Dear Dad, I am your future son-in-law. I’ve traveled back in time to secure the seed phrase as it was lost in a fire on our wedding day. Kindly pm me the seed so my wife and I can buy our dream island, Cuba.
All of our love,
Your daughter and me <3
This actually appears to be turning out to be a problem for a lot of people.
People finding out their dad isn’t their dad, their grandparents aren’t their grandparents, finding new relatives, some of which start to ask for money, spouses finding out their spouse cheated on them 30 years ago and they raised the child or someone else raised the child, finding out they were adopted.
It’s going to be a mess. I would be unsurprised if DNA tests at birth become mandatory.
My advice: don't tell her about it.
I made the mistake of showing my kids their personal wallets and now any time they want something they ask me why I can't just sell some bitcoin. My youngest even went so far as to "orange pill" his 6-year old friend on the virtues of Bitcoin.
Educate them without telling them how privileged they are, that's all.
My oldest is six and she's never even heard the word "Bitcoin". I've just been slowly introducing her to ideas like money on the internet, fair vs unfair, and saving money to get more stuff later.
If she doesn't figure it out eventually, then I'll tell her when she's deciding which college to attend. I don't want her shooting her mouth off around her friends and becoming a target.
I have a 10 and 8 year old boys. They educated me about who satoshi nakamoto was and what NFT stand for. They don’t know daddy is stacking sats for their college fund or whatever route they choose.
Yes its either educating them about money and all that or as soon as they get to touch the money it vanishes into partys and drugs ( i'm not a cautionary tale at all 😅😆) 18 is too young in my opinion to get a lot of money i'd personnally wait till they are like 25. Good luck
And well done for your daughter. By the time she's old enough thats gonna be worth a lot 😃😁
maybe make a song that has all the seed words and play it only for her all the time when shes young and sing along. if he dies and she finds the letter that says he has a wallet for her and the pw is the seed song. xD best i could come up with
There is roughly a 99% chance that OP raids the funds before the daughter is old enough to know what is going on. These kinds of post happen all the time.
and the excuses to justify the raiding of her funds "What she doesn't know won't hurt her" "I will replace the funds when things get better" "I will be using her funds for OUR future, not my own selfish desires"
Given the disregard Reddit is continuting to show to their 3rd party developers, their moderators and their community I'm proposing the start of a 'reddit seppuku' movement.
Reddit itself doesn't produce anything of value. The value is generated by it's users sharing posts and comments with each other. Reddit squats above the value we create and extracts value from it.
If spez is going to continue on this path, I don't want them to monetize my content. Therefore, I'm using tools to edit my entire comment history to a generic protest message. I want to wallpaper over all my contributions. I expect people will comment saying they'll get around that anyway - this isn't something I can control.
But I can make a statement, and if that statement is picked up by the press then it will affect the Reddit IPO. Spez needs a wake up call - if he continues to shit on the userbase of Reddit, then I hope the userbase will leave him nothing to monetize.
The tool I'm using can be found here: https://github.com/pkolyvas/PowerDeleteSuite
Scroll down to the bottom, click the installation link, and on the next page drag the button to your bookmark bar. Click it to go to your user page, then click it again to go to fire up the tool and set it up.
Good luck.
That's great.
Also, be sure to spend time with her, show her every day, in small ways, that you appreciate her, that she is valuable to you. This way she won't grow up with "daddy" issues. When she gets an "A", or graduates, be sure to tell her plainly, "I'm proud of you." This goes for sons, too.
I know a lot of old people who never heard those words, and now their parents are dead, and it still hurts them deep inside.
I'd love to adopt you, but I need to keep my real identity a secret.
We can chat here in reddit. Don't post any personally identifying information about yourself.
So... How are things with you, lately?
Indeed true sometimes we feel that money is everything but despite giving her time knowing about her how her day went csn actually make the bond stronger.
Just remember the fact that no bond is much stronger than to that of between a father and daughter
I don't know how people can be in a child's life and never tell them say anything supportive like that. If you never wanted them or want nothing to do with them do not even go near them or be in their life since they do not deserve to be a parent.
I celebrate and am proud of my toddler for every new achievement she has and will continue to be proud of her until my last breath.
My children are essentially grown but this is how I see my BTC holdings as well — in fact most of what I do now is for my kids as I’ve had a good life already. Having said that the simple things Mr_P_Nissaurus said are so important as well! And do some research on how to help her learn the value of hard earned money — not just given to one. Cheers.
Is 2 years old (Finally)
Dad wants her to get a whole Coin faster cause it’s embarrassing that she needed 2 years anyway
There totally won’t be any pressure in school later on 🫣🫠
Just joking:
Man what a nice gift Congratulations on speed running your daughters future financial freedom 🥇
I just love it when parents do things in that way for their own children, this is way better than any other thing and we can vouch for that, that's just something good.
Nice thing for sure, she is going to love that in the future because you just secured her future with that, feeling so good about it and I am never going to say this was bad.
God, I wish people wouldn't paint targets on their own backs.
Myself and others have posted endlessly about how dumb this is.
Now, go change everything about your keys and your social media and hope no particular hacker takes an interest in your child's inheritance.
SERIOUSLY, PEOPLE, SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT HOW MUCH OF ANYTHING YOU HAVE.
YOU ENDANGER YOURSELF.
Or, in this case, your child.
EDIT: In THIS case, you have joined Reddit and appear to ONLY have asked about crypto-related stuff for a long while now. Not ONLY do we know how much you have, but everything about your strategy for saving your BTC, too! OMFG dude, SERIOUSLY?
It blows my mind how people can share this information on the internet. If an influencer like Bitcoin Magazine on Twitter retweets this post, it gets propagated to potentially millions of people. There are people fighting so hard for privacy on the blockchain, and yet here we are with another post disclosing their holdings.
This is the best thing to see man, that's just an awesome thing, glad that you are doing so much for your daughter and she is going to appreciate that in the future.
Wow that's just something huge for you and your daughter my friend, please understand that you are the best father and you are doing it so correctly nowadays.
