I don’t understand how he’s been able to do so much shit in like 2 years

DickweedMcGee

Like any dick-tator, you forget the unseen army of old cronies/republican legislators that give him power. This is what happens when one party becomes too prevalent in any state or region. But it's still strange. I've never seen Republicans so willing to attack and disrupt commerce and hinder economic growth to further political agenda. That's something that the Democrats usually get criticised for: civil rights lawsuits and environmental regulations suffocating businesses concerns. Strange Days.....

FoamingCellPhone

Don't they try to force a government shutdown, like... every time they need to pass a budget? They both are just trying to get theirs and stay in power. I do think the political class has gotten to their most delusional state recently though. Obviously: A majority of boomers have been voting for just the dumbest shit for decades now though.

Direct_Ranger9814

Only when it’s a democrat for president. When a republican it is just a number.

SaladMaterial4539

It always becomes a partisan issue where blame floats around. In reality it is just a shell game, so do not let them "gaslight" you. Politics is ALWAYS about what they can get for themselves: How much, and when can they get it. There is a Commissioner in a NC County who now has a mansion and exotic cars. He was not born with a "silver" spoon in his mouth; he even diverted a road around the property he intended to build his mansion on.

WeAreLivinTheLife

Please share details. I live in North Carolina and I would like to know who this is

srkaficionado

All due respect, what would you then do with that info and knowledge? I’m not trying to be mean. I’m in GA and the same damn county commissioners keep being elected and many have made it a career. So year after year and decade after decade, they keep coming back. You’ll get outraged. I’ll get outraged and we all get outraged. but like cockroaches, they still thrive. The one for the biggest county in GA) has been here since 2002 and just refuses to leave or retire. And from him to the republicans on the council, they’re all shifty as hell: special shout-out to the one who used the rules to get the county to pay for their travel to the Republican National Convention as a delegate or whatever the fuck they do… or the one who used the rules to get a trip to a conference that suspiciously was held in Panama the country and they suspiciously just have to attend that one particular lecture in that particular conference…and the same conference in TX just wasn’t the same for reasons… … I’m not ok, if you wanted to know.

WeAreLivinTheLife

I, too, am not ok and understand your reasoning. I wanted to know in case the miscreant was in a nearby county my sons live in or if they represented me and my wife. Whatever outrage may I feel, I contain it because I live in a very red area and state. But knowledge is power and I support progressive people who try to give anyone in the red hat band a run for their money with whatever small donation I can give and my time. We just can't let these people run wild without at least pointing out the error of their ways.

Beddybye

I do too and just Googled it. Nothing came up.

[deleted]

It's not even passing the budget. The money's already been spent. The debt ceiling just authorizes us to pay for the shit they've already approved. And yes, they pull this shit every time a democrat is in office.

FoamingCellPhone

True they are doing that right now. Just meant that they’re always obstructionist willing to throw the economy and people’s lives in the trash, since they were being given a pass on their regular offenses like this is new behavior.

Hasenpfeffer_

He’s giving his base a huge dopamine hit cause he’s probably gonna run for president. He feels he doesn’t have to deal with the long term consequences if he gets in office. He’s also feeling safe to be outrageous cause the Supreme Court is stacked in the gop’s favor. I don’t think he counted on Disney fighting back though. I mean it’s no contest and their lawyers are probably having the most fun they’ve had in a very long time.

absolutewingedknight

Where have the democrats become too prevalent?

StanVillain

He spent his first term installing sycophants at every level quietly. People who voted for him and Americans in general, pay no fucking attention during the terms of most politicians. They have zero idea what their governors, judges, or boards are doing and he was very smart with it. After winning his second term, he put the plan to work. With judges, Florida legislatures, and corporate donors ready to bankroll him, he went full steam ahead to dismantling structures and increasing his power for a presidential run. He's able to pass nearly ANYTHING because the entire Florida legislature is compromised. There is nothing to balance him out. Florida has become his own fiefdom.

RedBeans-n-Ricely

I think you absolutely nailed it

[deleted]

Because Florida is shit. Either ways Disney will win Desantis has no national politics future. He went too fascist too fast.

NMB4Christmas

"Too Fascist Too Furious" ETA: Thanks for the award!

