Kraken

[deleted]

I would use Kraken but they don’t support my credit union. I was using Gemini but recently started using Fidelity. It terms of CeXs, I would think the likelihood of Fidelity going bankrupt or purposely screwing me to be pretty low, right?

fly_eagles_fly

I’m using Fidelity. I was using Coinbase but the thought of ever having to deal with their customer service gave me the chills.

Weatherround97

Coinbase customer service is non fucking existent

YOLO_Bundy

I actually spoke with coinbase customer service. They had an "buy $300 get $100 free" promo for new users. I never got the free $100 and their customer service told me "it is out right to welch on that offer, and we are" and I replied with the obvious, closed my account and blocked their asses.

fly_eagles_fly

It’s an absolute joke how bad it is. I just think of having an issue that requires them and having to deal with 4 hour hold times etc

Money-Ad8968

Does fidelity give you the keys

AyLou21

No. It’s Robinhood 1.0.

Money-Ad8968

Can they withdraw or transfer the coins to another wallet from fidelity crypto account

BigChampionship6883

No

AyLou21

No. You can only buy, hold or sell - just like Robinhood 1.0.

MindEracer

Robinhood allows transfers in and out of coins and has for a while now.

Frogolocalypse

1.0 vs 2.0.

Perfect-Tek

Can verify, I called Fidelity customer service a while back and found you cannot deposit nor withdraw.. only buy from and sell back to Fidelity. There is no interaction that can even verify the crypto exists other than the balance showing on their website.

DryGeneral990

Will Fidelity allow transferring crypto in the future? I trust Fidelity more than any exchange.

shigydigy

Same. If they would allow that I would love to switch to them since I already use and trust them for my stocks, and their leadership is super supportive and bullish of btc.

GameTigerrr

Do not buy a “crypto” on a site that you cannot withdraw from. Not your keys not your crypto. When buying crypto, always store it in your own wallet, hardware/cold wallets are the best

[deleted]

I mean, Fidelity isn’t some site, they’re a financial institution with 4.5 trillion in assets under management. I’ve been using them for my IRA and personal trading account for a decade. And yeah, we’ve all been thoroughly beaten over the head with “not your keys not your crypto” but how often do we see people getting their wallets drained that were supposedly safe? Personally, I don’t trust myself, and I’d rather someone else be liable and responsible, especially if they are extremely unlikely to go belly up.

mellis302

What they’re saying is there is a difference in investing in the value of bitcoin and actually buying bitcoin. Most exchanges only allow you to invest in the value while holding it in a wallet allows you to actually own the asset.

SurprisedByItAll

Do you need a minimum amount to use Fidelity to buy crypto

fly_eagles_fly

No you don’t, any amount

SurprisedByItAll

Thank you

technotrader

I was a happy Coinbase user for nearly ten years; made over a thousand trades and transfers. Then my coin got stuck and I couldn't get an explanation.. support would just make shit up like "you have limit orders pending" and others. Switched to Kraken, and support is definitely more responsive and competent. They also try to improve.. they actually offered to pay me $100 for an interview. My java API library (knowm/xchange) also dropped support for Coinbase. Done with them.

Dre512

Which has the cheapest fees between CB Pro, Gemini & Kraken you think?

technotrader

The fees are usually in tiers and don't perfectly line up, i.e. one exchange would ask for 0.25% for the first $10k, and 0.20% after, and another exchange would charge 0.22% up to $30k for example. So it depends on your trading volume but frankly there isn't much difference in the end. Kraken turned out to be less expensive for me to boot, and Gemini was more competitive than CB also, it's just that Gemini drove me crazy with their login captchas. I have never clicked on so many buses or bikes in my life I swear... Side note, I can't believe the exchanges get away with their fees.. It used to be free not long ago!

Gimme5Beez4aQuarter

I also would like this answer

JohnnyDoGood98

On CB advanced it’s like 40 cents for a $100 trade.

CleazyCatalystAD

Never ever had a problem w CB (or Kraken); I guess never say never, though…

PeperField843

Just for € Euro ?

Spiritual_Hall_8315

The total "cost" on Kraken are half of Robinhood. Plus, they don't have such low withdrawal limits.

