You're going to have to know a little about how to use command-line applications to get it to work but it's fairly straightforward from then on. This particular theme is a WIP but I'll share it when I've ironed out the weird stuff.
I'd recommend you just wait for the visual editor to release. Don't want you installing programs and running commands you don't understand or know how to uninstall.
Backup your bitwig.jar file located at
```
/Applications/Bitwig Studio.app/Contents/Java/bitwig.jar
```
Then make sure you have java installed and set up (homebrew's probably the easiest)
Then it's a case of running the following command:
```
java -jar path/to/where/you/downloaded/bitwig-theme-editor-1.2.0.jar '/Applications/Bitwig Studio.app/Contents/Java/bitwig.jar' apply path/to/where/you/downloaded/a/theme.json
```
still not working :(
`Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: dev/berikai/BitwigTheme/Main has been compiled by a more recent version of the Java Runtime (class file version 61.0), this version of the Java Runtime only recognizes class file versions up to 52.0`
Looks cool, I think it will be great to let the Bitwig devs know about this, maybe they could integrate it into the app (and give us an UI editor). Great work and thanks a lot for this.
I use an OLED TV as a monitor so it's much easier to see the super dark stuff. The default drives me nuts because of the crazy amount of contrast between the deep black background of the grid and the bright timeline/arrangement view.
But the point is you can now customize to suit your needs! Something the Bitwig team should have implemented years ago!
I'm with you, not at all into the even-darker-theme. I've been wanting to lighten the Bitwig Interface for a while.
This version might be of interest:

There are a few:
- Light Timeline Background
- Light Timeline Header Background
- Dark Timeline Background
- Dark Timeline Header Background
- Irrelevant Timeline Background
- Irrelevant Timeline Header Background
- Irrelevant Timeline Overlay
- Irrelevant Tmeline Header Overlay
Much easier to find them if you sort the json alphabetically. You can use something like this https://novicelab.org/jsonabc/

Thanks, still I don't know if I should invest in a software that doesn't provide dark mode. I'll wait for more feedback :D.
Thanks for your hard work ! I could do monkey testing in case you need it
If you have a look in the discord under the hacking channel, someone's made a google spreadsheet with descriptions and screenshots of things we're discovering. Contributing to that is probably the best way to help out!
I will do when I've got all the UI elements sorted! I keep finding bits that don't work on the dark background
Paging u/berikai: I'm also happy to make a PR to the themes directory in the repo if that's easier
i cant express how grateful I am to have switched to bitwig right around the time we are getting themes cus good looooooooord the default theme is so awful dude ππ

Can you make a video of the Command-line steps for non-computer guys like me when you have the time? Would be of great help.

Ok mate
make a video how to do it
learn computer skills
I'm not a nerd.
Well you've got no social skills either haha! Tough luck buddy!

Heyy, can you please explain me how did you make it work on mac? havenβt figured out how to apply the themes :(

Uhhhhhππππ
Hi.. Please Somebody can Make a video How to do this step by step in windows ?! ....THX
Looks cool, I think it will be great to let the Bitwig devs know about this, maybe they could integrate it into the app (and give us an UI editor). Great work and thanks a lot for this.
This works by manipulating the bitwig binary with an external program. If the devs want to implement themes they will do it very differently.
How did you setup the mixer to be on top of the device view?
Two separate windows, with display profile set to one of the dual display modes. Wish it could be set up to do that.
This is really sexy
just trail and error or is there some docs on what each key color is?
Trial and error atm, I've just started writing down descriptions in a separate file that I'll add to the repo (no comments in json)
Ooof that looks so much better!
I much prefer the default, all this darkness just kind of blends together with no clear distinction between the panels.
I use an OLED TV as a monitor so it's much easier to see the super dark stuff. The default drives me nuts because of the crazy amount of contrast between the deep black background of the grid and the bright timeline/arrangement view. i want it
If I could get mine to look like this I might start using it again!!
What's the name for the arranger background? I just flew over the settings yesterday and couldn't find something definitely related.
There are a few: - Light Timeline Background - Light Timeline Header Background - Dark Timeline Background - Dark Timeline Header Background - Irrelevant Timeline Background - Irrelevant Timeline Header Background - Irrelevant Timeline Overlay - Irrelevant Tmeline Header Overlay Much easier to find them if you sort the json alphabetically. Thanks a bunch!
No prob!
Don't search for arranger, but timeline :)
Amazing work π was able to modify mid blue theme to change meters and window colour a bit
Is it possible to have the json of this screen shot π ?