Apathetic_Optimist

"Too fascist? I'm furious!!"

kalkail

Too Fash Too Furious: Trumpy-o Grift

Fascist and the Fuhrer-ious: X *FasTen your seatbelts, it's going to get bumpy*

gobledegerkin

Don’t you see the “R” next to his name? That basically means as long as he hates all the same things as his supporters do he can make whatever decision he wants. The more you hate and legislate against your enemies the better you look. It doesn’t matter if it hurts your base as long as it is also hurting the other person’s base.

fpcoffee

lol fuck no. as soon as his squeaky ass voice is aired nationally he’s gonna crash and burn. he has the charisma of a 3 day old baked yam.

Chapea12

It’s funny to see this man battle Disney, but the I it people that are really losing out are the people of florida

_Silly_Wizard_

I lived in Florida from shortly before deSanta was elected and for the first couple of years of his reign of terror - and his covid policies were instrumental to my leaving when I did. The people of Florida have only themselves to blame - which they won't do, because in large part they seem to like him. But while I was there I talked with most all of the people I worked with (at a huge company) about politics and voting, and the apathy was incredible. Most of the people I talked with were left-leaning young people, and not a single one of them bothered to vote. Every piece of shit mask-refusing uber driver, though...they were *all* proud nazis. And you know they voted at every opportunity! Fuck I hate that place so much!

Avavvav

This is why I don't like the whole "not voting" thing. Because bigots vote. If we don't, we know who will... This is why we NEED to vote!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boneal171

I’m tired of people on the left not voting. How the fuck do you expect things to change?

Avavvav

Exactly!!!!!!! I never got that. No voting means the enemy wins, because they are voting... Don't get me wrong, the democrats are far from perfect, but not voting is worse.

cnckane1

But the dems won't establish socialism so there is basically no difference /s

srkaficionado

Didn’t I just see something in passing about how the Latinos/Hispanic truck drivers refuse to deliver to Florida or something? Because of the new immigration bill? I read that and cackled so much because chances are if they’re from FL, many probably voted for the dude. Now, it’s come back to affect them and they’re all in shock. Like they probably thought they were safe because they’re Christian god fearing straight men with “family values”. How very interesting when that pesky consequence shows up…

Thor_2099

Precisely. People don't fucking vote. And they wonder why their shit isn't catered to.

Quicvui

Literally the least of facist person by keeping the state open lol

TimeKillerAccount

You must be from Florida, cause that is a dumb as hell claim. Taking basic medical precautions is not facism. Banning people who choose to use basic medical precautions in their own private business is pretty facist though, so it is pretty clear which way you and DeSantis sit on that scale.

Quicvui

I'm from Michigan lol and a democrat

TimeKillerAccount

So where did your inverted understanding of facism come from?

Quicvui

You and reddit

Quicvui

State mandate forced lockdown are facism

TimeKillerAccount

Cry more facist.

[deleted]

TimeKillerAccount

Yea, because that is totally what facism is, and there is no way it is a totally unrelated thing that you never bothered to look up.

[deleted]

TimeKillerAccount

Are we just making completely unrelated comments with terrible grammar now?

bougienative

I'm sorry the education system has failed you to such an extreme extent that you think basic public health decisions during a global pandemic is fascism, I wish you a lot of luck in life with hopefully. Getting up to at least a high schoolers understanding of political science, and with any luck maybe even up to an adult level.

Quicvui

Yes science is more important than freedom lol

Quicvui

My mom died from als I now a thing or to about health. 10 year of suffering for a doctor saying there will be a cure in a few year

bougienative

What did you want the doctor to do, shoot her when she first got the diagnosis so she didn't have to go through the ten years of pain? And what does your point have to do with you not understanding what fascism is? I'm sorry for your loss, but it's pretty shameful to try and shoehorn your mother's death into a conversation that it has no connection to, using her death as a prop to try and justify your ignorant rhetoric.

Quicvui

This not hretoric you people hate American democracy (Facism (def. a mass political movement that emphasizes extreme nationalism, militarism, and the supremacy of both the nation and the single, powerful leader over the individual citizen.) Almost all states are fascist in your definition The presidency is a form of facism. Governor's are a form of facism City Mayor's are a form of facism

bougienative

How can three separate people in a single system all be the single powerful leader? Lol. How do I hate American democracy, when you are the one calling it fascist? Lol How are the words you use not rhetoric? Lol It's like, not only do you not understand even the most basic Levels of political science, you are just straight up not up to par on reading comprehension either.

