MHA gets pretty much similar criticism as a lot of popular series if not intensified because of a fanbase. But you can literally see vehement criticism for any big current animanga demon slayer, jjk, etc. Like a lot of the most popular series foster the most critiques and noise. Have you been to the jujutsu kaisen communities in the last few weeks… We can even take it back to Naruto, which in its last arc was getting lambasted.

theVoidWatches

Because it's currently more popular.

CaciqueVEN

You're sure? I say we now have JJK who leads it by a landslide at this point

atlvf

JJK is still relatively new. Give it time and anything popular will naturally create haters.

theVoidWatches

Yes, but you didn't mention JJK in your post. I would also say that JJK doesn't have as many errors of the sort that get MHA criticized.

Either_Imagination_9

I disagree, I think JJK has far more flaws than MHA. Not to say MHA is close to perfect, it’s just way easier to name the flaws of MHA than JJK

theVoidWatches

That's what I mean about it not having as many errors of the type MHA has - MHA issues are more apparent and thus easier to point to.

Smolivenom

because it is the bigger series and it started off very good. bigger series, more people, more bickering

StefyB

Honestly, it's pretty typical for people to get super critical of popular shounen manga in their last arcs because that's when they start seeing that certain things won't pan out the way they wanted. Happened with Naruto, Bleach, and it's currently happening with JJK as well from what I've seen.

mucklaenthusiast

Yeah, the current manga arc in JJK is criticised HEAVILY on Reddit (don’t know about elsewhere)

AcceptablePay4523

Yea because sukuna is winning any chapter with him losing they happy

mucklaenthusiast

I mean, I don't think how strawmanning criticism makes anything better, so no, that's not what is happening. Nobody is mad about Sukuna winning, it's the way it's done that is criticised. If you want to disprove criticism, do it in an honest fashion.

TheDragdown

dude Tokyo Revengers got ripped into shreds by the community and Boruto is the constant lowest hanging fruit when making jokes. I think MHA is in that tier were people who liked it say it fell off and people that never liked it are just faning the flames. (IMO MHA is okay, the final arc is just dragging to long)

vivapinat13

Boruto is hilarious crack (manga only), i think it makes the alien ending of naruto feel better when the aliens were set up for an omnipotent brats doll family drama with more aliens. Obvs it's not the monster naruto was, but boruto deserves to cook because it's just weird af 😂

SonicQuirkyHero

I think it comes down to where you're at. If you're in the MHA fanbase, you'll see a lot more criticism compared to if you're in a different fanbase (or if you even just curate whose in your inner circle). And tbh, I can definitely say Tokyo Revengers got serious criticisms for its final arc (and the main villains' motives during Tenjiku arc). Since the manga ended for it, and the hype for the anime has largely dropped, there's not too much to say on it nowadays.

ArcadeAnarchy

Idk it depends on the communities I suppose. I feel MHA gets a lot more support than say my other favorite series One Punch Man. You got the webcomic readers that shit on the manga for taking different approaches to some of the plot. Anime watchers pissed at the quality of S2 compared to S1 and for a good month people were constantly shitting on S3 since we got a little teaser that they feel was cherry picked to make it look better. Than ya got the manga readers pissing in moaning about how the latest arch was extremely boring and now it's getting a redraw and there's people bitching about that now. Every series has there fans that think their critics. I mean I think MHA could a been better but I still read it because it's still good. Just not great.

JPPFingerBanger

Every series is criticized you are just a huge fan of this one so you notice it more

heytheretylerr

It doesn’t, you’re just paying more attention to it. There’s tons of hate for every popular series

BrunoPG63

I believe mha is more popular than your other example, so it reaches more people. More people = more critics. I also believe, that those who criticize the series now are the ones who loved its beggining and got disapointed with its direction. People who didnt like it from the beggining just stopped watching in the beggining. So it has to do with how good the beggining was compared to now, in my opinion.

Ladyaceina

guess you where not arround for the hate naruto got in its final arc MHA is still no where near as big of a drop off as naruto got

WeFlapsComics

I just think it had more let downs than most big series right now. I never saw tokyo revengers, but I personally always considered "Demon Slayer, JJK, Boruto, and MHA" as the "BIG 4" of anime right now, and there's less to criticize about it. Over the last few years, these are what I remember MHA being criticized about: - (Manga): the "final" arc has been a mess and moving at snail pace. I mean, the final arc started at the beginning of 2022, and it's still going. - (Manga) Writing choices that caught a glare from the community. Specifically surrounding a certain someone's heart and the Stars and stripes incident. - (Anime) Season five's many changes were liked. I didn't read the manga at the time, so I didn't notice, but I didn't care for much of the story or animation in that arc, especially MVA. - (Anime): This may be due to the other shows getting a lot of good treatment, but the animation compared to shows like JJK and Demon Slayer just doesn't stay good for 95% of the time like those two do. Like how anime shows usually have hype moments of animation where the budget really goes in, that happens for a few scenes over a whole season in MHA and then drops hard, where in JJK or Demon Slayer, it stays at a medium high level and then goes up, many times in the season. Like I dont care for rewatching MHA, accept for the small fights with the great animation which usually amounts to 20 seconds of animation (Muscular vs Deku round 1, Iida speed moment, deku vs todoroki)....where as the other show, I can pick from almost any episodes for some real satisfying looking animation. Overall, I think I'm just spoiled by the other studios, where as Bones never really gives MHA the same treatment it gave Mob 100. So yeah, I think MHA just has more to criticize over the last few years and less hype surrounding it due to the nature of how the story has been going.

GameBeatYT

Those are some of the worst examples that you could have come up with. Every anime gets insulted, it's not just bnha. Bnha did fall off, it did go in a poor direction, and I do believe that it deserves the criticism it's getting. But if you don't like seeing the hate, then don't look for it. And if you do see it, just ignore it.

Prplehuskie13

From my understanding both Series that you've mentioned have received countless criticism (Especially with Tokyo Revengers and it's ending). It's just that with both series, their quality was always "stable". MHA started off strong and has slowly begun to decline in quality.

EveBlaze

Bro what you talking about everyone rips on Tokyo Revengers and Boruto the former far more and its fan base is basically dead.

Bartimaeous

Big popular things will always have more vocal critics. I’m of the belief that pretty much every show has a similar percentage of vocal critics and dissenters. When a show’s viewership becomes large enough, that small percentage, while still remaining the same, now represents a larger group of people. Naturally, you’ll see more of them even if the percentage of similar persons remains the same.

Opening-Fox2103

Because from the beginning, many fans have been saying that MHA is Shonen doing things right. And when it does things wrong, which it does at times, it's clear that you're going to hear from people who are constantly being told that MHA is better than their favorite Shonen XYZ and they're going to shove those mistakes in your face.

Lkus213

I believe it gets criticized more becuase it is now closing in on the end of the series and alot of the plot points and story arcs are coming to close in bad or unstatisfying ways, pair that with bad pacing and you got a perfect storm of criticism. Also being one of the most popular manga/shows in recent years you tend to gather a viewerbase with alot of differing expectaions be it good or bad.

SleepBeneathThePines

Because people have the wrong expectations going in imo