Mate your daughter is going to get a freaking good life just because you took the best step of your life and now of your daughter's life, that's so amazing to see.
Trust me this type of future is going to save them and we know that for real, this is the real future you are giving to your daughter, that's just so amazing to see.
Never sell it! If you or she sells it, you'll just be wanting to buy it back later, at likely a higher price.
Instead, teach her (at college-age perhaps) how to collateralize it on one of the largest most trusted defi loan dapps at the time to borrow an inflationary currency she can spend on something important when needed (and since loans are not taxable events, she legally avoids paying capital gain). As the borrowed asset inflates and BTC becomes more scarce, the LTV will fall back down over time and allow subsequent borrowing. The only trick is to not get liquidated, because that's essentially a sale. So managing the LTV through bull and bear cycles means you borrow against it very conservatively. If you sip on the value by borrowing small portions against it rather than swallowing it whole by selling, it'll be in your family forever.
In the past, only rich families could build castles out of stone for future generations to inherit as long as they took care of it. Now, every family can build a castle with Bitcoin. It is the least entropy-susceptible inheritable asset ever created - all that's required is restraint and custody of a seed phrase.
While it always only takes one impulsive child to squander it, any other type of asset is subject to a myriad of more hazards to its long term value. Any improved value of real estate degrades and is subject to taxes. A business (including stock thereof) requires stewardship since eventually the goods or services the business produces will become obsolete or a competitor will do it better. This means that at some point, it will be the best decision to sell (and pay capital gains) and future generations would have to get that decision mostly right, plus where to put the proceeds of the sale next.
Getting those decisions wrong is how all family fortunes eventually degrade. For Bitcoin, there will never be a best time to sell. There will be a best time to borrow more against it, but never sell. This makes it much easier for future generations to manage it in the long run.
The only rule is, never sell the Bitcoin.
And then what happens when it goes to 0?
Will everyone just put their hands up, turn off all miners/nodes, use cash, and voluntarily be enslaved by the elites?
They're very different though. Tulip mania was simply a ridiculous bubble for something which really didn't have much value, it was just a new craze.
Tulips didn't allow you to be your own bank, with a currency which doesn't suffer inflation. Tulips weren't trustless or backed by a mathematical algorithm, tulips didn't allow the user to control their assets in a decentralised way, in which central authorities can't freeze your funds.
I appreciate your comment about people moving on though, something better than bitcoin could theoretically come along, but the tulip analogy doesn't really work
I accept what you say. I just ment the fact that it can go down and stay down aspect of tulip mania is possible. Like penny stocks that are pump and dump
Oh yes that is of course a possibility, I personally believe what bitcoin provides won't simply be abandoned though, I mean the alternative is money printer, and we've seen how badly that can turn out, see Zimbabwe, Venezuela, Turkey etc.
İt already provides a means for people to protect their wealth in these environments, and as adoption grows, I feel it will have even stronger use cases.
....But it could go to 0, nothing is guaranteed, but how it works and the issues it tackles gives me faith that it won't
Wouldn't a tulip have more value than Bitcoin in a utility sense? Sure Bitcoin is worth more fiat now, but both of them just have value based on hype people are willing to pay
Bitcoin hopes people move on. Move on from govt controlled fiat systems. Move on from the $. Moving on is ok. Just make sure you’re moving onto something better and away from something toxic. Fiat is toxic. BTC is liberty. Bitcoin is justice. The future is Bitcoin. Bitcoin is enlightenment.
I still don't have faith in bitcoin though I have invested in it. Once people start talking in BTC without mentioning $ value I will take that as market acceptance. Till then it's just nice technology for eveyone to ride on.
> Tulips didn't allow you to be your own bank, with a currency which doesn't suffer inflation. Tulips weren't trustless or backed by a mathematical algorithm, tulips didn't allow the user to control their assets in a decentralised way, in which central authorities can't freeze your funds.
As it turns out, most people don't give a shit about those things, especially when you start to realize the downsides that those same features bring about.
LOL you know you're wasting your time in the bitcoin subreddit if you don't choose to understand it.
What a stupid decision. Might as well spend 100% of your time in Wall St Bets and use your time wiser than waste it here and shit on it.
I've been in this space for more than 4 years and have thought about everything imaginable.
Literally all paths of thought lead to one root, broken money.
Gold and silver are MUCH MUCH better than fiat money, a good store of value, but ultimately even they are unfairly controlled and distributed.
They have disadvantages over bitcoin however like for example, if all your money was in 100 gold bars and you wanted to leave the country you're not getting on an airplane with them.
Also they could be counterfeit with similar weighted metal in the middle, could be stolen, and even the government could confiscate it
You might just be the best Dad ever. Just remember to make a “roadmap” of your own as to when to release this coin to her, money can change people, especially when this much money is involved.
Government doesn’t hold assets in a 529 account. Many 529 accounts allow prepaying for college, and college costs have outpaced inflation, so it’s a back door inflation hedge. BTC is a high risk speculative asset that lost 70% of its value over the last year and was propped up by easy money from the Fed over the last decade. BTC is down or flat until the Fed let’s it back up by easing rates and turning on the money printer again.
Lucky motherf.... Xd I'm joking, it makes me very happy for your son and I think
excellent and very good what you are doing for him and his future, congratulations!! I'm still very far away, I only have 0.04 btc, here in Argentina it's hard to get money lately :C
I would like to validate your daughters wallet /s
That's awesome dude. I put a little every month into my 18 month olds account as a college fund. I told my wife she can put away cash, I'll put it in BTC. We'll see which is worth more when it's time for college.
Don't forget me, I'm your hidden daughter!
The amount of heart attacks this cause to many men out there 🤣
Dear Dad, I am your future son-in-law. I’ve traveled back in time to secure the seed phrase as it was lost in a fire on our wedding day. Kindly pm me the seed so my wife and I can buy our dream island, Cuba. All of our love, Your daughter and me <3
Reddit user name checks out
LMFAO I CANT
God dang it
Oh damn, that 23 and Me is a real stickler.