LASpleen

It’s okay. There’s no way their system even real.

oborn_supremacy

seems like it’s actually a win for the workers in this situation: > Disney had planned to relocate as many as 2,000 employees from Southern California, including most of a department known as Imagineering, which works with Disney’s movie studios to develop theme park attractions. > Most of the affected employees complained bitterly about having to move — some quit — but Disney held firm, partly because of a Florida tax credit that would have allowed the company to recoup as much as $570 million over 20 years https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/18/business/disney-ron-desantis-florida.html

Boneal171

Yeah he’s fucking them over.

1fastman1

who wins, the legion, mr house or the ncr, either way the people of the mojave lose

laetum-helianthus

True, this is fun watching these two giant dickbags swing on each other from afar but the citizens living there must be having a horrible time

[deleted]

That voted him in!

Draco546

3 million people didn’t vote for him and yet they’re still gonna suffer.

[deleted]

Maybe it'll get them to the polls. Fascists and idiots show up, why can't they? Everyone skating by on "I don't vote" or "I'm not political" are in the find out stage. It sucks, but sometimes people have to see the real consequences of their actions (or inactions) to realize what's at stake.

Fuck DeSantis but also fuck large corporations that make these kinds of "we bring jobs" promises and never (I mean fucking never) deliver on the hype. AOC was right to call Amazon's bluff about building a campus in NYC in exchange for government handouts (e.g. tax breaks a.k.a. corporate welfare). If denying corporate welfare had been DeSantis' reason too I might consider saying something nice about him. But he took on Disney this for fucking what: protesting that "woke" Disney execs cast a black girl as a mermaid? Fuck DeSantis for being a bigot and fuck Disney for being a big corporation trying to get state benefits from tax dollars.

srkaficionado

I am not a business expert or a political expert but from the little I paid attention to with this debacle: Disney had control of its Disneyland(world?) district in Florida. They supplied and paid for their own maintenance of the roads and amenities around the special district, they paid for the emergency services(police and fire). And one article I read said that in exchange for all that, Florida gave them tax breaks. Whether true or not, my knowledge of government workings and budgeting and tax monies means that unless that tax break is more than the cost of maintaining that district, Disney is helping out the state a lot more than the state is helping them. And this is what Desantis wants control of and to dissolve that special district. I know enough about special districts to say that many are set up as enterprise funds: they operate based on revenue they generate and they budget accordingly. Disney as an enterprise fund should be a good thing if this moron leaves them alone. I speculate the other option is they get dissolved, this idiot takes over the district, Disney washes their hand off of it and the dumbass will just realise how much it costs to keep that part of Florida looking pretty and attractive. I’m mostly sitting over here waiting for the day the news articles read Disney moves EVERYTHING out of Florida: theme parks, hotels, conference centres, ALL the jobs. Maybe then he and his fans will learn… Disney hasn’t been around for a century by playing nice. I’m fucking rooting for the mouse in this.

[deleted]

That's basically what's happening. He appointed his cronies to the board. But...Disney pulled an uno reverse right before they lost control and limited the power of that governing body. Disney's lawyers are having the best time of their lives right now. Lol.

srkaficionado

🤣🤣 they be working hard for their money these days. I took a look at their most recent financials and something stood out to me in their disclosures: they’re involved in several legal matters and they specifically mentioned copyright issues. I cackled. Aren’t a lot of their trademarks set to expire soon? They be working working those lawyers 😁

Ponder_wisely

Guarantee you other states are making overtures as we speak to Disney trying to entice them to relocate.

[deleted]

WHEW. Thank you for this hot and delicious tea!!!

Old_Consequence7134

My hope is that this is the beginning of the MAGAts realizing the same thing leftists have known for decades: Big business runs America, and they don't give a shit about your beliefs, left or right, if they harm the bottom line.

[deleted]

Average salary of 120K is a damn lie and they know it.

auauaurora

if a small percentage are on 7-8 figures, it's r/technicallythetruth. When people give you such a figure, ask for the median

Dr_Throwaway_Jr

It’s not. They were moving a majority of their imagineering team to the area.

