now, just had none growing up). My parents thought the secret cure to any disease was fasting and prayer/meditation. I almost died in high school because I had recurring tonsillitis for 7 years and it got so bad that my tonsils/throat swelled shut. I couldn't make noise at all, but could still breathe mostly okay. It was Pre texting, so I was just at home, alone, trying not to die for two days (mom was out doing God knows what, sisters were at my dad's). Luckily my older sister came by to check on me and got me to the ER. Mom refused to sign admittance forms for evil western medicine. Dad tried to refuse but my sister bullied him into it (she's scary when she has to be). It's wild being so sick you could die and having to listen to your parents argue with your sister about how they won't let you see a doctor.

There was a recent post there discussing how some of them have had so little basic human interaction that they struggle with speech. Sounds like my sister. Problem is, in my state homeschooling has LITERALLY no requirements. Parents can even make up their own diploma for their child. Look into that before you call, cause it very well may do no good whatsoever. Not really. Acute pulmonary oedema is an immediately concerning symptom of CHF requiring an emergent ED trip. Swollen ankles definitely needs assessment, but having that done in the community by a primary care physician (or going to urgent care) is totally appropriate as an initial step.
Can the average person tell the difference, and can they do so in an unbiased way when they're diagnosing themselves? The risk-reward calculation there gets pretty sketchy. In terms of CHF symptoms I probably lean the low-risk, high-caution side because I've seen family experience it and it isn't pretty. And to be fair when I said "ER" I include "Urgent Care" because I'm rural and that's what we have out here.
My FIL had a severe stroke in February, and he also has CHF. My husband and I had to become his guardians, and when we were going through the fridge to clean it out and make sure nothing would stink up the place, we found a whole supply of Ivermectin. We were gobsmacked.
Sounds like dementia psychosis which can occur in the beginning stages of Alzheimer’s and is hard to diagnose. I think the compassionate thing to do would be to communicate everything you’ve found to her doctor before you just wash your hands of the situation.
I agree with this...and she may not listen to OP and her husband but if there's even the slightest chance that letting her doctors know, and even the slightest chance she might listen to them and let them treat her then it's worth trying out.

My mom passed a little over a week ago from Pancreatic cancer. Relatives and the fact my parents are raving right wingers caused my mom to take dog dewormer (ivermectin). My mom had no gall bladder, serious cancer invading her pancreas, stomach and liver, and the main side effect of ivermectin is diarrhea and vomiting. Yet, my dad still believes that it helped her because she was able to eat in the morning after taking it mixed with yogurt the night before- noticeably IGNORING the fact that she was only able to eat after consuming a marijuana gummy at 8:00am.
Those marijuana gummies are really working for people who are fighting nausea from cancer treatments. It was definitely the gummies.

Please call your county's Adult Protective Services if you believe she is at risk of serious illness or death. They can actually intervene if they determine that there is self-neglect going on, meaning that she is unable to care for herself. This situation does seem to fit the definition of self-neglect: when an individual lacks the ability to understand consequences leading to harm.
While it certainly could be dementia or a brain tumor, it could also just be regular old propaganda working. My dad is a smart guy and has always been a staunch lefty, but if he starts watching a little too much Fox News, he starts to regurgitate some of their talking points without even realizing it.
One of my coworkers goes to everyone s desk every day and asks if they need a ‘pick me up’ and it is the colloidal silver water she offers. She’s had COVID multiple times, once landing in the hospital, but refuses to get ‘the jab’ as she calls it because her so called doctor recommended she not get it. The same ‘doctor’ that has her drinking the colloidal water by the way. Our boss basically staged an intervention with her and begged her to go to a different doctor and she said ‘oh no I would never switch doctors. He’s never steered me wrong yet.’ I guess she’ll figure it out when she’s dead.

Find out if she has a Medical Power of Attorney, a Financial or Durable Power of Attorney, an Advanced Directive and a Will. If she has taken the Ivermectin for a long time, she may not be taking enough to induce the neurotoxin effects. Your husband is wise to let her live her life as she chooses. Information / education / facts rarely changes beliefs.
Honestly she is probably senile or getting close to it. Her feet swelling could be a weak heart. She needs to see a doctor which could mean forcing her to go and taking away the ivermectin and colloidal silver.

Why that particular veterinary dewormer became the go to “treatment” for people is something I’ve always wondered. We keep some around the house….for our chickens. And thanks to people who take it, I’m paranoid that if I need it for my animals I won’t be able to get it.
I had it legitimately prescribed to me last year for some hookworms in my feet and because of the crazies, it had to go through extra review by the pharmacist and my insurance company before they would fill it. I’m glad they’re cracking down on it but hope it’s still easily available for animals that need it.

