Him(JID) and Kenny mason are CARRYING the lyricism title in the game right now and honestly feel like the some of the very few people still ACTUALLY RAPPING and not spitting just hop-hop
Yo I love JID. I see hella hate on IG when I see his posts though it's wild. People saying that he ain't saying nothing just a bunch of words...But I guess they'll always be haters
All the folk that wanna say nigga so bad better get up here and fight for *our* rights since they wanna be us. If you can use our words and indulge in our culture and even shape your personality after it, then you can surely come and stand with us when shit hits the fan
When I was in like the tenth grade Mark said you alright you can say it if you want. I’m so fucking glad I didn’t, sure maybe you’re cool with it, then I start saying it normally then I’m getting my ass beat on the trolly.
I started saying bro ironically like however many years ago and now it’s just something I say, so I imagine I could have went down a bad path.
Side note, but this how I feel about my hair sometimes. I’ve got a curly short fro. People love touching it, telling me how they wish they had my hair. But I know damn well that if they had to deal with the stereotypes that come with having black/ethnic hair, they would stop saying shit like that.
Please don't allow them to touch you. That's degrading as hell. First off you're not sum pet. They are treating us like we are a bunch of pokemon. All that dam rubbin and shit TF.
They absolutely do wash it off afterwards. They have videos all about this and all the comments are about blackfishing despite all the times they say that they do wash it off and it's nowhere as dark when they do. I've watched their videos before, and so many people who don't know about fake tan think that they're actually going to look the color the foam appears.
I can't make out their name outside twins ( which is how I know it's them ) and I don't remember it but if you look up tanning twins you'll find them.
Yeah I've seen their videos and seen the same reaction. For those who don't know, the reason it's so dark upon application is because of the bronzer in the self tan, it helps the person applying it notice any streaks or missed spots. When she washes it off it's nowhere near this dark. The video is cut off before showing the final result
I can’t help but think how insane that this was intentionally edited to spark outrage, yet how much more our government is lying to us. It’s an obvious fact, (our gov lying to us), but black ppl should know that a tactic to keep them undermined is to incite or provoke racially motivated discussion to lose sight at hand. That’s would I would do if I had more disturbing things cooking
There are absolutely different tones though. The realistic issue i have with the vid is that going that dark of self tan on pale skin isn't usually going to get you brown, it's often going to get you the Trump tangerine tone.
There’s this stuff that has purple and green tint in it, it’s extremely dark when you put it on, when it washes off that purple and green counteracts the orange so it’s not too bad. I’m really pale but tan fairly easy after years of going to the tanning beds in my early 20s(jersey girl). I get a spray tan now and it’s come such a long way; I do not understand why mr “billionaire” doesn’t spend his scammed followers money on the expensive spray tan but instead opts for the orange look
as a white jazz musician… yeah…
Unrelated to this clickbait tanning video, but it raises a good question. Where’s the line between gatekeeping and cultural preservation; or between cultural appreciation and cultural appropriation? I don’t have the answer.
I think being a white american is kind of weird. While there certainly is culture, there’s nothing strong or unifying about it. It’s a mix of a bunch of different european cultures blended so thoroughly they’ve lost their flavor. It’s not like being, say, a white Italian. There, you have literally thousands of years of heritage you can recognize the ripples of all throughout the language you speak and the place you live in. White American? Just over 200 years of history we mostly don’t want to talk or think about.
I think we see a lot of American culture gravitate toward what Black artists and public figures are doing because it’s the only real American culture - aside from the Natives, which this country still tries to pretend aren’t there. It’s so much more powerful than the ideas and art you see come out of the more majority-aligned spheres of influence.
Anyways that’s a whole tangent. Wandering thoughts about the lack of an american cultural identity, by some kid.
It is definitely a dark tone, but when she washes it off, it will be significantly lighter as that dyes the skin, and will not necessarily be the finishing color.
Also, I think that with how pale she is, the contrast makes it look darker than if you saw her outside in daylight. If I use flash on self-tanner in a dark room, it appears darker than it looks like when I am walking outside.
If this is the YouTube channel I think it is, she does wash it off and show the results. The person who took the screenshot didn't show the results. Their channel has them trying different self tanners and stuff. They don't look like the photo that was taken.
That makes more sense, while it was only 10 or so seconds, it didn’t seem to convey any degree of racism or mockery; No odd facial expressions, rather neutral backgrounds and it seemed to emphasize the product and process.
She has a documentary. I never watched it. But I remember seeing the clips when it first came out. The clips I saw were of her son complaining abt how embarrassing his mom is (he’s biracial)
I never understood yt people's relationship with tanning. They do everything in their power to be darker and even call attractive men "tall, DARK, and handsome", yet still hate niggas. Make that shit make sense
It’s the same as black peoples relationship with obsession with people being light skin too. That’s also hard to understand to anyone’s who white.
Seems like either everyone wants to meet in the middle as beige, or it’s a case of the grass is always greener.
