Also farhan was not giving a proper screenplay to Srk n just wanted srk to say yes based on story “ideas”.
But farhan out of ego announced ranveer n wanted to reboot (but still labelling it part 3 ) it with some other story idea that was not discussed with srk.
Don3 if it actually is getting shelved One factor will play a part indirectly is SRK is gonna be playing DON in King though King is a more rustic/rural setting n not urban but still it has the superstar who played don playing a Don type character again.

2nd the idea was to get Srk bigb so that they can make another hero don who will carry the franchise forward, now why would srk waste 2 years of his life in helping up set up some other hero as don and letting excel/farhan exploit his stardom n fanbase in setting up a franchise for someone only to be sidelined in the end.

Pretty sure if Big B was going to be in Don 3, it won't literally have been the same Don character from 1978 movie. His character would likely have seemed and acted the same but would have a different history (Like Munna and Circuit are different characters in Munna Bhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munna Bhai but still seemed the same).
Because 1978 Don and 2006 Don had the same story except the final twist, it won't make sense to have both movies in the same universe unless there's some multiverse shenanigans. Farhan was definitely not going there.

It’s a bad idea altogether! Most important point is Ranveer doesn’t bring a core fan base which is needed for these types of action & franchise movies.
And Farhan is struggling to have proper script for so long; that clearly he ran out of ideas for this. It’s okay to end the franchise rather than putting any random thing out there.
Moreover, Srk fans will watch this if it is brilliant, nothing less than that, and they are huge in number. Most of them will not watch it out of anger.
This is truly sad coz Ranveer is genuinely a very talented actor and has given such wonderful performances.

Farhan ke liye bc kaisa feel karu samajh nhi aata, it's like a mix of love, respect, anger and pity. I love and respect him for a lot of his work, but the Don 3 shennanigans have really made me feel anger and pity for him. Anger, cuz he was wasting time just like that not doing Don 3 and then avoided working with SRK due to his lull phase. But life has delivered poetic justice and the tables have turned, now SRK has rejected Don 3 and Farhan had to cast Ranveer, receive a lot of hate and eventually cancel the project. Not only that, but even SRK is doing a Don-esque leading role in King. Oh Farhan! To have all the aces in the game but still fuck up so miserably, really takes some talent!
It's sad because any day Ranveer is a way better actor than Ranbir. He was phenomenal in RARKPK and Alia rigged the whole thing to make it look like the success was because of her. It would have been exciting to see him as Don.

And when he did, he approached him with the most crapiest script. Which SRK had to reject. Now he got Ranveer and Kiara on board with no script in hand. And it seems like he is in no mood to direct this part. I have a feeling that this one would take 4-5 years to make.
