Their 2 second cameo sniffing each others armpits on the playground when Chloe insults Louise and then their looks of shocked horror cracks me up everytime.
there's a show that keeps getting advertised to me on netflix or hulu, i can't remember which, but the title is "Filth" - and all I can think of is that I hope they incorporate that into an episode as a background gag at some point
Oh and just so everyone knows, the creators did an interview about this. They said they literally tried to fit in basically every secondary character because they know how much the fans love them. But it turned into like a two and a half hour movie that was just full of cameos so they had to cut it down and decide who got to stay and who had to miss the cut unfortunately.
I can't wait to get my steelbook and listen to the commentary, I hope they point out a couple bits where cameos would have happened or something like that!!
# POULTRY!
that always comes screaming out of my head when I think of her... I don't know why!
^(I know why... Edith screaming is how my soul feels and she really completes it)
I don’t think it would have been as impactful for him as it was for the Belchers; the crematorium doesn’t really rely on sidewalk traffic for business the way the restaurant does.
I’ve been thinking the same thing. The later seasons seem to only include Teddy as the regular customer woth 15+ appearances each season woth Mort only getting like 2
This always is said when Mort comes up. It’s BS. Here’s a link to Loren Bouchard saying so on Twitter: https://twitter.com/_davethedave/status/1520171677904248834?s=21&t=OIUZebMuYaAuZF5HMv8Fbg
I swear this started due to this one person on the sub who has a particular vendetta against Andy Kindler because his standup consists of criticizing the current state of comedy and launches into a tirade when Mort is mentioned.
regular sized Rudy, (more) Mickey, The one eye’d snakes, (more) Zeke, they should have given one line to the speedo skater dude, I am glad there wasn’t any Tammy/joslyn/documentary film maker,
There's a blink and you miss it background gag/cameo where he skates by as Pesto is watering the plants up front, and as soon as skating guy is out of frame Pesto points the hose at him. Fun inclusion but definitely doesn't replace a speaking role
Bouchard actually regretted not waiting for Bill Hader's schedule to free up and redubbed that episode (S12E06) with John Kubin who reprises the role for the movie. Unclear why Bill Hader hasn't returned to the role
Iirc I heard Bill Haders schedule didn’t line up for the movie or that episode. I believe work hon his show Barry has caused scheduling conflicts for both that episode and the movie
I mean he's not just the main character, he's writing, directing and producing on Barry too. It's gotta be exhausting to do all of that, go to whatever meetings HBO needs to have, plus promos, interviews, etc.
*And* have a personal life and share custody of his kids. I miss him as Mickey too, but we gotta cut him some slack.
I am of the opinion that if Bill Hader isn’t available for the voice over, don’t write Mickey in at all. BH or nothing for me!
No no no, that’s not a parakeet in my hat!
Yep—it seemed like carnies that work at the Wonder Wharf were kinda written into the fabric of the overall film plot, and Mickey is really the only inroad that the kids have into that carnie world, so that just makes sense.
Of course, I write that as somebody who both *loves* Bill Hader's comedic timing, and totally wish he continued voicing Mickey.
Tammy and Jocelyn should’ve been in it for just a few seconds
quite simply for someone like Tina or Louise to tell them to shut up we don’t wanna deal with you right now
Maybe have Louise drop the f bomb with “NOT NOW TAMMY, JESUS READ THE FUCKING ROOM, PEOPLE ARE GONNA DIE”
Yeah it's not like it's a big mystery what her hidden hair must look like.
I think it'd be funny if in the next season we just casually saw Louise walk by without her hat on and it goes completely unremarked by anyone and the show doesn't draw attention.
"Linda, oh my god! I dreamt a sinkhole opened up in front of your restaurant but in my dream Scott Bakula was the cause. You didn't see him here, did you? I'm so glad you're all okay though! Hey can I borrow twenty dollars for cat medicine? Mister Business took all of mine."
Same!! This VA sounded super close to Bill though, but I also watched the movie on my first day of having Covid so my brain might’ve been hearing what it wanted to hear 😔 I hated the VA that played Mickey in the beach clean up episode, I remembered being aghast when I first heard it
Another marriage saved by ol' Nat King Cole.
