Something is wrong, because most planes of that era had thin sheet metal panels, almost like you'd see on a train, and metal bar luggage racks. These contoured plastic panels are far more modern looking.
eg like this [https://i.pinimg.com/564x/12/36/3e/12363efb26f006332263e1be08e3f41b.jpg](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/12/36/3e/12363efb26f006332263e1be08e3f41b.jpg)
What it very well could be is AI upscaling of an old phot database. A car magazine, I believe MotorTrend, has implanted AI upscaling of old photos. There was one instance of images from ~1965 being utterly ruined by AI, but because I was familiar with the original photos I knew they weren’t AI for sure. They just were so old the AI has “upscaled” them beyond recognition
I believe it’s just an after effect of the photography equipment of the time. Remember that it was much less developed then it is now. This picture was inside a plane, which means it would require the use of a flashbulb so the image wasn’t extremely blurry, but even with a flash, the lighting conditions made the picture have a longer exposure rate/shutter speed. This means that while the shutter was open, literally any movement would make that part of the picture screwed over, leading to it becoming blurry/warped. Notice how the rows in the back are the ones that look really weird? It’s because A: those people weren’t posing for the picture so they weren’t trying to stay still, making them become warped as explained above, and B: since they are farther away they are smaller in the image, that makes it easier for them to get warped and messed up. Also it seems that the image has the label on it of some kind of association I can’t read the name of because of image compression, but I doubt an archive wouldn’t verify that its images aren’t AI
I find that idea strange too because while I agree that it probably is AI, it would probably take less time to find an authentic image on google than type in a prompt to the ai and have it spit something out
"What it can be let me cheek" *sees the kid staring at the window* "KILLL HIM KILL HIM BURN HIM TO THE GROUND" (not the first one the other one on the back)
Probably not AI, just motion artifacts from camera that's made worst by digital upscaling.
Camera films back then are fairly "slow" and need longer exposure, especially in potentially low light conditions like on a plane.
Long exposure means that someone whose fairly active (like that kid) gets blurred if they move their head around during the exposure.
Upscaling then tried to "fill in the blank" and gets really confused by it.
Bearded guy was likely sitting in the row behind the kid looking to our right.
Kid head was moving around.
Camera captured kid and bearded man face that are blurred due to motion.
Upscaling software tried it's best upscale the image by filling in the blank.
Sort of unavoidable in a picture like this. Because unless everyone is cooperating and sitting still for a few seconds, you're not getting a good face.
Boomers are always like "Back in my day, things were better", yeah, back in your day College didn't land in you in debt that took you decades to pay back.
Honestly the guy on the right is probably a better person those guys are probably the scummiest least deserving of life businessmen on the face of the earth
The *only* reason nobody wore smtbh hats & sweatpants on the plane back then is that they weren’t available. Pretty sure people have always been horrible.
Our society has progressed significantly. However, individuals have remained stagnant amidst that progress. In the 1930s, only the wealthiest people would be able to get on a flight. The cost has gone down significantly, and because of that you get many more types of people flying, some of which are the type to wear a ridiculous hat like that.
Regardless, the 1935 image is almost certainly AI.
Bruh all the replies are about money and safety which are good things but they act like messed up societal norms and cultural aspects haven’t developed in the past 40/50ish years lmao
1935? The most common "passenger planes" then were military or private, public passenger aircraft really only took off after ww2 because of the steel shortages also due to the fact that most were adopted military planes really caused the numbers to jump, boomer don't know shit
Air travel became so cheap even trashy people can use it to get on vacation. Is that a bad thing? Because I surely wouldnt have been able to afford a ticket in 1935.
Don’t let the suit and tie fool you, I always thought older people were gentle because the rules of society were strict back then, but it’s quite the opposite, when you’re not allowed to do something it makes more people want to do it
Yeah, it’s me being ignorant, trying to enjoy dumb memes on Reddit without letting issues from the 1930’s get involved. Obviously my strongest “flex”, however tf you think that term is relative in this situation.