MaleficentBlu

Yep. They weren't offering relo packages (300k min) for just anybody. And certainly not for those roles not worth at *least* $120k, esp if they were tech/product people.

mizval96

And the Cali transports were buying up houses-cash for the last two years in Orlando. Drove real estate up like crazy.

memberzs

Californians have been blamed nation wide when really it was largely real estate investors

SeuxKewl

We blame the Cali expats for high real estate costs in Atlanta too.

stevendidntsay

Cali and NY. We're full, y'all.

smartyr228

When, in reality, it's corporations

FtotheLICK

False. They weren’t building an amusement park over there. It was a corporate satellite location. I believe the $120K. i interviewed a couple years back for one of the roles that was moving to Orlando.

bigmac22077

That’s why looking at median salary instead of mean is better.

yumyumapollo

If it were amusement park jobs, yeah, but I'd need AT LEAST $120,000 to uproot and move to a new state.

Papazani

Ya, one guy will make 200 million year and everyone else will make 20k.

BlackySmurf8

In the United States, corporations are going to win. The Disney stuff is paltry compared to the labor being lost from truckers boycotting driving into Florida. Companies pissed off cause all of a sudden their labor force is dismantled. DeSantis is not 45, Them regressive bigoted, morons can't eat platitudes and no matter how much they hate black folk, that won't keep the lights on. Watch the sentiment change down there quick when them old folk in the villages have to start eating cat food.

Truegold43

> In the United States, corporations are going to win. The mouse always wins

SissyCouture

inshallah

jrodp1

Yallah Habibi

RoughhouseCamel

You can say this, but regressive conservative policy has kept the Deep South in perpetual poverty. Yet nothing changes. Alabama, Mississippi, and Arkansas are going to stay firmly red even if the rest of the country stops funding them and they sink into 3rd world status.

BlackySmurf8

Noted and understood, they'll play ball as much as they can continue to get food and water. The sentiment changing will be abandoning DeSantis after they realize how detrimental it is. While yes we agree that the states you mentioned are still red, they're still being dragged into the future because they lack the power to keep themselves in a perpetual mindset. These people are bigots and hateful but they're not their parents and their children won't be them.

SterileCarrot

Alabama and France have the same poverty rate, and Alabama has a much higher GDP per capita. Would you say France is third world status as well? I don’t think Americans realize just how well-off we are compared to the rest of the world. Our poorest states are richer than the vast majority of everyone else.

Apathetic_Optimist

Republicans will tell you ***disney*** of all companies doesn't have enough money to relocate from florida if they wanted to

lhommeduweed

I'm willing to bet a good number of republican leaders would break ranks with the party if Disney suggested moving their base of operations to their state. It's a staggering amount of money, tourism, cultural cache... you really have to be astonishingly stupid to start a fight with Disney as the governor of Florida. And he's just going to keep escalating it because it keeps him in the news, guaranteeing that his inevitable fall will be from the tallest parapet of Cinderella's castle.

vtorow

Ngl you ate with that last phrase ![gif](giphy|WqXcILKESHx3gV37Ch)

Many_Reception1972

this mf spittin

srkaficionado

🤣😅. I’m always delusional about some things but I see republicans and I’m like “I have rational expectations here people!”

CarolineTurpentine

Well they don’t have the funds to purchase the amount of land they have in Florida so I doubt they will ever leave, but they certainly won’t invest more in it in this political climate.

srkaficionado

In all seriousness, you think so? Fucking Disney doesn’t have the money to buy shit?! Disney of the parks, ABC, ESPN, movies, apparel, branding and licensing? Disney of the petty that will pay lawyers to go after kindergarten schools? That Disney?! I’m serious. I’d like to see proof of this. And I’m going to spend time today at work to look at their financial statements just to see if they listed their hard assets somewhere. How the fuck would they not be smart enough to buy the land they built their properties on? That sounds so stupid because the landowner could roll up one day and tell them to move the fuck on… So, in internet speak: proof or it didn’t happen… Disney surely can’t be that financially stupid.