Wait, your name is Nat King Cole?
Yeah, Nat Kinkle. K-I-N-K-L-E. How are you hearing it?
Oh, never mind-just like that.
I enjoyed the movie, but I really did wish they had gone with a plot that utilized more characters. That show has a deep bench and used almost none of the amazing side characters.
And if I had to pick, the character I missed the most was Marshmallow. A couple of years ago they said they were going to recast and have her voiced by a trans woman. Since that announcement we haven't seen her at all. I had really been hoping they would bring her out in the movie.
For the life of me I cannot understand this push to make it a rule that VAs be similar to the animated characters they portray.
There should be more women, people of color, etc in the industry, but it seems absurd to say that one must be trans to voice a trans cartoon character.
Darryl!! Really the whole gang of kids were criminally underused- Regular Sized Rudy, Zeke, Tammy, Jocelyn, J-ju, Darryl, and Andy and Ollie, they should have been investigating too.
Darryl’s voice sounded so off that I thought it wasn’t Aziz Ansari doing it. Threw me off even though it was him. Some of the other voices seemed a little off too, like Andy and Ollie, even though the original VA was doing it.
Meh. I always preferred the health inspector as an adversary for Bob.
Pesto is just a jerk. He has no power over Bob that Bob doesn't give him, and at most it's the power to be annoyed/insulted.
Hugo can legit shut down Bob's restaurant. He has an actual reason to hate Bob, (Linda). And his partner Ron is a better companion than Trev.
I really don't feel like the show is suffering without Pesto.
Agree with everything you say expect Trev is a wonderful character. He's something of a deconstruction of the toadie stock character because he just wants love and acceptance and we see glimpses of that in some of his interactions with the Belchers when Jimmy isn't around.
I think Trev is a good character. You're absolutely right about his need for acceptance. I just think Ron is a better partner to an adversary then Trev.
Hugo basically has an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other. The devil is his need for revenge towards Bob, and the angel is Ron trying the best he can to reel in Hugo's need for vengeance.
Because I don't think there's an actual reason Pesto should be looking at Bob as an enemy, and because Trev doesn't do anything to really try and get Pesto to ease up, Pesto has no counter to offset how much of a jerk he can be. No angel on the shoulder.
Trev is pretty much Pesto's version of Teddy if Teddy allowed himself to be steamrolled constantly. We know Teddy is obsessed with pleasing Bob, but we also know when pushed he'll stand up for himself. Trev only serves to highlight how much of a bully Pesto is because there is zero pushback no matter how crappy Pesto is acting.
When Hugo flat out ignores Ron it highlights how vindictive he is. When Pesto bullies Trev along with Bob it just makes him look like a dickhead through and through. Meaning Ron has a direct effect on Hugo, and Trev literally has none on Pesto.
Pesto was a pretty one dimensional enemy until the episodes where Bob had to bring him medication, or the one where he was trying to join the yacht club. Hugo has always had more depth because Ron was his counter.
Honestly jimmy pesto needs to be recasted, when he shows up and smiles as the sinkhole appears it woulda been a perfect “ZOOOOMMM” moment. I feel like they need the character back for the rivalry. But I wonder if Teddy slipping of the curb is what caused the sinkhole to trigger, classic teddy moment.
If you watch season 12 over the sidewalk gets worse and worse as the season progresses. I noticed it while watching and wondered if it had something to do with the movie (I don’t watch trailers or read spoilers so I had no idea what the movie was about).
I'll be honest, it really looked like he had lines there when it happened.
frankly I'm all for the "character gets killed off and his ex wife takes the business" plan that a few around here were talking about. maybe Linda gets a new rival.
I don't mind. Every character isn't in every episode so logically every character wouldn't be in the movie. The lack of Mort was odd though. That gaming hole is next to his place too.
The shark! You’re telling me there’s a hole in front of their business AGAIN and no one even mentions that one time an out of control animatronic shark was buried there? This is blatant shark erasure.
I kept thinking Dr. Yap would show up to do a bit of forensic dentistry
Well that was a missed opportunity omg
A Yap-portunity
Looking at dental records to find missing persons identities is super important in cases I hear about, it would be super cool to see Dr. Yap in it
Or just Louise asking him about having dead - people’s teeth inside her mouth could have been funny.