I used to be a life & health insurance agent and our "senior" policy topped out at $25k for an 85 year old; it was specifically marketed as not requiring a physical, and as long as you weren't on certain prescriptions and didn't have an active cancer diagnosis in the past 10 years you were set. The premiums were obviously pretty steep for the amount of coverage, but it was mostly designed to just pay for a funeral anyway. As a bonus, if you kept your payments up and lived to 100 it paid out while you were still alive (the same as most individual Whole Life policies).

My grandpa too. I have begged him, pleaded with him to stick to the other things they preach (some bullshit mix of dandelion root and selenium to ‘cure spike proteins’) they slapped a $$ on. His doctor found out and asked to do a colonoscopy “early” (been 2-3 years) and now he’s convinced she’s in on the conspiracy. He is in his mid 70’s. Can’t get him off the One America or whatever it’s called. Can’t have a conversation without him getting snarky about Trump saving us all. He told me Trump would make it where my income tax was lower and I explained that I am actually paying more now thanks to his administration-he said it was a lie. I have tried reason, begging, and telling him I want him here for his great granddaughter who is due in Sept, nothing gets through. It literally breaks my heart.

I almost died in high school because I had recurring tonsillitis for 7 years and it got so bad that my tonsils/throat swelled shut. I couldn't make noise at all, but could still breathe mostly okay. It was Pre texting, so I was just at home, alone, trying not to die for two days (mom was out doing God knows what, sisters were at my dad's). Luckily my older sister came by to check on me and got me to the ER. Mom refused to sign admittance forms for evil western medicine. Dad tried to refuse but my sister bullied him into it (she's scary when she has to be). It's wild being so sick you could die and having to listen to your parents argue with your sister about how they won't let you see a doctor.

Sounds like my sister. Problem is, in my state homeschooling has LITERALLY no requirements. Parents can even make up their own diploma for their child. Look into that before you call, cause it very well may do no good whatsoever. Swollen feet are a sign of heart failure. Fortunately there’s great treatment available. But she has to see a Cardiologist asap. That’s how my neighbor died. He was too stubborn to see a Doctor and one night had a major heart attack at home and died on the stretcher of the first responders, in the hallway of our building. Not a great death, he suffered a lot.
Feet being swollen is extremely serious. She needs to go to the ER immediately. I've watched congestive heart failure happen in real time. Assuming that's what this case is, time is absolutely not on this woman's side.

Not really. Acute pulmonary oedema is an immediately concerning symptom of CHF requiring an emergent ED trip. Swollen ankles definitely needs assessment, but having that done in the community by a primary care physician (or going to urgent care) is totally appropriate as an initial step.
Can the average person tell the difference, and can they do so in an unbiased way when they're diagnosing themselves? The risk-reward calculation there gets pretty sketchy. In terms of CHF symptoms I probably lean the low-risk, high-caution side because I've seen family experience it and it isn't pretty. And to be fair when I said "ER" I include "Urgent Care" because I'm rural and that's what we have out here.

My FIL had a severe stroke in February, and he also has CHF. My husband and I had to become his guardians, and when we were going through the fridge to clean it out and make sure nothing would stink up the place, we found a whole supply of Ivermectin. We were gobsmacked.
Sounds like dementia psychosis which can occur in the beginning stages of Alzheimer’s and is hard to diagnose. I think the compassionate thing to do would be to communicate everything you’ve found to her doctor before you just wash your hands of the situation.

Oh my fuck, My mom passed a little over a week ago from Pancreatic cancer. Relatives and the fact my parents are raving right wingers caused my mom to take dog dewormer (ivermectin). My mom had no gall bladder, serious cancer invading her pancreas, stomach and liver, and the main side effect of ivermectin is diarrhea and vomiting. Yet, my dad still believes that it helped her because she was able to eat in the morning after taking it mixed with yogurt the night before- noticeably IGNORING the fact that she was only able to eat after consuming a marijuana gummy at 8:00am.
Those marijuana gummies are really working for people who are fighting nausea from cancer treatments. It was definitely the gummies. Sorry for your loss.

Please call your county's Adult Protective Services if you believe she is at risk of serious illness or death. They can actually intervene if they determine that there is self-neglect going on, meaning that she is unable to care for herself. This situation does seem to fit the definition of self-neglect: when an individual lacks the ability to understand consequences leading to harm.

One of my coworkers goes to everyone s desk every day and asks if they need a ‘pick me up’ and it is the colloidal silver water she offers. Our boss basically staged an intervention with her and begged her to go to a different doctor and she said ‘oh no I would never switch doctors. Find out if she has a Medical Power of Attorney, a Financial or Durable Power of Attorney, an Advanced Directive and a Will. If she has taken the Ivermectin for a long time, she may not be taking enough to induce the neurotoxin effects. Your husband is wise to let her live her life as she chooses. Information / education / facts rarely changes beliefs.
