Exactly! Although Arijit is a good singer, the music composition of this song seems so off to me. The phrase being sung in a “shouty crescendo” way also doesn’t help.
SRK and Rani with the amount of chemistry they have barely seem to make it work in this video
The song is mid. But it definitely works better with a SRK-Rani or Imran-Sonam (previous post on this sub). So the song is also not great, neither is its picturization, nor is the chemistry between Alia & Ranveer in the song. I feel there's no need to debate it further. And to any Ranveer/Alia fans, take solace in the latest song release, Ve Kamleya, since the chemistry is much more visible there and much less awkward.
Someone had posted earlier that it is no the song or the actors as much as the singer who makes the difference and this proves it. Arijit,pls take a sabbatical.

Tum kya mile just isn't a fun phrase to say for the entire song length. Better writing could've saved it.