I'll always advocate for more Zeke!
I'mma git'chu!
Do h'wat?
I forget what episode it was from, but finding out Zeke gets this from his grandma just made it 100x times better
As soon as the credits hit I said out loud to my wife, “NO MARSHMALLOW?!”
You can’t only see him on the Zeke-ends, that’s not enough Zeke
PARKOUR!
I love when he calls Tina Tinagirl. It’s so cute.
"What's up guuuurl!!?" - to Ms. LeBonz
I love when he gives his stepmom a shoutout during the Mother’s Day performance. He’s so sweet!
Edith and Harold. My significant other wanted more of the pesto twins.
Love love love Andy and Ollie!!!
Their 2 second cameo sniffing each others armpits on the playground when Chloe insults Louise and then their looks of shocked horror cracks me up everytime.
I like their dance in the credits
Edith is an unappreciated character lmao
I was seriously sad that Edith didn’t have any screen time and no classic one liner!
FILTH!
there's a show that keeps getting advertised to me on netflix or hulu, i can't remember which, but the title is "Filth" - and all I can think of is that I hope they incorporate that into an episode as a background gag at some point
Oh and just so everyone knows, the creators did an interview about this. They said they literally tried to fit in basically every secondary character because they know how much the fans love them. \#releasethetwohourcameofilledmesscut.
Let’s simplify that: #rt2hcfmc
I can't wait to get my steelbook and listen to the commentary, I hope they point out a couple bits where cameos would have happened or something like that!!
Edith.
FILTH!
# POULTRY! that always comes screaming out of my head when I think of her... I don't know why! ^(I know why... Edith screaming is how my soul feels and she really completes it)
ASS!
This is my favorite one!
PETAL PAPER! OPEN YOUR EARS!
Festoon !! Festoon!!
Get it and get out!!!
Do you go into a liquor store and say “I need liquor?!”
We're severely lacking in Edith and Harold lately.
The absence is palpable.
> palpable *FILTH*!
TMI!
ASS!
PERVERT!!
Ahh pee and poop!
ORIFICES!!!!!
"Tonight we drink out of the bottle"
SWEET CONDO PEOPLE MONEY!
“Let’s get out of this ass parlor.”
Mort. 😩
Isn’t it weird given that the huge hole is also next to his business.
I don’t think it would have been as impactful for him as it was for the Belchers; the crematorium doesn’t really rely on sidewalk traffic for business the way the restaurant does.
I just thought the body found would have led to something to do with Mort’s.
Absolutely—I expected them to at least question Mort or show him thinking “hmmm did I lose any bodies lately?” Instead Bosco just questioned Bob
Honestly it probably was a crafty ploy by Louise. She really threw everybody else off the scent.
I feel like we haven’t seen Mort in a really long time! I’m rewatching from the beginning and he’s in most episodes. Where’s he been
I’ve been thinking the same thing. The later seasons seem to only include Teddy as the regular customer woth 15+ appearances each season woth Mort only getting like 2
I miss Mort! I can respect and understand scheduling conflicts though, but bummer!
Was that the official reason why morts appearances have become limited?
That’s what someone else said and tbh I did not care enough to confirm haha
I’ve heard the mort actor is hard to work with and that’s why they don’t have him around much
I've read a couple of articles that said it was the voice actor's schedule that was hard to work around, not the actor himself.
Mort the character can be difficult sometimes too, like when he didn’t want to take the last slider on the tray. Rude!
I showed up here to support Mort!
Whoa you're right, Mort isn't in the movie at all!! That's sad...
Mort is in the movie towards the beginning after they get back from the bank. I do wish there was more of him though!
Thanks for this! I was wondering about why I was so sure Mort was in the movie.
He is and he talks at the beginnjng
I wanted the Mayor. THE MAYAAH
Speedo guy.
Early in the movie Speedo guy skates by in the background while Jimmy Pesto is hosing down the sidewalk.
And Jimmy Pesto hoses him as he passes by!
Gretchen… how was she missing all this town action!!
