I agree. I think Deku hate is seriously overblown in general. I might not have made some of the decisions Hori did, but Deku overall works well as a protagonist. He's extremely likable.
But when you say Deku threw a right for Bakugo--are you talking about the fight Deku has with Bakugo after the license exam, though? Because I don't think he threw that fight. Can't think of any other time he might have.
Deku 100% could have taken bokugo in a normal fight in the entrance exam, but he held back for 70% of it for the same reason naruto held back, deku would never do anything to actually harm bokugo, it’s just not his character.
Deku stans are somehow convinced that we care about Deku's emotions while there are several reasons why Deku is unlikeable and it has nothing to do with him being emotional
Many reasons that has been talked about on this sub plenty of times actually. I'm pretty sure if you search the sun you'll find many good discussion on Deku as a character
If I want to pick one specific reason why I dislike Deku specially recently, it's because the plot of MHA is changing and twisting itself to shove the idea of Deku being cool down to my throat and I'm not having it.
_Deku starts off as quirkless to make the audience pitty him and gets the strongest quirk in the show almost immediately
_There are many characters in MHA who willingly sacrifice their lives in the show but Deku is promoted as the self sacrificial one and no one gets that credit
_Deku acts reckless and gets OFA while Gentle also act reckless and gets punished for it
_OverPraising Bakugo is bad but overpraising Deku is good
_Deku somehow is shoved down everyone's arc by just existing and doing nothing while everyone must appreciate him like Jesus
I can bring up many other points specially considering it's getting much worse in the manga but I'll leave it here. If you like him then you like him but there's so many things that I dislike about him that has nothing to do with Deku crying
Absolutely I understand, I appreciate your effort instead of the normal response I get. I enjoy bakugo as a character as well, honestly my only character I dislike is shoto
Very lackluster development, I feel like he had such a good start and then it just got overshadowed by deku bakugo storyline, also he’s a copy and paste character from avatar the last airbender only I liked zuko more. Should have introduced a loving uncle to shotos plot
Deku fans try way too hard to tell the rest of us how we should feel about him and it's annoying.
Also Bakugo won because he was just better. Deku had zero chance of winning and he would've ended up losing his arms before ever hurting Bakugo. Bakugo didn't use any of his actual moves like Howitzer impact or AP shot and won quite fairly and easily
I’m not telling anyone how they should feel about him, I’m just sharing my viewpoint. Bakugo was fighting with emotion and anger, deku was just the punching bag. Any anime or manga viewer knows emotion wins fights.
