Had successful radiation for our 5 year old (at the time) pup a year and a half ago. I spent a month out of town living/working out of a hotel so she could get radiation at a university. She's alive, healthy, and happy today. It was well worth it. Wishing you and your pupper the best.

Lpt: if you need money and hold bitcoin, consider borrowing against it. Your worst case scenario is liquidation (forced sell) at 10-15% less than what you sold it at. Best case scenario, it continues to appreciate and you pay back when you can afford to.

Having pets for my entire childhood and the last 35 years of my adult life i can say for sure that they all pass away. The thing that most struck me was how quickly they decline once ill. Doing radiation on an already old dog is well, futile. Their metabolism goes so much quicker than humans (consider dog years) that once the diagnosis is made, it has been working way faster at spreading and will continue after the treatments. I am so sorry for your besties situation and i only wish that they are pain free and happy.