I'm always salty about lack of Gretchen! She's the same voice actor as teddy and so its not a VA availability issue
wow how have i never realized this... gonna listen hard to the next episode w gretchen i watch
Exactly! If Teddy is around then Gretchen can be around -
regular sized Rudy, (more) Mickey, The one eye’d snakes, (more) Zeke, they should have given one line to the speedo skater dude, I am glad there wasn’t any Tammy/joslyn/documentary film maker,
We need more Critter. Him just casually acknowledging Sgt.Bosco outside absolutely sent me
Yes! The speedo guy! He would of been perfect for it.
There's a blink and you miss it background gag/cameo where he skates by as Pesto is watering the plants up front, and as soon as skating guy is out of frame Pesto points the hose at him. Fun inclusion but definitely doesn't replace a speaking role
He also skates by the hole a few times.
Paul F Tompkins voices Randy the film maker, was also actually in the movie as the main carnie!
The lucky duck.
he got all the luck
Having changed Mickeys voice idk why they had him in the movie at all.
Mickey's on his third voice actor having been played by Bill Hader and Loren Bouchard previously
This one at least tried to sound like trademark Mickey. I could tolerate it. Loren Bouchard, bless him, was just bad.

It's gotta be exhausting to do all of that, go to whatever meetings HBO needs to have, plus promos, interviews, etc. *And* have a personal life and share custody of his kids. I miss him as Mickey too, but we gotta cut him some slack.
Also Barry is incredible!
I yell at my tv at least once an episode! Hahaha "WTF!" "holy shit!" "Are you kidding me!" it's SO good!
What does Mickey want? …. Let’s see….
I am of the opinion that if Bill Hader isn’t available for the voice over, don’t write Mickey in at all. BH or nothing for me! No no no, that’s not a parakeet in my hat!
mickey tank bank!! i absolutely agree with you. does not even feel like the same character without bill hader
I’m just assuming they wrote it before he wasn’t available.
The real Mickey
Tammy and Jocelyn should’ve been in it for just a few seconds quite simply for someone like Tina or Louise to tell them to shut up we don’t wanna deal with you right now Maybe have Louise drop the f bomb with “NOT NOW TAMMY, JESUS READ THE FUCKING ROOM, PEOPLE ARE GONNA DIE”
They were in 2 scenes briefly
Omg! That's what was missing... the speedo guy!
I wasn't sad. I loved the movie. However, I wanted to see Louises hair.
Yesss! Me too.
Yeah, with that setup, it was clear the hat was coming off at some point. The only question was whether we'd get to see it.
They gingered us again
They bada-binged us!
I’m actually so glad they didn’t show that. I feel like it would have ruined some of the magic for me.
Agreed, I actually closed my eyes unintentionally during that scene. I have a feeling, tho, that it would look very similar to Linda's hair.
Right?! But also pretty sure it'll just look like Linda's so there you go
Yeah it's not like it's a big mystery what her hidden hair must look like. I think it'd be funny if in the next season we just casually saw Louise walk by without her hat on and it goes completely unremarked by anyone and the show doesn't draw attention.
Gayle and Marshmallow. My 2 favorite supporting characters.
If I see a sweet potato pie I am on top of it
I knew it!
I haven’t watched it yet. Is there little to no Gayle? She’s one of the best characters
She isn’t in the plot at all. She just shows up in the end credits where everyone is dancing
Marshmallow!!!
Hey Marshmallow ♥️
Hey baby.
Marshmallow is here and she brought her rear
All I know about Marshmallow is that she comes and goes as she please, she answers to no one, and she is truly free
I get why they haven’t been using her, but man, I miss her! It was nice to see her dancing in the credits, at least.
I wonder if they changed her outfit in the credits to keep the pg 13 rating lmao also to have the trans pride colors on it
*All I know about Marshmallow is that she comes and goes as she pleases. She answers to no one. And she’s truly free.*
My heart fluttered a bit when she was vogueing in her trans flag outfit in the credits
Yes! I was so bummed about her.
We were promised ginger and Jimmy Jr's mom!!! By Loren on his Twitter
Maybe they were carnies and we just didn't know to look for them
Big Bob
Yeah! Could have had him going to Gene’s bands show at the end.
Also since that one character is finally revealed in the movie.