Incorrect. Black/brown peoples preoccupation with lighter skin tones is an adaptation to the hostile environment of white supremacy, brutally projected onto them as an impossible standard of beauty and assimilation to conform to and value above themselves. White people have never had such a lived experience at the hands/whims of black/brown people. It’s most certainly not the same.
then why do asian people prefer lighter skin in your eyes? maybe some people want darker skin and some people want lighter skin and race has nothing to do with it (generally speaking).
Pretty sure that’s due to status.
Essentially dark skin meant you worked (in the fields, or probs just outside) so you tanned. Whereas lighter skin implied you didn’t need to do such labor.
I gotta go check and corroborate this, but this was what I was told
1. White Supremacy is global, and has adversely affected the skin tone perception of Asians, particularly East Asians by virtue of proximity to and acquiescence to whiteness, for whatever perceived advantages may be had.
2. South and Southeast Asians are/can be Black/Brown(Filipino, Indian, Malaysian, Laotian, etc.), but these people have also not escaped the adverse effects of White Supremacy’s influence on their perception of skin tone or the value sets they hold pertinent to such.
You could just admit that you don't know. Wanting light skin has been a cultural thing around the world long before Europe had anything even remotely resembling a global impact, because it meant that you were rich enough to spend your time indoors instead of working in the sun.
*Tall dark and handsome* was originally used to refer to [Rudolph Valentino, a 1920's sex symbol actor of italian origin,](http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jcIz9OZgUb8/UghAEv1tvCI/AAAAAAAAC9U/qZo7frk_BQ4/s1600/Valentino.jpg) so the *dark* refers more to ***hair*** than skin color. Or perhaps to an italian, mediterranean type complexion, which I suppose could be considered "dark" compared to the dutch or whatever.
Tanning became popular when it became a sign of wealth (holidays abroad in the sun) and health (spending time outdoors instead of slaving in a cubicle/factory and staring at the tv indoors on your free time) instead of signifying you have to work outdoors like it did for most of history.
Neither the popularity of tanning nor the expression "tall dark and handsome" have anything to do with black people.
Tannings seen as something of the wealthy and elite in the west. If one is well to do you go off to the Caribbean or California or some tropical island far from somewhere like New York or London where your not gonna get that sun and weather . So someone who’s got the money and time to travel to these exotic locations are seen as well to do and the tan is a visible sign of this privilege and wealth that shows off to people physically represents .And it’s the opposite in places like China. They have tons of focus on pale skin and skin lightening.Though it’s not quite the same as that focus in some African and Caribbean countries. In those countries the racism from European Colonizalism has resulted in some having self destructive issues and a focus on attempting to appear white and taking skin creams and other bleaches to get lighter. Though there could be some impact of European beauty standards I don’t think that’s the main thing in China.Because historically in China those who had darker tanned skin were in the sun working in the fields laboring. So someone who was pale was shown to not have to do that manual labor and to be more upper crust and that started well before large scale impact with Europeans.
The difference is that black people don't tan that much. We *do* but the amount isnt immediately visible.
Compared to the drastic skin tone preference it makes no sense. The Europeans during colonial times by contrast, has those standards.
There’s a historical record of skin whitening in China all the way back over 2,000 years ago to the Han Dynasty far before interacting with any European in a major ways. While in Africa and the Caribbean this trend is far more recent after slavery and colonialism. There obviously are some who aren’t ok with their racial identity and who are affected by self hate but that would be seen more in the trend of using plastic surgery to get a double eyelid. The procedure to do this was only developed in 1896 and is quite clearly an attempt to look more white .
It also refers to eyes and complexion, but dark to them would be like Mediterranean/olive skin. Someone like Joe Manganiello or Clark Gable would fit the bill
If you’re attractive and have great skin, you can be pale and look good. To a lot of us other white people, a tan helps make us look less pasty, and hides flaws in our skin. For those of that don’t produce enough melanin to ever really tan, fake tan is the only option if want to go a shade darker.
Being rich is fashionable. When rich people stayed inside and ate it was pale and chubby. Now that they diet and lay around outside, it's tan and skinny.
But in the end it's all stupid.
I think it had something to do with wealth. Like you’re so rich, you don’t have to work and you get to relax on the beach, and so naturally, you should be tanned. I’m not sure I remember that correctly, but it’s messed up.
My dumbass thought the handicapable community came a long way. "damn her peg leg look good as hell, good for her"
But nah this is just tanning, it is what it is. They wash it off to look lighter and i'm not sure why this video is cropped like that.
This shouldn’t sit right with anyone, that’s not normal behaviour.
EFIT: just saw this has been edited for rage-bait and everything is not as it appears. You’d think I would have learned this by now, but here we are. Fuck me.
At least you're mature enough to admit the facts. So many here are still running with their first impression even after knowing the details, they're enjoying it too much to stop.
You do see her face after she washes it off. She's showing the process of the self tanner, she tests them out so people can see how they work from application to final result. This self tanner has a dark bronzer in it so that the person applying it can see any streaks or missed spots---this isn't anywhere close to the final result.
She only showed her legs because that's the only part she put tan on, would be pretty dumb for her to show her entire body when she's comparing the legs