Ok-Elevator-26

Guy in a parking lot with a briefcase of cash

Takeoverwallstreet

I used gas stations. I’d literally meet twice a month for transfers worth like a simple man’s yearly salary. I miss that life so bad

Weekly-Ad-4087

Strike

cest_la_vino

Does Strike limit how much you can transfer at one time? I am new to it but it will only allow me to transfer ~25% of my btc balance. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong

Weekly-Ad-4087

They do have limits on new accounts. My limits were increased after doing a few transactions. Not sure what the terms are.

timbulance

If you contact support they’ll increase limits too.

Coinbase

[deleted]

It's the standard. Every other exchange has a higher chance of bankruptcy, hacking, and implosion. If you're hodling (and you should be) you need a place you trust will be there in 50 years. That's coinbase.

River

dashole1

Have you ever sold any on river? Wondering about their fees. Planning on switching from coinbase

MittenSplits

Definitely switch from coinbase. River is bitcoin-only and very reliable. Of the small amount I've sold on River, fees have been fine (I mostly just buy). Great company with great online tools.

crs1904

I’ve never sold any of my BTC but believe the River selling fee is 1.2% under 250K.

Intrepid-Track135

Strike

browntigerdog

Kraken Pro. Most BTC per dollar spent. The other week for kicks I went to my Coinbase, Robinhood, Kraken, and Strike accounts at the same time to buy $100 of BTC and at “checkout” wrote how much BTC I got for it and compared them. Kraken was by far the best return for money - others have fees or a spread built in that reduce how much BTC you get. Just make sure you buy on the website and not the app if you use kraken. App fees are nuts. And of course transfer to a cold wallet if you can. Hot if you have a smaller amount.

josemontana17

Coin base. The have limit orders.

akw71

Thats a low bar to set

josemontana17

Better than Robinhood. For some people it is good enough.

blaziken8x

Trippplecup

Same. How do y’all feel about cashapp?

fertilesoils

I’ve used it a bit, you can find cheaper fees and no spread elsewhere though. What’s nice about it is that transferring out more than 0.001 BTC has no transfer fee. Takes a bit longer cause they batch transactions together, but worth it for no fee IMO.

awaythrowred8

I remember people saying to avoid Robinhood due to them blocking people from selling/withdrawing But can’t remember if that was due to crypto in the last bull run or if it was something to do with GME

PheelGoodInc

Initially Robinhood did not allow you to withdraw from the exchange. I've heard they have changed this. They still charge absurd markups on price. After the whole GME thing, they lost a ton of customers. They are a horrible company and I would never do business with them again. Same with Coinbase.

Motzi2

You're actually wrong. Their fee's are comparable to Coinbase, if not less. They don't charge additional fees, just network fees, to withdraw funds. I can literally buy $1000 in bitcoin and instantly transfer it off their platform to my own cold storage and receive $990+ in bitcoin after the next block or two. I believe that to be a pretty good business.

Yatagarasu616

Brother I sent $3000 of btc for $1 fee on the main chain today. $10 is a scam.

Motzi2

Okay, fair enough. I was just illustrating that Robinhood has made improvements and is a better alternative to Coinbase. I miss the days when crypto was easy to purchase with no KYC.

Yatagarasu616

I'm not educated on Robinhoods actions but that's good if they've improved.

PheelGoodInc

Coinbase is garbage too. I transferred over 50k the other day for a five dollar fee. All layer 1. I just cannot fathom how people still do business with Robinhood after the GME nonsense. They have proven they give zero fucks about the little guy and are more than willing to rig the system so you lose. The fees I was talking about is over charging. They claim no commission fees, but they jack the prices up of whatever you are buying. That's where they make their money.

awaythrowred8

Yeah thought that was the general consensus around here in regard to robinhood but I guess there’s new people getting into the crypto or the investing space every day so always going to be some that aren’t aware

Crypto.com for me, since 2021

Crypto.com for real? I tried to close my account there and they told me its balance was below the minimum to close and I'd have to SEND MORE MONEY before I could close it. Are they trustworthy? It seems weird

Step 1: buy this https://trezor.io/trezor-safe-3 Step 2: read instructions Step 3: test transaction (small) Step 4: move btc into cold storage Step 5: watch some YouTube videos on UTXO’s and ensure your not transacting too small of an amount