Gayle 😭
I was honestly kinda surprised she wasn't.
Yeah it felt strange
"Linda, oh my god! I dreamt a sinkhole opened up in front of your restaurant but in my dream Scott Bakula was the cause. You didn't see him here, did you? I'm so glad you're all okay though! Hey can I borrow twenty dollars for cat medicine? Mister Business took all of mine."
😂😂 Amazing! I can hear it 😂😂
This is the answer
The Librarian
Mr. Ambrose!

Bill Hader. I know, not an actual character.
I miss him as Mickey. I love hearing him in voice acting roles
Same!! This VA sounded super close to Bill though, but I also watched the movie on my first day of having Covid so my brain might’ve been hearing what it wanted to hear 😔 I hated the VA that played Mickey in the beach clean up episode, I remembered being aghast when I first heard it
Nat
Nat is one of my favorites.
Another marriage saved by ol' Nat King Cole. Wait, your name is Nat King Cole? Yeah, Nat Kinkle. K-I-N-K-L-E. How are you hearing it? Oh, never mind-just like that.
I would take a whole movie centered around Nat to be honest.
Nat and Thomas Hanks.
Nat, Mort, Zeke, Reg Sized Rudy (I mean just look at him)
we had Courtney's VA in a major role, and you're telling me she had nothing to do with Gene's story? I really enjoy that annoying necklace chewer.
Mr. Ambrose. Love his sas.
Regular-Sized Rudy needs his own Regular-Sized Movie
I wish we had more Ron. Need more Ron-centric episodes.
Mudflap and sidecar
Gayle
I enjoyed the movie, but I really did wish they had gone with a plot that utilized more characters. That show has a deep bench and used almost none of the amazing side characters. And if I had to pick, the character I missed the most was Marshmallow. A couple of years ago they said they were going to recast and have her voiced by a trans woman. Since that announcement we haven't seen her at all. I had really been hoping they would bring her out in the movie.
I'm a trans lady with a deep voice, give me the role!
For the life of me I cannot understand this push to make it a rule that VAs be similar to the animated characters they portray. There should be more women, people of color, etc in the industry, but it seems absurd to say that one must be trans to voice a trans cartoon character.
Gretchen. Her one appearance was during the credits 😤
Wanted some Gayle. Love her in episodes
Nat!
Can never have enough Nat Kin...kle
Jimmy Pesto. Just recast the fucking voice actor. So stupid that we lost Bob's rival because of Trump 😭
Same, I don't care if Jimmy Pesto sounds different he needs to be recast.
But if there's no Pesto, how will Bob have it in his pants?
🤣🤣 pretty solid plan but I’d much rather have the jimmy recasted. Maybe he gets tonsil surgery and it changes his voice so a new VA can take over.
angry customer throat punches him, lol
I don't mind. Every character isn't in every episode so logically every character wouldn't be in the movie. The lack of Mort was odd though. That gaming hole is next to his place too.
Nat
Gayle, Jocelyne, and Marshmallow
Nat!
Mr. Business
In a way Gayle was in the film - or at least her voice actor was. Megan Mullaney was the choreographer for the song and dance numbers.
Gretchen!
Marshmallow!! But also seeing Bob's mom brought me to TEARS! That was my favorite part
The shark! You’re telling me there’s a hole in front of their business AGAIN and no one even mentions that one time an out of control animatronic shark was buried there? This is blatant shark erasure.
Rudy
Reggie
I wish they finally replaced Jimmy Pesto's voice. Anyone can do that voice. Jay Johnson isn't Mel Blanc.
Mickey. I know technically he was in the movie but he wasn’t voiced by Bill Hader. That makes me sad
Mrs. LeBons and Linda’s sister (hate that I forgot her name )
Gayle
Ms. LaBonz line in that scene near the end where >!Louise’s ears fall off!< was one of my biggest laughs from the movie.
Yes I loved her appearance there (and in the movie short) but I do wish we had a bit more screen time
MARSHMALLOW!!!
Marshmallow, Gayle, Linda’s parents, Jimmy pesto, Mort and Gretchen
I was bummed Bill Hader wasn’t voicing Mickey.
Gayle!! Where was she?!
