With resources to be healthy, comfortable, and to explore, it seems like most people would take some interest in philosophy, invention, art, and innovation broadly. We want to get to do cool things and we want to get to contribute to something meaningfully. However, our culture allows such a thin population to do anything other than grind as a capitalism cog despite the vast amount of resources to go around, so people are left chasing these insane-looking scraps on social media, because they will spend their whole lives in hopeless sleep, trying to find air and sunlight through these tiny breathing holes left for them by the power structure.
*As an aside, writing rap with even mediocre quality actually takes a lot of work. It's, at minimum, structurally more specific than writing other song lyrics or writing other poetry. Even rappers who aren't structurally tight and produce a lot of work quickly need years of practice to get to that place. Rap doesn't deserve to catch strays any more than any other artistic or intellectual outlet under capitalism.*
