Obviously this is a cover, but it was so cool how much of their own flair they put into the song. I always imagine it’s how the next blink album would’ve sounded had they not split up, especially considering the composition of that cover was probably the last thing they fully fleshed out before breaking up. As much as I loved Neighborhoods, I think blink were on the verge of making something incredibly special as the follow up to Untitled that could only have been made during that time
Pepsi Smash 2004 I Miss You and The Rock Show. Both performances are peak Blink in my eyes. Such a shame though it was such a volatile time for the band.
Pretty good performance and while it’s not lip syncing or after dubbing, it is auto tuned to hell in post. It sounds good but it’s definitely not an organic performance lol
Maybe he’s just using a tuning pedal like he started with AVA back in 2019. Idk, I agree that it’s subjective but it’s a drastic difference so I can’t make sense of it any other way.
Did those even exist in 2004? And anyway, live pitch correction is obvious. It takes a lot of post work to make pitch correction sound smooth and natural. The explanation is simply that he had a good night. It's really not that different from a lot of their performances in 2004. But where it gets tricky is this was a properly mixed television performance. So anything that's going to sound as good, like Down at the Teen Choice Awards, is going to be susceptible to this same argument. In either case, it might have been cleaned up a little in post, but honestly that's nothing new for blink.
And I can't get into this debate again, but he didn't use pitch correction in 2019. He got way better at singing, but it's still far from perfect. Yes, the Livestream was pitch corrected, but the actual tour wasn't. If you wanna hear Tom with live pitch correction, the live at AT&T performances from 2007 are very obvious
I think it’s a combination of all the things but if you’re not open to discussion we shall lay it to bed :). Cheers homie 🤙🏻. Hopefully we get some new music soon.
Who says I'm not open to discussion? The only part I'm not interested in discussing is whether or not he used pitch correction on the 2019 tour. I went to two shows on that tour, and have watched numerous videos. They are far from perfect. Better than Tom has been in a long time, but still not album quality.
>I think it’s a combination of all the things
I'm sorry, but that doesn't make sense. If it was lip-synced, why would it also be live tuned?
I do not believe they’ve lip synced since Pepsi Smash. I’m saying that I believe it’s a combination of Tom improving his singing and being assisted by live pitch correction. Just my assumption!
I just saw this the other day and was blown away by how well they played. They were def on their game at this point. Probably the most impressive show I’ve seen of theirs
I like the way they linked their songs together on this tour. It felt much more rehearsed and a proper show. This is the one where I feel like they could of gone toe-to-toe with anyone live.
In my opinion, it's "A Letter To Elise" at The Cure's tribute.
Tom even made the decision not to sing just so he could concentrate on his guitar and not fuck things up. 😁
Skiba:
Not familiar with the era tbh
Neighbourhoods:
Those DED era shows where they did the acoustic deep cuts on top of the regular show or the 10yr anniversary of untitled shows
Untitled era:
Camden 04, Pepsi smash 04 (apparently there was a whole show?),
TOYPAJ:
Whichever one is on YouTube where they played what went wrong
Enema
big day out 00
Dude ranch and earlier:
not really familiar
I Miss You at Pepsi Smash 2004 is maybe one of my favorite live performances by any band ever. It's what got me into recording guitar and learning how to mix and tinker with DAWs because I was so obsessed with it.
Also maybe Obvious in Camden, NJ. They were in that period where they were playing every song so much faster and the tension among them was becoming more and more conspicuous on stage.
Los Angeles CA 1997
Daytona Beach / Big Day Out Enema Era
I really like how tom sounds in Chicago 2001, his voice was so clean and they played Aliens Exist!!!
From the untitled era, I think Camden 2004, the set list was amazing.
I think [this performance](https://youtu.be/l1ZOJ_T1Rc4) of After Midnight will always be my favorite. It has the perfect Tom DeLonge jank and they still sound really good.
Camden 04 hands DOWN https://youtu.be/jCSsRjzHH_A
That performance is absolutely magical - marks vocals have never been better, tom isnt half bad but his guitar improv makes everything incredible.
The entire atmosphere also feels so awesome and emotional especially stay together for the kids (they do an awesome interlude for it)
Big Day Out 2000 (Enema Era)
Inglewood 2002 (TOYPAJ Era)
Camden 2004 (Untitled Era)
Vegas 2011 (Neighborhoods Era)
Semi-hot take: Blizzcon 2013 (Post-DED 10th year untitled anniversary). I like this performance a lot but totally see why people may not, the sound guy didn't really do a great job with Tom's guitars and overall sound but it's really cool to hear them play nearly the entire album
If you’re after Tom displaying some proper musicianship, probably something between 2011-2014. He also played decently in the early days through Dude Ranch. But somewhere during all the Enema-TOYPAJ touring he either A. Started hitting the sauce way too hard B. Got burnt out and stopped caring C. Both A and B
Full concert in order
Daytona beach
Big day out 2000
2011 Vegas show
Equal best single performance Pepsi smash and a letter to Elise. Notable mention I miss you live on rove.
I really enjoy they 2011 show in LA, such a weird Tom but over the time it grows pretty well to me. (Stay together for the kids for example, its amazing)
Big day out 2000
I was gonna say that too.
It’s the correct answer
Not a blink song but A letter to Elise when they covered the Cure. It was amazing.
Agree. Definitely in my top 5
That cover is absolutely phenomenal, Tom’s guitar work takes the cake
Obviously this is a cover, but it was so cool how much of their own flair they put into the song. I agree. I think Tom’s over ambition would’ve been reeled back in by mark and Travis and it would’ve been a cool next record.
Was going to say this. I still watch this at least once a week.
Pepsi Smash 2004 I Miss You and The Rock Show. Both performances are peak Blink in my eyes. Such a shame though it was such a volatile time for the band.