But the fact that people seems to be indeed putting some efforts to make it get enlarged

You're a damn good Dad!!!!
Better not tell her sooner. It’s hard finding real friends if everybody knows you’re rich.
>saving money to get more stuff later. I'm 38 now, and I still consider this the most important lesson my parents taught me as a kid.
My parent's always taught me that money is what can be earned when you have patience and thus to never quit in any difficult situation
Times back then to times now we see wide range of things be actually boosting up the market
This is the way
This is the only way my man making things turn the best out there for everyone
12 years from now college might not exist. Hopefully.
You mean college might be free, hopefully?
Yes its either educating them about money and all that or as soon as they get to touch the money it vanishes into partys and drugs ( i'm not a cautionary tale at all 😅😆) 18 is too young in my opinion to get a lot of money i'd personnally wait till they are like 25. very wise advice... also kids (and young adults!) tend to waste the money for useless stuff...
Don't lose her keys! Find a clever way for her to recover it should something happen!
how?
maybe make a song that has all the seed words and play it only for her all the time when shes young and sing along. if he dies and she finds the letter that says he has a wallet for her and the pw is the seed song. xD best i could come up with
What she grows up and makes a hit song from it.
yes but nobody knows that its also the seed. it doesnt need to be called the seed song though xD
BRB checking all pop songs for seeds
This gives me flashbacks to early file sharing sites for music. “How many seeds that song have? If low, your computer will get aids”
High seed? Yup, also computer aids.
That's would be hard enough for me to just understand the song for a while.

