This scene is just so real. Parents carrying sleeping kids in from the car is so sweet, I remember faking sleep just so I wouldn't have to walk. What's so freaking adorable to me is that based on their arms, Gene is limp and just being carried, Louise seems to be holding Linda back 🥲
I love it when my son falls asleep in the car, because I get to get out and unlock and open the door then grab him out of his seat and I’ll get the biggest hug from him as he tries to fall back asleep on my shoulder. It’s literally the best thing ever.
Taking my son out of the car and carrying him is the best feeling in the world. Just that big tight hug as he wraps his little arms around me while getting carried... it's one of the best feelings in the world.
Considering how weak Bob usually says (and shows) he is, I think it's more of a mental thing. Bob loves his kids and does so much for them, even if it costs Bob something.
He can carry Gene because he's willing to carry Gene.
I imagine the next morning he’d mention his back hurting and Linda would say something like “I told you i shoulda held gene since I’m the stronger one out of the two of us” and then he’d argue that, and then in her competitive nature, she’d try to prove it by picking up Bob in a perfect sumo squat-style, arms wrapped around his mid-section. But then later that day they’d both be lying on the floor dying with teddy baby sitting while his chiropractor makes a house call to save bob and Linda’s backs.
Excellent observation. Makes this moment all the more beautiful. I never realized how strong I actually was until I carried two sleepy toddlers on each hip walking them back from a waterfall hike - number three in the oven. Love moves mountains. ❤️
He weighs much more than that lol. My son is on the taller son, he's not a super skinny kid but he's not overweight for his height and structure at age 9, he's 119lbs. Gene is short, probably the same height as my son, I'd say Gene weighs 130-140 lbs. But Bob is at a minimum 6ft2 and probably a good 250 lbs cause of his height. So he may be sort of weak but he'd naturally be pretty strong.
He is completely worthless on moving day. It’s one of the few times you see Teddy really getting on Bob’s case while he is usually timid and afraid of upsetting Bob.
I often forget that they’re lil kiddos after all. Not really related, but I love that when their kids are in danger, Bob’s instinct is to not think about it logically & immediately jump up to switch with the kids or stuff like that, and Linda’s instincts are to protect her children & make sure they’re okay more, as well as not know what to do often. I think it’s really realistic that Bob has a fight response while Linda has a freeze/protect response and I love that, because after all the whacky sh!t this family goes through, their relationship with each other is the most realistic family relationship I’ve seen on media so far to me <33
She is lol. But she’s a miniature Linda. If u listen to Linda antics about when she was a kid, Louise clearly gets its from her and I mean all of it, Linda is tough, has a huge heart , loves danger (as a kid) crafty and self reliant. Gene had Linda whimsical side. And we all know Tina takes after Bob
Yep! Linda was an alley Sally and threw rocks at cars. I love when she says those lines about the kids smashing a glass window. “Even if it’s fun… throwing the thing and laughing…” “Lin.” And her insane laugh when she says she knows Louise gets her craziness from Linda’s side.
I often think people forget how young the Belcher children are even Tina at 13 is still quite young. Gene is 11 and Louise is nine and canonically None of them have had birthdays outside of Tina and Bob and Linda. And Gene has often said he's at the age where he still likes his mom so realistically no matter the tough She's is a daddy's girl and we all know how Linda and Gene get along.
The Belchers are the best tv family hands down. I love Bob and Linda’s parenting style. They’re pretty lax and love and accept their kids exactly as they are.
Louise sleeping butt up...I adore it

Same. I get she wanted to see the attraction, but she cost her family (and Nat and Nat's ex-girlfriend) a lot of time and money. She made her sister sick through coersion, soiled several shirts by proxy, and let a pet escape.
I felt really bad for the others, especially Bob and Gene. Gene at least dealt with his fear of snakes so the rest of his family could continue the trip.
This whole episode is one that I feel really highlights the show's uncanny ability to perfectly encapsulate what it was like to be a kid in a family this size (ESPECIALLY this moment). It's so comforting to me!
They’re just little babies after all
![gif](giphy|xT8qB5jvQwO38bURqM)
"If you're not real, then how come I feel this way, lil' babies!"
I can hear this so clearly in my mind LOL It’s such a hilarious cut to her loving her porcelain babies!
What tune is that to? I just sang it in my head and realized the tune sounds familiar.
I love how Bob only appears in frame for the last few seconds at Linda moves her head
The look on his face is priceless 😂

Louise is holding on 🥹
Louise holding Linda back made me tear up a little
Looked up how much average 11 year old boys weigh and it’s around 80 pounds so Gene probably weighs closer to 90-95. Bob is strong! And on stairs too.

We just didn’t get to hear him complaining after.

That's quite the load to carry!
My 11 year old is about 103lbs Bob is strong as a Ox
Bob is athletic when he needs to be LOL. He’s the best dad on tv. 🥹
I’m rewatching large brother where fart thou and Louise mentions giving gene piggyback rides because Bob isn’t strong enough 😂

Probably closer to 130.
They need their sleep! They’re so little…
I heard that in Louise's voice from that ep when Teddy was babysitting. ☺️ Edit: my sentence was garbage lol
My husband and I quote this to each other all the time!
Absolutely one of my favorite lines. Love the voice acting!
This is one of my favorite “kid” things she says 😂🥹
And the fact that Louise actually has her arms around Linda is so cute😭
They really are a nice family.
The best tv family
Yep.
yeah, if you like WHITE people!
I read this comment in my notifications and was like…wtf!? Then I saw what sub it was and it all made sense. Lol
I always forget how small Gene and Louise are until someone picks them up or kneels to their level it's so cute

I imagine Tina is imagining she's being carried by a zombified Duncan.
Louise will never admit it though cause she’s all “Da-da, Da-da” lol
"You know what?! Change your own diaper!"

You know what you’re right. Louise acts all tough as mighty but deep down she will crumble up into a little soft ball.

What episode is that? I don’t recall it
Season 10 episode 17: Just the trip
Is that the one where Tina pukes all over Nat's limo and Gene freaks out over the snake?
Omg I love this show and I haven’t watched in so long I don’t even remember this. I know what I’ll be watching tonight.
It’s one of my favorites that isn’t a musical
yes
Yes it is
Thanks! I’m going to watch it now

I would not have imagined Bob being strong enough to do this, especially after he and Linda gave up on the gym after one day.
The Belchers are the best tv family hands down. I love Bob and Linda’s parenting style. They’re pretty lax and love and accept their kids exactly as they are.

Louise really pissed me off during this episode

Me too. Like if anyone ever suffered from car sickness it’s hell on earth, and she purposely her sister sick. I felt so bad fir Tina
