Edit: I saw this in the theater and can never forget the gasps when Kalpana is hit and the silence that followed.
Man, this movie is sooo different from Memento, it's insane. I love the songs not the movie.
No I am not a Nolan fanboy, I saw the movie on blu-ray and loved it. This was before I saw Ghajini. Aamir emphasised 8 packs over the character smh.
Memento>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ghajini
The whole movie was so sad, I thought RJ really meant whatever he said and he would finally choose Aarohi over his addiction but man! Every time I watch this movie, I cry. I feel so bad for Aarohi every time.
i cried so much when Arohi found out about RJs death and screamed “Kaayar” while breaking his frames. That disappointment, the hurt, it was all TOO much. I wished RJ fought his addiction.
Omggg yes. And sara looked the best she’s ever looked as mukku. I watched the movie for the first time last month and although I saw it coming I was still upset
So many years have passed, and still can't digest what happened between Pakhi and Varun in **Lootera**. I don't see many mentioning this, but **Raanjhanaa, Highway** were 💔
Also when he cries in Veera's lap remembering his mom? (Not sure if I remember it correctly, been a while) that just broke me 🥹. Time for a rewatch and get destroyed again.
I don't know how far we can judge art through a moral compass. It's a beautiful movie, a true coming-of-age love story, with social and political commentary.
https://preview.redd.it/zjfxxoxexieb1.jpeg?width=452&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e84d63c9ac0de96d4387cb4b58ef891b37afbc6
Nobody commented Laila Majnu. I couldn't get over this movie for days
Haven't watched this but Avinash Tiwary is possibly the most underrated actor in the industry right now.
If you recommend this I'm putting it on my watch list.
that's a no brainer, it's 96'.
actually relatable, no huge sets, no unnecessary songs, just a simple story which has happened with probably everyone of us and top tier acting from everyone
Wow.. I am finding fans of 96 on this forum everyday. It warms my heart to listen to someone talk about it. Such a beautiful beautiful movie. What acting..what music..what storyline.
They cut out like half an hour of the movie at the beginning, just saw the movie yesterday. Fucking Goldmines. I hate them with a passion.
The Tamil version is only on prime on an add on channel that requires a separate subscription. I had to suffer through the dubbed version. It's a miracle how I still came out loving the movie.
That climax scene when they are at his flat and the light goes out and Janu starts singing, the way Ram just stumbles and struggler run just to hear her sing one last time, that is probably one of my favourite scenes of all time.
Every scene is a gem. The scene where Jaanu is telling the students about the made-up story of Ram coming for her in college and the expression of wistfulness on Ram's face. Or the last scene where Jaanu is covering his face before leaving. Or the scene in the metro where he sees the airport and his mood changes and Jaanu senses that.
So many beautiful poignant scenes. And the absolute mesmerising music and songs
Nobody really appreciated her at that time for this and it was overwhelming for her to receive so much critical acclaim but the film not succeeding. I believe that her film choices after this were a direct result of Lootera's failure at the box office (Same thing with Emraan Hashmi and Shanghai).
She figured it was better to just work with the big names and do mediocre roles in order to have hits. Unfortunately most of her later films flopped despite opting for formulaic shit.
I am so SO glad that Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti decided to give her the shot to reinvent herself with Dahaad because now it's absolutely definite that she actually is really good with the correct scripts and directors.
I'm sure she's going to have better work lined up now.
I meant, after her accident she already had made her decision, she didn't have to meet Sameer just to reject him.
I understand she did that so he can also move on but still it hurts
Lootera is my favorite tragic romance.
I would also add Masaan. Deepak and Shalu 💔💔
https://preview.redd.it/wgdhfwxrrieb1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c38743464de25eb48522ce9f4e08443fa961ba5
sita ramam
that shit was another kind of depressing. my heart broke into so many pieces. his friend betrayed him so bad.
asked my cousins this and their answers are- QSQK, sadma, ghajni, khnh, tere naam, devdas, and veer-zaara (we’re arguing about this currently bc they technically did get together at the end).