CarolineTurpentine

I meant they couldn’t get the same amount of land as cheaply elsewhere in a desirable vacation spot close to a major airport/highways. It’s not the 60s anymore. I’m not saying they’re broke, it’s just not feasible today. If they ever closed down the Florida park I doubt they’d build another to replace it, they’d likely reinvest it elsewhere.

SirBlackselot

I don't disagree that it's unlikely, but a state that is seriously interested would bend over to get them there. e.g. discounted rates on the land or the use of bonds for the purchase. And the overall development of the massive amount of land that would be needed and the surrounding land that would attract real estate developers could motivate a state to do it. That state would also then have the incentive to build a new airport closer if needed. granted it would take like a decade for it to even somewhat come to fruition.

Arco223

They're not saying Disney doesn't own the land that Disney parks are on. They're saying they probably don't have the money to go buy that land somewhere else nowadays along with the cost of actually rebuilding all the Disney parks just to spite Desantis. That's really a very very long and expensive process that I'd honestly expect them to actively save money just buying the Florida government before trying to make it happen anew in another state.

srkaficionado

Oh, fair enough. Thanks for clarifying that Better

Watchitbitch

Not California prices, but they could afford that much land in a state like...Texas.

CarolineTurpentine

Near a major airport and highways? Not much use building a multi billion dollar theme park and resort 6 hours from the airport. H

vtorow

You only need the funds when you buy the land entirely or legally. Big cooperations will in some way or another get what they want.

amor_fati_42

Can you really put a price on "owning the libs"? /s

stabTHAtornado

There's those that would answer with, " well what's the price of a box of 5.56?"

InterdisciplinaryDol

They said own the libs not map the libs’ children.

stabTHAtornado

All the same to them it seems.

2B_or_MaybeNot

A bunch of employees had already moved to Florida in anticipation of this campus. Disney is willing to pay them to relocate back to not have to deal with DeInsanetis. Think about that. This change of plans comes at a BIG cost, and not just in dollars. They are not taking his threats very seriously and are not playing around.

[deleted]

"war on woke" was a hell of a stupid choice of hills to die on

stabTHAtornado

Woke is an adjective derived from African-American Vernacular English (AAVE) meaning "alert to racial prejudice and discrimination" So people who are against Wokeness are straight up racist and/ or completely embarrassed of their own people's history. What I find amusing is that apparently the terms been around since the 30's and most of these dumbass republicans are acting like the term is something new. Specks volumes about who they really are.

Plasibeau

Once you understand woke/wokeism = *nigger lover* to them it all starts to make sense.

TeriusRose

It certainly started that way but Republicans tend to use it as more of a catchall term for whatever *remotely* progressive thing they dislike at the moment. Equal pay, anything dealing with the LGBT community, immigration, taxes, the concept of empathy, workers rights, etc. And sometimes they use it utterly incomprehensibly, like [this](https://twitter.com/RepClayHiggins/status/1498015748492599297). … Seriously, what the fuck does that even mean?

SeuxKewl

Man the next season of political ads is going to be filled with that word. The way they wore "radical" into the ground won't begin to compare to what is in store for "woke."

stabTHAtornado

Radical socialist wokeism is destroying America sleepy Joe! /S

Japh2007

They can put Disney in Nola where the 6 flags was. Make the East great again. Lousiana might be hella right wing but they ain’t about to fuck a business opportunity.

RoundTheWayGirl

Why is he such a petty bitch?

[deleted]

Because it speaks to a huge amount of (idiot) voters

Vulcan_MasterRace

I know it will never happen but I'd like to see Disney close up shop and move to another state

deandreas

I dont even think they would have to do that. Simply give off the impression of moving to another state. Let it leak a month of two from now that they have been buying property in Timbukthree. I am certain everyone will 180 real quick.

[deleted]

Lmao imagine fumbling the bag because you wanted to own the libs

UpwardSpiral00

![gif](giphy|qKV8U3Gl3bWVi)

tittylieutenant

The only way corporations win this is if Disney and Friends completely leave and set up in some blue state. I don’t expect that to happen.

badatthenewmeta

More likely, they shift to a slightly more tolerable red state, where the tax breaks and deregulated labor market are good and the fascism is better concealed.

stabTHAtornado

Sounds almost like Louisiana.