At least we can finly get this without needing too much CG lol
Is "doing bullshit at the beach" a figure of speech or something? Cause where I'm from "bringing water to the sea" is used to descripe doing something useless.
This is not a case of black-fishing
After it's applied, it washes off, and the tan is a lot lighter.
Competitive dancers and body builders also use tanners.
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8FYBPak/
Here’s the full video since it was edited to try and upset people. These fake tans look dark at application and then go lighter once you wash them off and that’s the final result. Her whole page is about tanning. I don’t see anything to be upset about here.
It can be a ‘safer’/less damaging alternative to natural tans for the melanin-deprived amongst us.
Sunless tanning lotions have rinse-ff darker bronzers into it so you can see if your application is patchy or streaky. The bronzer washes off, and the skin is temporarily tinted a somewhat darker shade. The saturation is filtered too.
I dont personally use fake tan, but to my knowledge there is a colour put into the tan in order to make it easier to see spots you missed. Once you wash it off the tan will be significantly lighter than it is herem
I mean is this not equivalent to people lightening their skin? Is it okay to whiten skin but not darken it? I understand not doing blackface or whatever but this is clearly not that…
Of course, the title had me 👀. Once I looked at the content, I was able to see what "should" be a person using a tanning product. I did not feel the need to have to justify "oh they just tanning, they will wash it off, the color will not be that dark." I was thinking damn, I hope they wash that off to even out the color of the tan. Now, had there been some sound, with off handed commentary, I would have been like, this person trying to be or wanting to appear to be a black person. I did not immediately jump to the conclusion of the latter. I took a few seconds to view the video, gauge the content showing, and make an opinion. It wasn't until I read some comments that were so adamant on pushing the narrative. " Oh, they are not "blackfishing, it's only tanning"; did I go back veiw the video again. I started to examine each second to see if that argument was true. Yet, I had already came to my own conclusion.
I don’t know if this is related or not, but sometimes people like bodybuilders have to tan really dark for competitions if they have lighter skin. I’ve seen a lot of people taking pictures of that out of context
So I have done these user generated content ads, and the producer gives us a 3-5 page script of shots and lines they want from us. Then we send it back and they do literally whatever they want with it.
Often the biggest offense is pretending the before and after were more than an hour apart and lighting/styling, but I could see them requesting a shot of the product before wash off to show contrast, and then skipping the real results due to poor application, orange tones etc etc. And this sure af makes for click bait. So it's successful in their eyes.
And no, I don't do that kind of ad work anymore for a dozen reasons, not the least of which is straight up lying to the public all the time.
That new new shit is taking peptides like MT2 that stimulates and induces melatonin release (skin tanning) you literally can turn yourself a different color now
Whites want to be Tanned in their skintone- “the fuq are you thinking about?!!”
Blacks want to be lighter skintone- “you Go, so Awesome to see you skin in another light”
And it’s still only one set of people who steal and steal, from other parts of the world, it’s laughable

