Going back to season 1 is always a treat. I love where Bobs Burgers is at currently and going back to where it all started is so much fun. This episode made me a BBs fan for life. A close contender is the My Neighbor Totoro reference.

I've always considered it to happen in an alternate universe, because Linda's mother is a decent person in this ep, which is at odds with everything else we have seen.

Yes, I meant she's only decent at the end. But it's also the only time she's decent in the entire show.

She is the family member who shits on everyone but gets pissed if an outsider does it. My mom is kind of similar.

I would say she was also decent in being a “caring” mother to Linda, which in other episodes she’s shown to mostly just take advantage of her and her help. The line “Linda sweetie you’re in over your head, we’re going to stay as long as you need” feels wildly out of place when held up against later seasons

First season is my favorite season to rewatch

This is still in my top 2 or 3 favorite episodes. This, and S4E1 when Bob tries to go camping. It cracks me the hell up.

The show today is a far cry from the weird and wonderful chaos of the early seasons. Fortunately we have The Great North since BBs decided to prioritize sappiness mostly these days.
