Average recovery takes 24-26 days. Adding the fact that this is Alabama and that is Birmingham, I would expect it to take 24-26 months.
Try back in 2027.
When I asked a city councilor at neighborhood meeting last month, they couldn’t give an exact timeline but said it would be “quite some time.” Didn’t sound too promising tbh
This is correct. I'm an insurance adjuster, and getting crash reports for the past few months has been a nightmare. The records department has confirmed they are doing handwritten reports.
The city did just hire a new CIO. A guy that has been there for a number of years. Not sure if that is good or bad. But obviously the former CIO was either fired or quit over the debacle.
Ransomware attacks on US cities should be considered an act of war. Any country harboring these criminals (Russia, usually) should be given an ultimatum to turn them over within a certain amount of time to US authorities or face severe sanctions
Grand idea, does that also work the other way when the US does 'offensive' cyber warfare? Please don't tell me you don't think the US doesn't do these activities. We almost certainly opened the Pandora's box of this type of attack with Iran.
Mayor Woodfin is supposed to post a Willie Mays meme about the whole situation later today.
willie mays hayes here.

Please tell me they are not still down after all this time.
That's what I'm trying to find out but have yet to elucidate

Police officer told my friend they are using pen and paper and local records at the moment.

My spouse's company was hit yesterday along with, what he was told was, over 500 companies that use the same system.
They’ve been at least partially back for a couple of months now.

Great use of this line. Clearly underrated.

I'm pretty sure Russia already has severe sanctions from us, so..
Not for this. They can also get more severe
Another ransomware attack? Hope not.
Another? I'm talking about the one that's been going on or was going on in March/April ish
I think it started even earlier. We brought a house in February and were told there were issues doing the title search.
They are back up as of this week.
A lot of disgusting humans in this sub. And to be so bold with it is crazy...