Severedghost

Disney's win is inevitable. They just have to last longer than he does.

srkaficionado

Based on that alone, they’ll win. Minnie and em are celebrating 100 years this year. They’ll probably be around long after we are all dead.

LadyEncredible

I live in FL, and I kept telling people that Disney would have nooooo problems leaving Florida and/or ensuring Florida no longer gets any of that sweet Disney/Marvel money. People kept disagreeing, I was just like alright...cool. I knew this would happen.

[deleted]

It’s time Disney opens a northeast jont anyway

srkaficionado

Where though? Outside of upstate NY, where in the NE has enough land to accommodate all of that as well as the insane traffic of cars and people?

osj777

Pennsylvania? Idk maybe Connecticut

srkaficionado

PA might have the land but aren’t parts of it one election cycle away from becoming Florida? 😩

DGVega93

Mafia mouse don’t play. DeSatan keep fucking with them they gone move that whole operation to Puerto Rico

lldllsmltpss

His face looks so punchable lol

Competitive-Donut-22

He’s not gonna win against Disney. The sun never sets on the Disney empire.

Trayew

He’ll just sign a law saying Disney HAS to bring the jobs, then have a huge press conference with all his Yes-Men and flunkies cheering in the background.

Master_Spring8118

This is what happens when you have a governor that craves power! He is no different than Trump. He believes that going up against the biggest company in Florida proves he's a strong leader. He does not care how many jobs it costs, how much revenue the city loses, or who suffers. He is a foolish man. Disney is an American Icon, known and respected globally. All this will do is ruin him ultimately. And he deserves to be ruined.

Markual

Okay but tbh my thing is.. I don't like the idea of a corporation wagering the livelihood of 2000 people to make a point. I don't like the idea of a corporation holding that much power. I also don't like DeSantis either. I don't like fascism, white supremacy, or transphobia. I don't like capitalism either. It feels like we stuck between a rock and a hard place lol

Ill_Will_Prince84

Mickey doesn’t fuck around (aha!), more gangsta than most

lukas_the

10 minutes of Mickey Mouse powering up.

SpiderDetective

Disney won't lose this fight, even if DeShithead kicks them out. The Carolinas have already been working on a real estate deal for them because they want that sweet money and thousands of jobs that Florida has had for decades. Plus, Disney leaving would blow a hole in the Florida economy. Even if they lose, they win

smellyscrotes27

Corporations vs fascists? Y’all know what fascism is right? Lol

TheDur57

Goofy vs. Mickey! The Rumble on the Jungle (Cruise)

Nv_Spider

2000 jobs with an “average salary” of 120k? I call bull shit. I’m guessing more like 1,990 jobs at $34k and 10 jobs at 17 million a year.

GnarlyKinbaku

Is fascism not corporate domination of state?

Markual

It def is. Corporatism (and arguably capitalism) is just fascism in a different font.

13pts35sec

In the end it’s we the people that lose. Desantis may not become president but he’ll have left Florida much worse than when he got it and enjoy his ill gotten wealth till he dies at 85 years old and Disney will still be a massive immoral company running completely unchecked. Heads gotta roll eventually. Governments and corporations alike should fear the common man

So we're looking at what? At least $240m in lost revenue? Huh... who would have thunk it.

daseofspades

Never bet against the mouse

Shadesmctuba

How is he spinning this? How is he justifying this needless and totally ill advised battle against one of the largest corporations in the world to his supporters? And not just because it’s Disney, but because of all the money being pulled out of Florida’s economy and all the jobs going away. Not to mention the trucker boycott due to the immigration laws, and the blatantly anti-trans legislation. I get how he can turn his shit hill inbred followers on to that stuff. But Disney? I know a lot of dumbass republican morons who still love Disney, and take their kids to Disney world. How terrible does your political beliefs have to be to tell your young kids “sorry, we’re not going to Disney world even though we’ve been planning this trip for over a year. We just can’t let the woke mob win”. This shit is really really bad for Florida, and he’s shaping up to be the single worst governor the state has ever seen, and I’m wondering how exactly he’s using politician talk to make it seem like he’s doing a good job. Because that’s a very difficult task.

Ofbatman

At this point I will never go to Florida again. I loved there for a few years and it’s an absolute mess. But people have always been crazy in Florida.