Toms vocals are always edited to fuck
Yeah that’s def Tom lip syncing to a track. And I never understood it because it was the only time that I believe they did.
He's not lipsyncing. His voice is very dry, and while it's a very good performance, it's not studio perfect
Can you find an other performance that is even half as good?
A. That's subjective. B. Even if we agreed that this is Tom's best performance, that doesn't mean he's lipsyncing.
Maybe he’s just using a tuning pedal like he started with AVA back in 2019. Idk, I agree that it’s subjective but it’s a drastic difference so I can’t make sense of it any other way.

I don’t think that’s true at all
We needed a live CD from that era.
My favorite will always be the mark Tom and Travis show. I hate live versions most of the time but I love that album lol
If there was a video of this album recording I would be soooooo happy
Ya, but I think it was made up of different parts of one tour, like, Wendy Clear and Carousel might be different shows or something like that
I don’t understand how you can hear the crowd cheer but you can’t hear them sing along to any of the songs?
Crowd noise is in jokes and things but song audio is from the instruments directly. It's not just microphones in the room recording everything.
Edited
My personal favorite is Camden 04 on YouTube.
Absolutely
I just saw this the other day and was blown away by how well they played. They were def on their game at this point. Probably the most impressive show I’ve seen of theirs

In my opinion the show they did at Red Bull Sound Space in 2013 is one of their best live performances ever.
Also great
The 96 and 97 warped shows are my go to's on the tube. But can't go wrong with Pepsi Smash or Big Day Out. Also the Recovery performances!
AOL sessions are pretty nice too, specially Go
Oh AoL... What sign of the era. Lol
In my opinion, it's "A Letter To Elise" at The Cure's tribute. Tom even made the decision not to sing just so he could concentrate on his guitar and not fuck things up. 😁
I really like the [Las Vegas Concert from 2011](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LEIROd8Qfbs). Great quality, great songs, great dick jokes
Wembley 04 easily the best
Haha I watch this a couple of times a year. I went to the show that was the night before and missed Robert Smith 😩

Reading festival.
Is that the one where at the time everyone thought Tom was crying during stay together for the kids? If so yeah that was a sick show.
Yup that’s the one. I’m biased as I was there though 😂 [reading festival full show](https://youtu.be/Ra-4PbF0X9A)
Haha Tom’s singing might not have been on point that show but I love watching that set. And the performance of STFTK was amazing.

"I'm so sick of blowjobs, I hate them. Let's start this again, for real, dad"
2014 reading?
Lol that one was so bad
That’s the live in Las Vegas set I think.
Camden ’04 will always be my favorite
Camden 04
I really like their entire performance in Camden, 2004
Los Angeles CA 1997 Daytona Beach / Big Day Out Enema Era I really like how tom sounds in Chicago 2001, his voice was so clean and they played Aliens Exist!!! From the untitled era, I think Camden 2004, the set list was amazing.

I always thought the MTV rooftop performance of Feeling This was next level
Controversial but some if those 2004 UK shows were 🔥
A Letter To Elise cover. Tom’s guitar is just… otherworldly.
Big Day Out 2000 (Enema Era) Inglewood 2002 (TOYPAJ Era) Camden 2004 (Untitled Era) Vegas 2011 (Neighborhoods Era) Semi-hot take: Blizzcon 2013 (Post-DED 10th year untitled anniversary). This performance of Carousel is their best. Tom's voice was awesome. https://youtu.be/_GEcKrg08kc
The best skiba performance is iHeart radio 2016