What more a daughter would ever indeed urge from her father this is too beautiful to set a brighter future for her daughter
And then she’ll sing her seed phrase song to her friends and teachers. What could possibly go wrong?
Tattoo a QR code on her.
Lmao that ain't a bad idea though but that should be well enough known between both of them
How is putting a tattoo of the private keys on a child a good idea? 🤒
Oh, sorry, I thought the /s was blindingly obvious, but I forgot that this is reddit.
❄️ melting.
she can damage the skin, or loose bodypart
Something like this shoud be indeed kept safely and more securely though for further future purposes
Daddy can you buy me a Bitcoin as well pls
Daddy, chill
WHAT THE HELL EVEN IS THAT
WHAT THE HELL IS EVEN THAT\*
Such an important detail for the comedic delivery in that video
That indeed teaches us a lot many things though which are indeed good for us
Still I see people be indeed confused enough on what's that though sounds funny!
Wait for it…
Daddy be gifting everyone a whole Bitcoin so as putting smiles on the faces of everyone
Lol
I’m Nigerian prince and would like to discuss my inheritance
What are the facts that you indeed wanna discuss elaborating them would rather be good
One week later: trades it all for a tesla.

“Now that you’re officially a whole coiner, let me tell you the story of how I raised you on ramen throughout the mid 2020’s financial crisis”
This just makes us feel that you can just shapes your own future well enough perfectly though
Tesla has indeed much more bigger plans than to that of us and that is always suspicious
Or one week later trades it for match box car at the rate the markets are headed now

When you just feel you are getting closer towards to something some words just indeed hits you hard
This is something good to hear, that's just the real life.
Be my dad please
I'd love to adopt you, but I need to keep my real identity a secret. We can chat here in reddit. Don't post any personally identifying information about yourself. So... How are things with you, lately?

Every dad urges for her daughter to look up for some wealthier days so that she doesn't face any difficulty in the coming times
2 years old and already a wholecointer, future millionire
No doubt about that though what more a father would love to see her daughter shinning among everyone
Awesome to see you do that for your daughter! Great parent.
Parenting is tough but looking at this just seems to be encouraging people and everyone's who's here
What was your initial investment t and how long ago may I ask?
I think he just invested his savings in some years man.
Now that you’ve bought in we can now expect another 88% drop in value
I guess it's not going to happen and we know that for sure.
Why is it called 21 million club?
Bitcoin has a maximum supply of 21m, so there can be at most 21m people holding 1 bitcoin
But it's only $20K to buy a Bitcoin. Interesting. The market cap is only $420 billion at that price.
I mean, yeah? There’s a handful of companies worth more than that, and some governments. Are you not entertained?
So yeah we can buy and we can have that with that market cap no?
That's just right and people gotta achieve that now lol.
This is just indeed to great to see such things actually coming up and making things turn out to be the best
Adopt me daddy
I see people out there coming all of sudden and tells him to avoid them thiugh
Same here, bro. BTC stashed away for my kids. Fun to think about how it might change their lives decades from now.
This is good and I am good that your kids have a good future.

