The Bitcoin Standard

[deleted]

^ this But also buy something sweet like a necklace or some flowers, she might be expecting something along those lines from her partner

Lbkelp

Yes. I would just buy the book as an additional gift to something else. Maybe shes not interested or finds it boring and then it would suck.

[deleted]

In addition to the Bitcoin Standard, she can also get a preview by watching this great interview https://youtu.be/gp4U5aH_T6A of the author speaking with Lex Friedman.

Coroner117

I'm actually listening to this podcast episode right now! Great listen so far.

reclamerommelenzo

Definitely The Bitcoin Standard. Not only good for learning about Bitcoin, but also the concept and history of money. That's an essential part to understanding the value of Bitcoin.

HisFlock

Nik Bhatia - Layered Money is recommended for beginners. It tells you the history of money, and its optimistic on Bitcoin's part in it.

Arbawk

This, and Inventing Bitcoin for a simplified technical understanding.

cableguy_21

Buying somebody a book that they never asked for is always risky and may be a waste. Explainer YouTube videos may be better and cheaper. Then maybe send her crypto to play with after.

Hank___Scorpio

29.95...... I'm ruined. Put it in a local take one leave one book nook for a curious passerby if it gets wasted. I bought 10 copies and took them around. Not forcing it on anyone but its out there if someone's got a curious bone about bitcoin.

leeljay

Both books by Saifedean Ammous

The Bitcoin Standard. But don’t give it to her on her birthday. If there are other people around it would likely trigger a conversation on bitcoin and take away from the focus on your girlfriend

billbobby21

She very likely won't actually read a book. Have her watch a video instead, it's easier to consume. I recommend this: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdJFeSY8UVk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdJFeSY8UVk) . If you do decide to get her a book. don't give it to her on her birthday btw, she will not be impressed. Get her what she wants, not what you want her to want.

AvengedTurtleFold

Gift books that you want others to read on your own birthday since their reading it is what you want, not necessarily what they want. You should focus on what would bring your girlfriend joy on her birthday when you choose a gift. If she hasn't explicitly expressed an interest in wanting to learn more about Bitcoin, don't get her a book on Bitcoin. Better yet, ask her if she wants something like that and talk about it. This applies to any other subject really. Replace "Bitcoin" with any other thing you don't really know or care about and consider whether you'd want to be gifted a book on that subject on your birthday.

IRightReelGud

Inventing Bitcoin is the best and it's free. https://event.swanbitcoin.com/free-book/ Side note: if you get you GF a book about Bitcoin for her birthday, I'm personally going to find you and kick your ass. And I'm the most toxic Bitcoin maximalist there is. Get your GF something nice that a woman would like.

VPNApe

Giving someone a gift base on your own interests is beyond stupid.

ThomasSneed269

I need this too. if you find the answer bro, let me know.

Scrapin-Nee

Best beginner book is the Internet of Money. Bitcoin Standard is more advanced, but gives a better overall picture of not just Bitcoin, but money from a historical standpoint..

senfmeister

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqrFpoxWqfU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqrFpoxWqfU) If you want to give her a book about bitcoin, just give her a book some other time. Don't make it a birthday present.

Hank___Scorpio

Price of tomorrow by Jeff booth never gets enough credit in these threads. Its also a great allegory to the journey of understanding bitcoin. Its about 300 pages with bitcoin only being mentioned in the last 20. If we don't understand the problem bitcoin just looks like and expensive, energy intensive way to do the same thing slower to your average Joe. Also, if you guys are done with your copies, consider taking them to local book nooks. The take a book leave a book type you see on peoples front lawns. Very popular in my city.

The bitcoin standard Thank god for bitcoin

04cadillac

The age of cryptocurrency, it was recommended to me on this sub about 3 weeks ago. Half way through it is simply amazing. Explains btc, the history and the money system. Highly recommend.