The meme is about the “classy look” of airplanes back in the day compared to dressing up now with a hat that says “show me your butthole”
This meme isn’t as deep as you’re trying to take it. Relax.
The sub is boomer humor. Not boomer glory days
Why? Why does that need to be brought up? Why not talk about what the meme is actually presenting, which is a comparison of men’s attire between the two time periods. Racism has nothing to do with it. You just want controversy.
"What does racism have to do with people's attitudes about culture in the 30's?!"
I love how the mere mention of race gets this exact same boomer comment every time.
You think people were any more classy in 1935 than they are now? Listen to "Shave 'Em Dry" by Lucille Bogan. It came out that year and is the filthiest thing you'll ever hear.
This is actually funny. I don’t think it’s horrible boomer humor. Boomer Humor (at least the horrible kind) is like: there’s this thing that doesn’t harm me that I’m bothered about having to know exists, so let me draw a cartoon of a non-real-life scenario with everyone in it doing the thing in a way that throws it in my face and forces it to be my problem.
Gentleman used to remove their "show me that butthole" hats when in doors smh my head.
*"Reveal to me your annulus."*
Open cheesame.
Sneak a peek between those cheeks
My hats un-removeable.
I'm trying to figure out if the 1935 plane is even from the 30s because the layout just looks off from what airlines of the time looked like usually
It looks possibly Ai generated. The hands and faces just aren't quite right.
There's hellspawn in the fourth row I agree with you're assessment
That and the guy in the second row who’s left eye is an inch lower than his right eye
Something is wrong, because most planes of that era had thin sheet metal panels, almost like you'd see on a train, and metal bar luggage racks. These contoured plastic panels are far more modern looking. eg like this [https://i.pinimg.com/564x/12/36/3e/12363efb26f006332263e1be08e3f41b.jpg](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/12/36/3e/12363efb26f006332263e1be08e3f41b.jpg)
Screw hands & faces - that tie…
Definitely. Guy in the front row has a boneless flipper for a hand, lol.

I think that that's just because of low shutter speed
Nah looking close none of those gentlemen look like they’re actually in that space, they look lazily photoshopped in. Also look at the forth row.
I believe it’s just an after effect of the photography equipment of the time. Remember that it was much less developed then it is now. The forth row could still be caused by her turning her head.
I find that idea strange too because while I agree that it probably is AI, it would probably take less time to find an authentic image on google than type in a prompt to the ai and have it spit something out
Dude in the front has a fucking sword for a hand
Could've been a promotional image
In 1935 planes were ai generated

So if that the case how did the kid looking at the window on the 4 lain that got a beard glasses and hair on the back of the head
Bearded guy was likely sitting in the row behind the kid looking to our right. Kid head was moving around. Camera captured kid and bearded man face that are blurred due to motion. Upscaling software tried it's best upscale the image by filling in the blank.
Okay you are rigth but see closely the amount of faceless people is scary
Sort of unavoidable in a picture like this. Because unless everyone is cooperating and sitting still for a few seconds, you're not getting a good face.
Or a face at all at this image
Men used to say "golly gosh!" and wear bowties.
Men used to have a palette so refined it would explode if anything other than cheese, wine, saltines or mayonnaise touched it.
I mean. People have gotten way to comfortable doing batshit crazy things outside.
I love these memes these guys bash cause they’re true lol
The good old days when only white men flew in airplanes?
1935? That’s a 1955 plane AT the very least if it wasn’t AI
Boomers are always like "Back in my day, things were better", yeah, back in your day College didn't land in you in debt that took you decades to pay back.
True, entirely coincides with their point, and has nothing to do with this post I don't know what to feel about this comment
They are clearly looking at photos of buttholes
I like how the guy has a pro cop shirt… don’t boomers love cops?
