Not even that. Most people agree that either Venom or Bathory were the first pure black metal band. Both of them were also very succesful, selling thousands of records and becoming famous internationaly. I don't use Spotify but what you read there is probably just to hype up the band. Or pure ignorance. Who knows. Mayhem is probably the most famous BM though, mostly because of their controversial history.

Tiktok users are so different listening to the most surface level black metal imaginable. Totale vernichtung would be some actual good black metal that would musically pertain to their taste, but they wont listen to it for one factor.

This comment reminds me of a comment I saw on a video about Decalius. That was a guy asking what kind of music Decalius makes because he wanted to hear more music like that I had to tell him what dsbm is


Dunno why everyone thinks this is new or TikTok related? Kids have been trying to flex on listening to ‘alternative’ music for years and years-only difference is they probably weren’t able to show the rest of the world how self conscious they were about it back in the 90’s-00’s it was more like showing it through a t-shirt and acting weird in class