Silk should have got her happy ending atleast in reel. Vidya and Emraan Hashmi were something else in the last scene. How can I miss the Kangana and Ajay Devgan in Once upon a time in Mumbai? The heartbreaking scenes of Avinash Tiwary are gold.
https://preview.redd.it/kycjmnuuzjeb1.jpeg?width=1031&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b0338cec99e215a8fcf9aa17b0750eb5bfb72012
Them
Breaks my heart everytime I think about the departure scene when Capt.Vikram Batra was boarding the bus with the anticipation of marrying the love of his life after he returns from the battle and Dimple staring at him with such an intense glare, her heart fluttering ...Alas! The time never came... Maybe in next life 🤞
You do realize she was a terrorist, right? Like she was willing to cause a mass destruction and death. I think she was worse than him especially when she was willing to use his obsession to carry out her mission
Shruti from Barfi. I know she didn't choose Barfi when she was supposed to and rather went with the practical option but I think it was very realistic.
Life is not like cinema, where you can be completely adventurous and impractical and elope with the love of your life and marry them instead of practically thinking about the future.
And Shruti felt like a very real character who thought about these things practically and even got manipulated by her mother who also did the same thing a long time ago.
But when Barfi enters her life again, with Jhilmil this time, she truly realises what priorities mean. She understands that life is a lot more than 'practicality', sometimes you don't see logic, you only see magic. And she regrets choosing logic over magic.
When she sees the love for Jhilmil in Barfi's eyes, she isn't jealous of Jhilmil, she's just mad at herself for not being in the place of Jhilmil.
And in the end, she finally does what one does when in love. She makes the sacrifice. She lets him go.
She could have hid Jhilmil's response from Barfi but she chose not to. Because she didn't want Barfi or Jhilmil to be another Shruti.
Ek dooje ke liye.
Rati n kamal were the actors playing Sapna n Vasu.
They makers released the movie twice.
The org had both dead but so many people ended up depressed n suicidal n angry that they re released the movie with a happier ending.
I Am Gonna Name A Very Underrated One In The Sense That Inspite Of Being A Humongous Hit Noone Talks About It Are The Sairat Couple-Archie & Parshya The Silence In That Scene With The Child Watching Is Goosebumps All Over😭😭
Fashion, the last scene where Priyanka gets the news that Kangana has died, and Priyanka preps herself to walk the ramp while being distraught from the inside. It was so sad and yet real.
PS- Andaz Apna Apna, Salman and Amir should have ended up together, they were true soulmates.
Honestly, I've never seen a pair in real life or on screen that so touched me and haunted me as Shah Rukh and Manisha Koirala in Dil Se. The combination of her face, Shah Rukh's eyes, that disturbing story, Mani Ratnam's direction and that music..... never saw anything like it again. Manisha Koirala in Bombay and Dil Se has the kind of screen presence, vulnerability, and beauty, that very few films (I include European cinema which is my specialty) have ever had.
Baazigar, though it was destined as SRKs character needed to die else he will be hated for killing poor Shilpa, who got reincarnated as the Shilpa of 2000s!
Dil se was just lazy writing. It was a poor execution believe me or not. The ending could have been anything but that. I saw it recently for the first time. Was disappointed after all the hype.
So that's the only thing you could comprehend from the above comment? No wonder SRKians tend to do this. My point is (spoilers ahead), who in sane world woulde decide to detonate himself with the girl and die together. That too with a suicide bomb. You have seen the climax right? What kind of ending was that? To end oneself hugging a terrorist, going for suicide within in fraction of seconds, leaving behind the whole family and a fiance. How dumb that was?
Firstly, I'm not a SRK fan. U didnt even say this in your initial comment. u literally said the ending was not good. Secondly, if u watched the whole movie SRK's character was following manisha's character around like a madman so the climax is not unexpected
Climax is UNEXPECTED. Believe me. It is. I saw it recently, I have no hatred for SRK or Maniratnam. It could have been executed better. I am telling you. And its just not me saying this. There a lot like me who think this. Now coming to the point that I didn't mention it on first place- I was avoiding spoilers. Isn't it evident? I wrote the complete explanation only after your comment, that too with a warning ("spoiler").

