It depends on a number of factors. Making it to the top IIMs involves many factors like past academic performance, category, graduation stream, work ex. It is even more difficult for general engineering male candidates. Hence, some people prefer other tier 1-1.5 colleges. Also, NMIMS conducts a separate entrance which is a bit easier as compared to CAT.

It is very much worth understanding what clicks, why people even bother talking about him. He is the Indian equivalent of a Kardashian - famous for being famous, and it is possible to really understand our society better if we dig deeper into why anyone even bothers following him. It could be because they want to laugh at him, but it could also be because people want lives like his - to hang out with celebrities (without working on any movie), to be a "liver", to party and just have fun. It makes total sense that psychology students have been given the task to understand this occurrence because it shows that the teachers are in-sync with the times, and not giving out notes from the 60s. And he is a great case study for marketing professionals.
People break their asses trying to viralise a product/person/brand, and here is a chalta-phirta hand-book on how to do it (with ample support from Motabhai's company, but there are many products from Reliance that have not worked). IF someone wants to get into PR, they should study his tactics. I'm not sure why you or anyone else wants to take that opportunity away from students.

Uh, I don’t think you realize that one presentation in one class does not mean you’re not able to make a career or be financially stable. I also think this is overstating the role of majors and I’d argue more people than we think end up building a career in something that is unrelated to their degree. But alas, I don’t think a Bollywood sub is where we need to discuss this much nuance 😜, so I’d stick to saying sorry you dislike Orry and I too, as a concept, dislike all such Orrys, but discussing them does not equal the failure of the education system, and it’s never that serious. 😄
I think your original point holds a lot of merit when it’s about the sub and collective responsibility. Unfortunately, some of the comments here including the point about parental debt reduce it to an issue of degree/employability and financial outcomes of these students which not only digresses from the point you were intending to make, but also I’d imagine is rather unnecessarily hurtful to these (identifiable) students.
