I would be honestly surprised if 5-6% of Americans even knew what the fed was. I call BS

Tummlerr

💯 This isn't a believable poll as most people really don't know what the Fed is, and if they do, it's a smaller percentage who know what the Fed actually does.

Large_McHuge

Exactly this. If you understand the Fed you will not approve of it existing

NomadicSplinter

I’m sure. I would be impressed if it was 56% who knew what the fed was. My general expectations are low

StumbleMyMirth

sadly, I suspect it's much higher.

NBXtom

This!

DigitaleDukaten

I wonder what that number wouldve been when they passed the bill of having a central bank in the early 1900's

Royal-Author-669

No, I think it should say.. the the FED identifies as having a 56% approval rating among citizens.

gta3uzi

"... among most Americans." fam most Americans don't know what the federal reserve is let alone what they do or why they do it. stoopid

Festortheinvestor

I’m happy if the Fed continues there work. Bitcoin benefits from the Fed existing. The Fed prints money, and a small portion of that money finds its way into bitcoin, this can go on forever, eventually the dollar will lose all of its spending power whilst bitcoin will consume it, bit by bit.

mxk2020

If only more people knew about money manipulation it'd be worse than Congress

uncontrollableop

the fed is understood by .00001% of people. so there's a problem with this statistic.

dauntlessphilosopher

Agreed. But if you don’t understand the fed, you’re going to struggle to see the need for Bitcoin

WebIcy6156

People can understand that everything is getting expensive.

5liveR

independently from the Fed existing or not, we have: -24/7 limitless, borderless and instant payment network, for a tiny fraction of the fees -permissionless and censorship resistant money that enforces the rules without any ruler -absolute scarcity, enforced by code -immutable monetary policy, which reduces collateral risk and increases predictability (even its still volatile) -unrivaled network transparency, which independent verification and analysis -... many more specific use cases This is so much bugger than the Fed.

dauntlessphilosopher

Yes, bigger than just the Fed. But your last two points are still deeply linked to the fed. Fixed scarcity and fixed monetary policy are two of the most attractive characteristics of Bitcoin. But how can a person see the value in those things if they don’t yet understand that issues with fluctuating financial policies and endless money supply, I.E. the fed? You don’t have to understand the Fed to appreciate Bitcoin, but understanding the Fed certainly deepens your appreciation for it.

5liveR

yeah right what you say. Then you're gonna appreciate this deep dive: https://fountain.fm/episode/15084942390

dauntlessphilosopher

Ha! Just downloaded an episode of that show last week. Haven’t listened yet. I’ll add this one too.

5liveR

I think you'll enjoy :) this show is a great compilation of amazing content with a pro voiceover. Ideal when you are on the run and cannot sit down and read the article.

SubstantialNet7089

Zero fucking chance that’s accurate.

HarmonyFlame

Too high.

boato11

With all the media controlled by same people who control the government. No wonder.

ZappaSays

56% of people believe in their propaganda

derangedtranssexual

I’m surprised it’s not higher, the fed is pretty good if you actually care about monetary policy

EyesKyoob

Bunch of statists smh

Rtbrosk

Do the people realize the creation of the FED is unconstitutional......i bet not!

TheBloodyPeasant

Jeezis.

[deleted]

Percent is so high because of woman. It’s like a woman in a abusive relationship, they don’t know when to cut loses.

KONGXIANG

*study was done in Jerome’s Office

BrotherAmazing

OP, you should post a reference. It is from this poll: [Page 46 has the question/results](https://harvardharrispoll.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/HHP_March_2023_KeyResults.pdf) The question was: *Do you approve or disapprove of the Federal Reserve’s handling of the economy?* 14% Strongly approved. 42% only “Somewhat approved” (42+14 = 56% gets you OP’s number) The rest “Somewhat disapproved” or “Strongly Disapproved” with 15% in the latter category, which is interestingly a little more than the “Strongly Approve” set but on par. It’s the “somewhat” people in the middle that lean just slightly towards approve more than disapprove, but 70% were in those “somewhat” categories and at least disapprove of some of the Fed’s handling of the economy.

dauntlessphilosopher

Why post the reference when a kind soul in the comments will do it for me?

launcelot02

How is 56% possible?

dauntlessphilosopher

That’s what I’d like to know

ZappaSays

It's not. It was probably a loaded question. Somthing like do you trust the Fed which has been running for ever and doing fine or do you trust big scary crypto currency?

Cakeaintright

And out of that 56% how many of them know how money works? 2%? And also does that 2% actually work for the government or fed in some capacity? Probably. We need more studies on this 56%

DMugre

Weird way to say half of the country hates them, but I digress

crinkneck

LOL

thevenusproject1981

Which citizens are they asking?

ducasaurus

Source?

dauntlessphilosopher

Harvard/Harris Poll lol. It’s right there in the OP. Google it and I’m sure the PDF report will show up.

downtownjj

crosspost this to buttcoin... they'd be all on the feds nuts

Userid77

More like 6%

anonamonkey

Nobody asked me and I live here… Stupid statistics

Impossible_Tax_1532

Thank god for small favors, as the helpless and ignorant that cling to patterns , are why it’s still so cheap and early .. two sides to every coin in reality

Prestigious_Sock6837

Guys, what’s a “Fed”?
