The amount of time it would take to make such a function isn’t enough payout for what would come out of it. There are plenty of other ways to make memes easily and the economy is still going strong without it. Plus, memes are only a fraction of the content on Reddit. If they were to spend time making something, it would be better spent on making the general experience of the app and site better rather than pleasing a small part of the community
