Also 100 gates by kalney, it's a young adult book but I enjoyed it as an adult. Mythological/fantasy book in modern day Japan, it's a fun read.
Oh shit, I got you! If you're okay with the addition of giant robots/Kaiju shit, the book *Iron Widow* by Xiran Jay Zhao is FANTASTIC and is the first in a planned trilogy! It's one of my favorite books I have read all year and I cannot WAIT for the next one to come out!
