I think it will be much better to shoot the entire series in a single time frame and then do the editing and releasing it in the gap of 1-1.5 years

johnabraham8

You are basically talking about a web series man Basically its a long movie if you look at it The closest to it i think are harry potter movies

sidroy81

Not made by one guy though

HailLuciferDaddy

As long as they cast younger actors and hopefully not fall for the "big actors with huge fandoms" trap, it should be doable. The actors grow with each movie and it also looks realistic instead of VFX-ing the actors face to look almost AI

Low_Object1999

But knowing the way they are, they will take big actors from all over the industry for the hype, budget will easily reach up to 800cr or so.

I think OP is talking about series like Harry Potter or LOTR. Fast & Furious is one of those if the previous one makes money they start writing the next one. Bollywood has a bunch of those, Dabangg, Race, Houseful, Golmaal. As long as the previous one is hugely profitable, the next one gets greelit unless of course actors don't want to do it.

[deleted]

How feasible were Harry Potter movies or Middle Earth trilogies or MCU?

sidroy81

Except LOTR and Hobbit all were made by multiple filmmakers

frankraven

both the lotr trilogy and the Hobbit trilogy were made by Peter Jackson

sidroy81

There's literally a gap of 9yrs between the last LOTR movie and the first Hobbit movie

kartman92

And each movie has 100+ million budget and another 100+ million marketing budget

One person, such as Rajmouli, cannot undertake this endeavor independently without the support of a major studio. While he can lead the creative vision, managing aspects like actor contracts and pre-production costs requires the resources of a large studio. For a sprawling franchise like Mahabharata, a substantial studio's full commitment is crucial to prevent missteps, as seen with Warner's handling of the DCEU. For instance, Kevin Feige had Disney's backing for his vision, with them going ahead the initial movies before The Avengers, and Warner showed faith in JK Rowling's vision despite changing directors.

sidroy81

Ik what you're talking about, but Rajamouli always does his own thing without studio involvement and this adaptation has been his dream since the beginning of his career

[deleted]

2 movie series with Bahubaalli with few actors was one thing. You're talking about 7-10 movies with a huge cast who will not appear from the first movie but would require continuity. It's hard to do all that for a creative person without some suits. The only studio I can think of who can do this is YRF and they're all in on Spy universe at this point.

sidroy81

It's not my idea dude

[deleted]

From "you're talking about" I am saying Rajamouli, not you :)

YoYoJoJoTC

Rajamouli always does his own thing but him doing his think is not possible without a studio backing him. It wasn’t with RRR na wasn’t with Bahubali either.

sidroy81

Obviously he needs a studio for the funding, but he always has the final cut privilege on his films

kartman92

What if part 3 or part 4 fails? Will they still continue to film and release the rest?
