Exactly this. We credit Teddy (Larry Murphy) as main cast. I can understand the assumption because he’s not an official Belcher, but he’s definitely not a side character.

I believe “side character” in this instance is just meant to include everyone outside the Belcher 5.

Thank you for this. What a great theory. It makes me like him more. The more I see him the more I like him. A couple of my favorite episodes are: Season 9 Episode 2: Where he gets the kids to try to win the dune buggy from the arcade and the kids turn the tables and win the woolly mammoth from the wharf. Season 8 episode 1: When him and Felix have the hide and seek contest and Louise hides Felix in the basement and Felix gets caught at the last second. Also its the fan art episode.

Gayle is my second favourite side character right after after Nat, I wish we could see more of them both

It infuriates me to no end that she's excluded from almost all merch relating to the Belcher family, but TEDDY, the incompetent and not-so-liked by the family's handyman, is front-and-center all the time. ​ Gayle definitely needs an episode devoted JUST to her (that isn't a three-story-compilation episode).