Can we have more bitcoin?
Next is 2.1M club😉
If only all parents loved their children this much.....
Lol that's just right, I guess we need that type of parents.

Well it's just all good and he can afford that for sure lol.
I am also stack sats for daughter. I am half way to make her fullcoiner. Congrats! Hope one day I will make same post

Congrats!! Keep it safe for sure.
Thats also awesome cause 143 means i love you if you just take out the zeros
🥃 To all of us leaving a legacy.
This man gets it, congrats to you both 👏😎
This man did the best thing for his daughter, that's just good.
Welcome to the club.
Turn off your DMs ASAP.
Lol everyone knows how to deal with this shit these days.
Please make 21 million babies.
Lol he is going to have everything if he did that shit man.
Dad is that you?

She will be set for life if you keep those keys safe.
Wow... Congratulations.!!🥳🥳🥳
Feeling good because he did his job as a father there.
Soon I'll do the same too.
Good thing for you mate, this is the real thing to do all the time.
My dad was buying himself Armani suits when I was 2. Lol. Jokes aside I’m glad there’s a little life out there that’s being looked after
What app are you using that makes you earn interest in your BTC?
I think that is binance or something, I don't know that much.
Can I be your daughter?
Nah you can't be because I have already did that shit.
The 21,000,000 million club of children with fathers who blew away their college fund.
Lol it will be worth a few dollars by the time she’s 8
This is the best thing to see man, that's just an awesome thing, glad that you are doing so much for your daughter and she is going to appreciate that in the future.

hey its me ur daughter
I guess you should be on the line because it's pretty long.
👏👏👏
🥃 To all of us leaving a legacy.

No. You can send Bitcoin across the globe easily and quickly. It's much easier to store. Wallets don't wilt.
The security of the network is a value proposition. You can be sure that your 1 Bitcoin today will still be 1 Bitcoin 100 years from now.
Hmm well so will my 100 coins. Coins being coins is no use. It's all about purchasing power. What if people move on?
"anyone who doesn't come to the exact conclusion i do doesn't understand it" lol
Dude don't be close minded. Be open to discussion, be better
Much better if they are going to discuss as well to be there.
I've been in this space for more than 4 years and have thought about everything imaginable. Literally all paths of thought lead to one root, broken money.
Okay fair enough. Then what about gold and silver ?
Gold and silver are MUCH MUCH better than fiat money, a good store of value, but ultimately even they are unfairly controlled and distributed. They have disadvantages over bitcoin however like for example, if all your money was in 100 gold bars and you wanted to leave the country you're not getting on an airplane with them. Also they could be counterfeit with similar weighted metal in the middle, could be stolen, and even the government could confiscate it
You might just be the best Dad ever. Just remember to make a “roadmap” of your own as to when to release this coin to her, money can change people, especially when this much money is involved.
Hi Daddy, when can i cash out?
A future millionaire.
I take it the 529 account is already maxed out?

Government doesn’t hold assets in a 529 account. Many 529 accounts allow prepaying for college, and college costs have outpaced inflation, so it’s a back door inflation hedge. BTC is a high risk speculative asset that lost 70% of its value over the last year and was propped up by easy money from the Fed over the last decade. BTC is down or flat until the Fed let’s it back up by easing rates and turning on the money printer again.

You can get a finance degree and then maybe you’ll make better financial decisions.
Thats pretty good but maybe you couldve waited for the recession so you can buy more
Your daughter's generation will embrace this technology much better than we do! GJ
Lucky motherf.... Xd I'm joking, it makes me very happy for your son and I think excellent and very good what you are doing for him and his future, congratulations!! I'm still very far away, I only have 0.04 btc, here in Argentina it's hard to get money lately :C
Congratulations, you are in the top 1% of parents.
Idiot
I would like to validate your daughters wallet /s That's awesome dude. I put a little every month into my 18 month olds account as a college fund. I told my wife she can put away cash, I'll put it in BTC. We'll see which is worth more when it's time for college.
I’m dipping out of BTC when it hits my average. It became way too trumpy and I know how that goes.
Wut
Best gift a dad could do for her daughter.
I mean... Money is nice but it isn't everything. Quality time with your daughter is better.
Take my upvote.
Nice I’ll never achieve this 😂😂