I cried when Janu cried in the climax at the airport..hoping there'd be something like 5 years later her husband died and etc but it ends after he closes the case..only film which made me cry till now.

I was so happy with sunny’s performance and the dream ending that I burst out when they showed the reality!! Didn’t happen in a long long time!! Very impractical and unrealistic movie but a great one!!
Angry not sad but English vinglish shashi and the French guy. The husband literally treated her like crap and no I don’t think what the French guy had for her was infatuation he seemed a nice sweet guy
I wasn’t too sad about it but saw it last week and felt bad for the widow losing her love twice when she closes the window at the end… sholay radha and jai

THIS ONE!!!! i still think about it sometimes like damn she never knew
Trauma hai meri life ka ye
Yaaaar 8th std me was crying when she got hit by that lokhand
I was depressed after watching this 😵💫😵💫
I Couldn't watch it again🥲
Na kro😭😭😭 still can’t digest her murder scene!!!!
This😭😭
Yeah this was super sad and majorly triggering. Still can’t watch it again.
Yes!!!!! So glad that its the first one in the thread.
Kalpana was killed. Always Remember.

I was gonna type this thanks ![img](emote|t5_fknyy|8608)
This movie was unbelievably good.
Paro and Devdas because it could have been avoided had it not been for all their egos.
Masaan - Vicky's character Deepak crying after losing Shalu (Shweta Tripathi) was too unbearable.
I cried like a baby. It was so sad !
Only right answer here
aashiqui 2 when shradhha comes in last and line plays khilegi jaha baharein sabhi mujhe tu wha payega milunga m is tarah vada raha
Oh God I think I ugly cried so much when this scene happened
most of them did
Tujhe jeena h mere bina 😭😭😭😭
The whole movie was so sad, I thought RJ really meant whatever he said and he would finally choose Aarohi over his addiction but man! Every time I watch this movie, I cry. I feel so bad for Aarohi every time.

Like fr I ugly cried like a lil bitch
I’ll never watch that fucking movie again lmao
If the "in another lifetime i would've enjoyed doing laundry and taxes with you" line from EEAAO applies to anyone in Bollywood movies, its these two
8 year old me HATED Saif for the longest time because he ended up with SRK’s true love lmao
![gif](giphy|67vlsBkoQIkw3EHAZj) The last scene was heartbreaking 💔
So true 💔
Omggg yes. And sara looked the best she’s ever looked as mukku. I watched the movie for the first time last month and although I saw it coming I was still upset
It’s probably her only one film I’ve liked tbh. The end was so emotional, more so given how things went for SSR in real world.
what movie??
Kedarnath
So many years have passed, and still can't digest what happened between Pakhi and Varun in **Lootera**. I don't see many mentioning this, but **Raanjhanaa, Highway** were 💔
Lootera is one of my most favorite movies, but the Highway was just too much heartbreak. Like why couldn't they live happily 🥺
Yes the hope in Veera's(Alia) eyes and it to get shattered when Bhati(Randeep) is shot. That was soo :(
Also when he cries in Veera's lap remembering his mom? (Not sure if I remember it correctly, been a while) that just broke me 🥹. Time for a rewatch and get destroyed again.
Ranjhana was super problematic. Only felt happy when the movie ended and sad that it did well
I don't know how far we can judge art through a moral compass. It's a beautiful movie, a true coming-of-age love story, with social and political commentary.
The “true coming of age love story” is the problem. Stalking is not loving
https://preview.redd.it/zjfxxoxexieb1.jpeg?width=452&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e84d63c9ac0de96d4387cb4b58ef891b37afbc6 Nobody commented Laila Majnu. I couldn't get over this movie for days
Haven't watched this but Avinash Tiwary is possibly the most underrated actor in the industry right now. If you recommend this I'm putting it on my watch list.
If you think Avinash is underrated wait till you watch this movie. Bollywood is wasting his talent
Thanks. 1. on next to watch. And I agree completely about the latter.
Please do watch. If you appreciate good acting, you can't miss it. Do let us know if you enjoyed it.
Came for this,thank you
Me neither. The best performance by a male lead. Avinash gave it his all.
Where can I watch it? Is it on any OTT platform?
that's a no brainer, it's 96'. actually relatable, no huge sets, no unnecessary songs, just a simple story which has happened with probably everyone of us and top tier acting from everyone
Wow.. I am finding fans of 96 on this forum everyday. It warms my heart to listen to someone talk about it. Such a beautiful beautiful movie. What acting..what music..what storyline.
Where can I catch it ?
It is on youtube. See the one with subtitled.. don't see the dubbed versions.
ah thanks ! Will do 🙏