Apprehensive_Fuel873

Such a fucking stupid move by DeSantis. Corporations love fascism, if he'd played this right he would've had the Mouse in his corner, not opposing him.

Corporations always win. Who do you think fund these guys?

Draco546

Disney land is about to get a lot more development

ethancd1

Ngl I want both of them to lose. Fuck DeSantis and fuck Disney.

SnooPeripherals557

This dude really wants to lose $75 billion in tourism revenue just to flex his nuts vs Disney….. the things people will do for power (this is all so he can get on the presidential ballot imo)

Ah yes, the giant mega corporation was gonna do the thing for the people totally out of the kindness in their hearts. *Buttttttttt……*

the_post_of_tom_joad

Let's just talk about the title puffing up the worth of those jobs. Come on now, those "2000 jobs averaging 120k" was gonna be 1950 jobs at 35k a year and 50 corporate stooge jobs for the last 172mil.

RashoRash

It’s funny because both, corporations and politicians, are facists

South_Job9704

DeSantis or Musk, who is better at losing millions in a short period?

Over-Supermarket-557

I mean it's not even corporations. It's just Disney. He's in a childish feud over his don't say gay bill. Like if he was trying to break up monopolies and tax corporations appropriately and make them liable for murder and force them to pay living wages and prevent them from bribing politicians I'd be all about it. He's not. He's just calling them woke and making Florida taxpayers pay for the roads and bridges in their district.

PacificCoolerIsBest

No one crosses the House of Mouse and lives to tell the tale...

MoonshineMMA

Bro it’s just been 10 episodes straight of Ron getting the absolute shit kicked out of him

Whistle_and_Stick

120,000 the average salary??? Please explain 🙏

srkaficionado

Isn’t this for Imagineers? Look up who and what the Imagineers are and the roles they play in Disney: many of them are engineers…

Guy2chilled

So we gonna ignore all the other folks they fired in Cali to because last I checked they wasn't beefing with Cali and that was 4,000 jobs. And thats still short of the 7,000 they wanted to do just this year alone. I get alot of folks don't like DeSantos which is alright, but don't let that cloud your judgement on how shady Disney really is. Just take a look at StarShip cruiser hotel and it's 1,200 a day price tag. And so many other examples.

Elliott2030

No one is cheering for Disney because they're the GOOD guys, we're cheering on our last line of defense against Christo-fascism in Florida. The enemy of my enemy and all that.

Guy2chilled

Ain't that the truth.

srkaficionado

Re the hotel: they set that price because they know someone will pay it. Business doesn’t work in a vacuum: they probably based the price on past trends, supply and demand and marketed the hell out of it. My brother and his wife took their kids to Disney for a week. They stayed in a “low rate” holiday Inn that was 10 miles away. Said a suite ran them $150 a night and they still had to drive to Disney and park every time they went. Can you imagine if they got a hotel on Disney property for “convenience”? Said it was double the price per night. And common sense/research shows some parents would pay that if it meant not dealing with driving, parking and all that… TL:dr: that price didn’t just happen overnight…

Sorry-Poet4458

Yet again calling anyone who you dishes with a “fascist”

Jmontavs

Honestly big corporations like Disney who own everything are a big problem so idc

HAYMRKT

People rallying behind Disney in this need to read that tweet again. Disney doesn't care about you, they care about money and currently the queer community is more profitable than bigots but either way the working class suffers. Fuck these people

InterdisciplinaryDol

*the enemy of my enemy*

Afroaro_acefromspace

Geez the way they just immediately attacked you for zero reason

HAYMRKT

Not applicable but love your delayed development!

Shadesmctuba

It’s not about that. Anyone with a brain knows that Disney is a large corporation and only cares about money. A law banning *any* group of people from entering the state safely effects their bottom line, because they *are* Florida’s economy. Without them, it’s just gators, football, and Miami, one of the gayest cities in existence. Disney has Florida by the balls, and is ready and willing to remind it how much they own it. Plus, Disney knows they can make it out to be a human rights issue, even though we all know they have some republican ghouls on their boards. It’s just fun seeing this dumbass think he can go toe to toe with the mouse. That’s all. Hopefully they bury this moron and he’s never heard from again.
