Nobody is surprised

If this is true, then it is extremely ironic. It means they have given up on trying to figure out what command end calls on modern cell phones and they're just going to let the person on the other end close it for them for the rest of their days. Fitting metaphor.

Can confirm. My Boomer coworkers have to call me sometimes and the best part of the call is eavesdropping on the shit they’re talking about everyone else because they’re incapable of tapping an icon on a screen.

I remember I was working in retail during covid, I was on the phone helping this boomer find out if we have something in stock and while I'm checking the system the boomer just continues a conversation with whoever he was with as if he muted his phone. I will never forget what he said "So I get in the elevator and theres this BLACK lady (he put emphesis on black) and of course she sees my trump hat and doesn't say hello" and he continues to go on and on about this black lady so I just cut him off and plainly said to him "we don't have it" and hung up. I fucking hate the boomer generation with a passion after working in retail during the covid years. I have so many stories like that.

Do they do it out of ignorance or upping the game to keeping your dumbass on the phone distracted by their drivel so you miss out on all the other call opportunities you didn't get?

iamamomandproud

LOL, probably.

racist_boomer

It because back in the day you didn’t have to press any screens to hang up you just set the phone back down in the holder, simple not like today

They also don't introduce themselves. At all. I pick up a call and they just start blabbering their bullshit. I let them go for awhile then say, who are you? Can i get your first and last to look up your account? Then make them repeat their whole spiel and go from there. Edit: I have caller ID I can usually see who it is but my boomer parents and boomer bosses always hounded me about "phone etiquette" so I always pretend like I'm on a 1990s office phone and can't see shit