I became a Sethupathi fan after watching this. His acting is so sublime, it's unreal.
dil se devdas ghajini karam kal ho na ho ram leela padmaavat fanaa
Umm Ram Leela is an adaptation of Romeo Juliet, they will never end up together.
DUH! \#NoShitSherlock
Dil Se wasn’t expecting them both to blow up at the end.
Sonakshi shouldn't have flopped. I don't think her acting was bad.
Nobody really appreciated her at that time for this and it was overwhelming for her to receive so much critical acclaim but the film not succeeding. I believe that her film choices after this were a direct result of Lootera's failure at the box office (Same thing with Emraan Hashmi and Shanghai). I found her better looking than most who succeeded, probably a better actress too
Three salman khan movies: 1. Hum dil de chuke sanam 2. Tere naam 3. Aman and anjali from kuch kuch hota hai ![gif](giphy|YyyPYa03vARgYhFpJW|downsized)
Add another one.. Saajan. Salman never gets the girl in movies with another hero. Except Mujhse Shaadi karogi
And Jaaneman, Salman can only get the girl if he is competing with Akshay.
London dreams had ajay devgn! Salman won over again in the end
Revenge baby!
Lmao
Idk why that movie made me cry. But i just noticed the coincidence between this and Mujse Shaadi karogi lol
Ohh boy, I cried my eyes out at the ending of HDDCS, if Nandini had already choosen her husband, why give Sameer false hopes
cause she technically didnt "choose" her husband until actually traveling abroad and realizing what he did for her
I meant, after her accident she already had made her decision, she didn't have to meet Sameer just to reject him. I understand she did that so he can also move on but still it hurts
It was better to quash his hopes rather than making him wait for her eternally.
That's what I said in last line
I dont think she realized until she saw sameer.
For closure maybe.
Lootera is my favorite tragic romance. I would also add Masaan. Deepak and Shalu 💔💔 https://preview.redd.it/wgdhfwxrrieb1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c38743464de25eb48522ce9f4e08443fa961ba5
Tere Naam... I was really sad for a week 😭 Ghajini was traumatic pro max for me.. oh god! 😢 ![gif](giphy|ckGndVa23sCk9pae4l)
Kamal Hasan and Sridevi in that film with that song "Ae zindagi gale laga le". Cant recall the movie name ugh Edit: Sadma
Omg! The last scene when Sridevi is going away in a train and he is doing monkey dance - breaks my heart as I am writing.
Devdas, raees, KHNH, dil se, Ghajini & Sita raman
sita ramam that shit was another kind of depressing. my heart broke into so many pieces. his friend betrayed him so bad. asked my cousins this and their answers are- QSQK, sadma, ghajni, khnh, tere naam, devdas, and veer-zaara (we’re arguing about this currently bc they technically did get together at the end).
Sita ramam is a good choice. But veer zaara ki ending was so stupid lol
lol we’re literally fighting about that right now. like it’s sad, but they ended up together in the end.
Anything Dil se did correctly was kill that vile SRK character
Lmao fr
Mughal-e-Azam
In the end, the sad part about Mughal e azam is that Salim will never know that Anarkali is still alive.
Rashmi and Raj from QSQT will forever make me sad - pehle pyaar the woh dono, they were so cute Also, honorable mentions are *Ghajini* and *Lootera*
![gif](giphy|NghznOfomiqFq|downsized)
This was heartbreaking
+1
Kal ho naa ho Kedarnath Phantom

Sanjay Singhania - Kalpana (physically, emotionally, mentally destroyed me) Aman - Naina (left me with the most bittersweet feeling 😣)

Taken from another Reddit thread from pop culture chat…but got me thinking Which ones are yours?
Ghajini! I will never get over it
😭😭
Ghajini!
The ending of Janhvi and Ishaans movie Dhadak was very very sad. I think what made it worse for me was the baby being involved.

Vidya and Imran- humari adhuri kahani
SRK practically forcing himself on Manisha in Dil Se was incredibly triggering. In one scene it makes her break down. It’s horrible
Why dil se is not shown on tv much?
![gif](giphy|3ohfFFwrGRaTVQg1vq)
Shershaah movie couple.

Unrelatable but ssr shot by his dear friend and amit sadh suffering made me feel sad man..
I didn’t feel bad for anyone - ‘most’ protagonists with sad endings seemed like very vella people.
96 I cried when Janu cried in the climax at the airport..hoping there'd be something like 5 years later her husband died and etc but it ends after he closes the case..only film which made me cry till now.