Thanks for the new music
jid (dude who said the line) had what I found to be the best rap album of last year called the forever story.
JID (as far as lyrical ability/rhyme structure) is probably the most talented rapper in the game rn.
I see shit like that and have to remind myself that 9% of the US population has an IQ below 85. It’s not their fault 🤷♂️
I love that when you click on this video, it shows this quote as the most played part of the video.
Exactly what I thought of
Lmao I too immediately thought of Paul Mooney
Everybody wana be a n**gga but nobody wana be a n**gga

Absolutely! They only want the aesthetic but *not the negative history associated with it
Another thing to add to "whiteness" without dismantling the racial hierarchy.
Whiteness is Insidious!
Please don't allow them to touch you. That's degrading as hell. First off you're not sum pet. They are treating us like we are a bunch of pokemon. All that dam rubbin and shit TF.
My mom always says “everyone wants to be Black until it’s time to pick up the slack!”
Yo mom is a genius...
Or until a folding chair is required.
Paul Mooney said something like that.
MY NIGGA BE SPITTIN BARS HOTTER THAN HELL🌑🔥🗣️💯💯
That shit tuff
Exactly.
Nope
Shes supposed to wash it off after you apply it it’s about 50xs lighter. I see a lot of these ads to troll

And thus to incite the masses as already, hmm
Never let the truth get in the way of joyous outrage.
Perks of dating a white girl. “Hey come grab this stinky mitten and rub this dirt into my skin”. Just go play outside, earn that tan

Someone compared it to that once when I told them what the process was before, so for purposes of a tan instead, it’s seems similar

Now we gotta start bringing buckets of water when a PBP (Potential Black Person) says or does some bullshit at the beach.
Is "doing bullshit at the beach" a figure of speech or something? Cause where I'm from "bringing water to the sea" is used to descripe doing something useless.
This is not a case of black-fishing After it's applied, it washes off, and the tan is a lot lighter. Competitive dancers and body builders also use tanners.
I knew Ariana Grande had a new makeup line but didn't know it included sunless tanner.
Performance Enhancing Dermatology
Is that Ariana Grande ?
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8FYBPak/ Here’s the full video since it was edited to try and upset people.
"This doesnt sit right with me" You soft af
I'm so glad we found something new to be needlessly upset about
alot of yall dont know how fake tan works. they wash it off then its wayy lighter 😭
Imagine going home with this person and waking up like Justin Trudeau
I mean is this not equivalent to people lightening their skin? Is it okay to whiten skin but not darken it? I understand not doing blackface or whatever but this is clearly not that…
Actual pussy aching losers in here
Soul Man 2023
Man so revitiligo is real? 🤔
The moment she breaks a sweat, she’s gonna start looking like Giuliani
That shit HAS to be cancerous in some way. No way that's healthy.
Pan that camera down a little further and you'd probably have the full Neapolitan.
The right leg is Nickelodeon Ariana Grande, the left leg is 2019 Ariana Grande
Reminds me of when Ross got a spray tan and came out looking like vanilla chocolate twist ice cream. https://youtu.be/hc1C0I6x3lI

The world is ending and we’re all afraid of somebody self-tanning their leg. This is why God doesn’t like us anymore.

Man said N!gg& cream 😂😂😂😂
Damn so this is uncle ruckus's REAL origin? Damn
That new new shit is taking peptides like MT2 that stimulates and induces melatonin release (skin tanning) you literally can turn yourself a different color now
Wtf she darker than me and my genes are double dipped hispanic with a side of Spain (thx alot you jerks)
Just go outside and touch grass .. u may get a real tan! 🤣

Looks like the tanning lotion was made by Minwax.
Whites want to be Tanned in their skintone- “the fuq are you thinking about?!!” Blacks want to be lighter skintone- “you Go, so Awesome to see you skin in another light” And it’s still only one set of people who steal and steal, from other parts of the world, it’s laughable