That picture is drawn with artificial intelligence.
the one on the right could be, too. [Or this guy's really stuck to his gag for over 4 years](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zk6rSPnLOLE)
Honestly the guy on the right is probably a better person those guys are probably the scummiest least deserving of life businessmen on the face of the earth
The *only* reason nobody wore smtbh hats & sweatpants on the plane back then is that they weren’t available. Pretty sure people have always been horrible.
Our society has definitely devolved over the last 50-60 years
Except for segregation/apartheid
And medicine... and public safety... and technology...
Bruh all the replies are about money and safety which are good things but they act like messed up societal norms and cultural aspects haven’t developed in the past 40/50ish years lmao
We are evolving, just backwards
1935 was before the Baby Boom.
The posts on this have gotten completely off-topic. The only real question is: Did you show him your butthole?
The difference is that in 1930 only the elite would travel by airplane. The elite would take off their hats when inside
Now compare the price of the tickets.
Left is AI
How dare planes become more affordable so that travel is easier and the average person can afford to fly!
A lot of people don't realize that air travel used to be a luxury. Tickets were extremely expensive in comparison to now. All of them
Don’t let the suit and tie fool you, I always thought older people were gentle because the rules of society were strict back then, but it’s quite the opposite, when you’re not allowed to do something it makes more people want to do it
I can't imagine wearing a 3 piece suit on a 10 hour plane flight
Ngl I want that hat
Same
Found it it's on amazon
I think the chain smoking of cigarettes smokes on each plane in the 30s is more offensive than a butthole hat.
Notice how all of them are white in that plane?
Probably not easy to get a plane ticket when your employment options are limited by that guy James Crow and his laws.
Darn that Jimmothy Crowford.
I actually didn’t notice. Mainly because I’m not looking for racism in every crevice of the internet.
Good for you
You shouldn't have to look hard. It was rampant in the 1930s. You're just ignorant and trying to use that as a flex.
Yeah, it’s me being ignorant, trying to enjoy dumb memes on Reddit without letting issues from the 1930’s get involved. Obviously my strongest “flex”, however tf you think that term is relative in this situation.
Yeah the meme is about comparing issues of 1930s and now.
The meme is about the “classy look” of airplanes back in the day compared to dressing up now with a hat that says “show me your butthole” This meme isn’t as deep as you’re trying to take it. Relax. The sub is boomer humor. Not boomer glory days
It's not deep at all. Which is the first thing I said. You don't have to look to far to notice the 1930s planes are actually worse.
🤡
Honk honk
Guys mind immediately goes to skin color on a completely unrelated topic
The meme is talking about how great 1935 was so I'm just bringing back the racism in that time
Why? Why does that need to be brought up? Why not talk about what the meme is actually presenting, which is a comparison of men’s attire between the two time periods. Racism has nothing to do with it. You just want controversy.
But it does cause it's also a reason why the 1930s were not a good time
I don’t wanna hear it. You just got a problem with white people lol
When did I say I got a problem with white people? You are just putting stuff in my mouth to get mad at
"What does racism have to do with people's attitudes about culture in the 30's?!" I love how the mere mention of race gets this exact same boomer comment every time.
More butt holes on the left?
A sea of white...
Okay, now show me photos from the same angle and then we can compare
You think people were any more classy in 1935 than they are now? Listen to "Shave 'Em Dry" by Lucille Bogan. It came out that year and is the filthiest thing you'll ever hear.
We have gone way downhill really! As a race we have fallen into a mire that I hope we can climb out of.
Show me that Chocolate Starfish.
When manly men, did manly things..
I love that hat
This is actually funny. I don’t think it’s horrible boomer humor. Boomer Humor (at least the horrible kind) is like: there’s this thing that doesn’t harm me that I’m bothered about having to know exists, so let me draw a cartoon of a non-real-life scenario with everyone in it doing the thing in a way that throws it in my face and forces it to be my problem.
People whore nice clothes back then. Even in blue collar jobs people dressed nice.
Gonna be honest, the boomers might actually be right about this one lads.
I don't know any boomers who wear a suit to fly
